They installed our furnace about 4 years ago. They came highly recommended. However, I felt that it was kind of average job. They did show up on time, but there were some finishing things that weren’t done all that well. They didn’t have it inspected which they were supposed to do. Their price was competitive. We ended up having a problem. They were punctual. I am not sure if we would use them in future.

Mark came to do the proposal. He was very professional, courteous, punctual, thorough. Mark knew we were collecting several bids with an intention to make a decision within a few days, and he took an extra moment to prepare the bid for me before he left so we would have plenty of time to review/compare. It was a difficult decision, but we ultimately selected another proposal from a different company.

They were right on time and they took the time to explain things well. I do not have a basis of comparison, however I was satisfied with the price. I would use Jacobs Heating & Air Conditioning again in the future.

I have been using them for years now. I like them for their reliability and for the kind of people they hire.

professional, punctual, honest. gave suggestions for how to decrease electric bill and add safety, etc. would definitely use them again.

I can't really compare them with anybody else because they are the ones I have used for many years and they have done fine. I don't have any complaints so far.

From Kat (Charles' wife): We contacted six contractors -- three Carrier and three Trane -- to give us estimates on installing a heat pump to replace our inefficient hydro-heat system. Jacobs sent out Doug Kegel in a timely matter. Doug was very thorough, not only in examining the house and installation site (our cramped little attic for the air-handler), but in asking me questions about why I wanted a heat pump and what made me choose the configuration I was asking them to quote on. He seemed genuinely interested in finding the best solution to our heating problem, not just the slickest or most expensive. It was also obvious that he was very knowledgeable and experienced, and explained his reasons for why he was quoting the system he did. Unfortunately, he was probably the least professional of all the estimators in terms of customer interaction. I appreciated that he asked me questions about my assumptions about heat pumps, because he was trying to see if what I said I wanted was the best solution for our house, but his courtesy was lacking: he wasn’t rude, per se, but he was somewhat confrontational in challenging my preconceived notions, and had a tendency to interrupt me with another question if I seemed hesitated in answering the first one he asked. I know he has more experience and understanding of heat pump systems than I, but his pedantic and superior approach made me feel stupid and unprepared, which I did not like. He also specifically bad-mouthed Trane (Jacobs is a Carrier dealer), which I thought unprofessional. As it turned out, though, his quote was the best of the Carrier quotes, by a goodly margin, and was very tempting even next to our top Trane pick. I was unsettled enough by his visit, though, to call the company and ask to speak to someone in authority. I got Mike, the CFO, and he was wonderful. In the end, we did go with Jacobs because of the incentives, the equipment, and the price. (Yes, I have heard that Jacobs tends to highball and then offer discounts to make their prices look better, but the plain truth was that at the end of the day they were the cheapest of the Carrier dealers.) The installation itself went quite handily. Rob was our installer and just set to work without any fuss and was done by the end of the third day (that was the original estimate, because the space in the attic is so narrow). The electrician was also great. There were some questions about how some details were going to be done, but in the end it all went smoothly. There were no extra charges or sudden surprises. Jacobs did most of the paperwork for the tax incentives and rebates (they only missed one section on one form), which I appreciated greatly. They are finishing up right now with the Check Me test. If you don’t have an issue with a personality like Doug’s (and I will admit I am more sensitive to these things than some), or if you can get a different salesperson, I think you can’t go wrong with Jacobs.

I have been using them for several years. I had a quote form some other company and it was outrageous - they did something that my husband felt was dishonest. So, we ended up going to Jacobs and they were upfront with us and told us what the deal was, what we needed to do and took care of the problem in a timely manner. Due to that service, we put them on our heating and A/C maintenance and have been using them ever since. They call to remind us to schedule an appointment. They have been sending the same person out for several years and he really knows his work. We are very friendly now and I trust him.

The job went well. They had the type of furnace we wanted. We had no complaints. I think the price was comparable. They were professional.

Service technician arrived on time and completed all the work in an hour. He explained to me what he did and made some recommendations for further work. He was very professional

We have a unit in one of our businesses that hasn't been taken care of as well as it should have and Brian C. has worked on it to get it to it's best potential with the least amount of cost possible. They also do regular maintenance and filter changes for us. We also have had to call them on occasion for emergency repair and they come within a few hours and get things working right away. For my home, they did accidentally put holes in my newly refinished floor. When discovered, they took responsibility on the spot and repaired it with no hassle or difficulty at all.

