We have used this service over 16 years, and highly recommend Jim Meyers and his team. Every friend who has used them says the same thing. Jim is a professional, knows and cares about the health of the trees. When we cut down trees, he and his crew did amazing things to keep everyone and everything safe. Watching them climb and lower the limbs, deal with overhead power lines, and fell a 1 ton tree stump safely in a planting strip by the street only 7 feet wide was amazing. The first job he took down a 30 foot tree in 10 feet of space between houses, piece by piece. Plus Jim and his crew clean up every time and work very hard while there to ensure the tree work is done right. We know in winter the job is done right for trimming because we didn't have any major limbs fall off trees in heavy winter ice/snow storms, unlike our neighbors! The trees are happy and healthy in this crew's hands, plus the rates are very reasonable.

Fantastic company! Jim and his team are a wonder to watch. My 28 year old flowering pear tree had developed an ominous lean (into the the street) and, since the neighbor lost a huge branch from the same age/species a few months ago, I decided that mine had to come down. Jim's bid was very fair, he handled all of the city tree removal permitting, and today he did the job. These guys really are amazing--and totally safety oriented. Used a cherrypicker arrangement to get up in the tree to trim branches out and then took down the main trunk. He uses a remote controlled stump grinder that is in itself an amazement. The wood was cut up and stacked for easy retrieval. This team was on time, totally professional, consistently hard at work, dedicated to safety, fastidious in their clean-up, and friendly and thoughtful. I couldn't recommend Jim and his group more highly.

It was a pleasure dealing with this company!
They were so knowledgeable - they knew exactly what needed to be done. We walked the yard together and I was given a fair estimate for all the work. It was easy to schedule the work date, they came right on time and did a great job. The owners were so easy to talk to and so nice (and funny - btw). We plan on using Hedgehog for all future tree work!

While others may have had good experiences, it?s not worth using the company since you end up having to deal with Joy, the wife.  She badgered us for payment in a rude and unprofessional manner.  Then, after pretending not to have received our check by mail, she also refused to accept payment by wire transfer saying that it was a ?security issue?.  This is so wrong, normal businesses accept wire transfers all the time; it?s easier and safer than almost every other method.  It seems her real motive was to be petty and get us to small claims court, adding an outrageous amount of interest and penalty to her claim.  I paid it, just to stop dealing with her lack of integrity.

.Did a fine job with lifting the canopy. Because I never said anything about the deadwood he left it untrimmed. Seems obvious the deadwood would be removed as well. It took two phone calls before they responded, and told me trimming the deadwood would be extra. I said OK but never heard from him again.

They are arborists, tree trimmers. I was really happy with their work. They were professional and thorough. They were a little bit higher than others, but I trust them.

Each time I glanced out the window and saw a member of the crew working in a tree, I was struck by how effortlessly the men seemed to move about with ropes and ladders. Living on the perimeter of Mt. Tabor Park, I've had a lot of pruning done over the years by different companies, but Hedgehog was a new experience. Each cut was considered with care, and the result reflected the good eye of the pruner. The trees were pruned for safety, to get branches off the house, to open up crowded limbs for more light, to shape a tree to better fit it's spot in the yard, etc. I could not have been more pleased with the work and feel very fortunate to have established a relationship with this company.

The Hedgehog crew did an excellent job pruning one large and one gigantic tree with limbs that extended well into the neighbor's property. They made both trees look beautiful, performed the work safely, and cleaned up thoroughly. Pricing was fair and the company was prompt and responsive. Excellent job.

They did outstanding! They delivered what they promised. They were very professional! I was very pleased! They didn't ask for any money until the job was completed!

We hired Hedgehog for the work performed as mentioned above and we were very happy with Jim and his crew. They listened to us very carefully and as they did the work they made sure they did only what we wanted, including double checking with us on a couple of issues. Some of the trimming was sensitive due to issues with our neighbors about the trees, but Jim gave us great advice, proceeded carefully and in the end our neighbors were very happy as well. The crew was friendly and cleaned up well after all the work. They also really knew how to shape a tree.
After accepting bid, when were scheduling the work, Hedgehog proposed a date a few weeks out and we responded that didn't work on our end and it would have to be later, then we didn't hear back for 10 days which made us a little concerned but then they got back to us - with apologies - and we decided on a mutually agreeable date. From there on, it was all smooth sailing and very professional work. We would happily use them again.

I have used Hedgehog before and will use them again. They were friendly punctual and efficient.

Jim and his assistant continue to do GREAT work! I've used them for several issues with my tall Douglas firs in the yard, and this time, I asked them to just prune back the rhododendrons, vine maples, and assorted smaller trees and shrubs that surround my house and deck. Although they've been swamped with big jobs, they made time to take care of my request in their usual fashion: completely professional, very knowledgeable, safe, and friendly.
I can't say enough nice things about Jim and his team. They are top-notch, and I'm very happy to recommend them again.

After purchasing a new home surrounded by large trees, we wanted a strategy to care for them while also preventing damage to our house. We got several bids for long-term tree care strategies. Compared with other tree care companies, Jim recommended a less aggressive and significantly less costly (over the long term) approach. He gave us separate bids, in priority order, for each of the trees on our property. We ended up deciding to do all of the work this year.
Jim and his crew spent about two-and-a-half days working on our trees. They were professional and cheerful, and did a great job on the trees. I was really pleased with the end result, and will definitely hire them again. I will also recommend them to friends who are looking for tree care.
I only have two minor complaints. First, scheduling was a bit of an issue. We had agreed on a date over a month in advance, only to find out on that