They were very friendly, and clearly eager to have a happy customer. They didn't try to sell us lots of extras, which I appreciated. The work was done quickly and neatly, and we have not had a problem with the new equipment.

The estimator (Doug) was much more professional than two previous ones. Instead of saying "Up to $x rebate" he listed the actual rebate amount. Instead of neglecting the cost of an electrician, they included the cost. Another estimator completely bowed out of the problem of heating and cooling the 2nd floor bedroom. We signed the contract immediately. Jim installed our new equipment. He was very polite, friendly, and inventive. He did a great job. Another employee tuned our furnace and went over different options with me. Excellent, professional job! Just like most folks say about them on Angie's List.

I called to make an appt. and they sent Randy out the same day. He did a great job. There was nothing wrong with the unit so he checked everything out and cleaned the unit out and was on his way.

They were punctual and actually showed up to do the work. I had called another company and couldn't even get a response from them, so it was nice that Jacob's actually responded. They were able to fix the problem. I would hire them again.

I called for same day service to get a quote on repairing heater inducer and moving my air conditioner about 10 feet. I was going to get tune-up on heater but repairman did not recommend it since part needed replaced. Tune-up would have been around $140. Serviceman was nice and knowledgeable. He mentioned I should consider maintenance agreement to save $ later. He had a partner but the two of them could not give me a hard quote on repair or moving a/c unit. I was told that because foundation wall needed drilled through another dept had to come out. The $90 I was charged would not be applied to anything when I asked. I was told Jacobs would call me that day or the following morning. I had indicated I needed the A/C moved quickly due to a backyard renovation project. Three full business days have gone by and no one has called me. I wasted $90 for nothing. In deciding where to spend my hard earned money, a company's initiative and follow-through is a strong factor in who to let my business to. Jacobs lost a $1000+ job due to their total lack of followup. The company I am going with only charged me $50 for an estimate and gave a hard quote for both services I need.

i have no prior experience with furnace service companies, but jacobs was decent as far as i could tell. there was a strange noise after the service and i called them and the woman seemed kind of annoyed and said "well it's an old furnace so they make noise" and didn't really care to help me feel ok about this "boom" that happened every time the heat shut off. i hung up feeling irritated so i called back and went to a service tech this time who was very helpful and described how when the furnace is tuned up to run optimally, sometimes the "unoptimal" ductwork can flex in a way that causes such a noise. so i'd say that my experience with customer service wasn't the best, but in the end they came through. we all have bad days i guess.

The Jacobs representative showed as scheduled and then ATTEMPTED to get me to sign the contract on the spot saying the price (including company rebates) were good only for that day. In addition he advertised the efficiency of the furnace as meeting the 95% standard to qualify for the 2009 federal tax credit. After exploring the statements on my own, I discovered that the manufacturer of the furnace DID NOT qualify the furnace to the 95% standard, in the installation configuration to be used in my home. When I addressed this discrepancy with the Jacobs salesman, he danced around the subject, even saying well no one would audit the installation so we could lie about the installation configuration in order to meet the 95% standard. Don't trust this sales group. My previous experience with the company (tuning of my furnace had been good).

They were very responsive, found the problem and fixed it quickly.

I really like them. The quality of their service is really great. They were just very nice. I only have a heating unit and the so according to the contract drawn they would also give me a discount in any repair service performed on the furnace, which I think is great bonus. Their price was great and very reasonable.

He dismantled the pilot light mechanism and cleaned and repaired it. He cleaned the fireplace, the compartment beneath it and polished the glass screen. He rearranged the fake logs and gravel to make it look more realistic. He then vacuumed the whole area. The fire works perfectly, looks very realistic and is spotless.

We called NWNG about 8 am and had received a call from Jacobs (a certified vendor) about 9 am. They were here by 11 and had to dissemble and then go get a part. They were done in just a few hours including running to get the part.

They were very responsive quality workmanship. They were on time and clean. They were very thorough and helpful. They were very good. I will absolutely use this company again.

This company was very knowledgeable. They saved me a lot of future trouble with my gas line. There was a mis-communication with the gas company which was not Jacobs Electric's fault,but they took care of it. They cleaned up after themselves. I was impressed with how quick they were with the estimate and the work being done, even when it was in their peak season.
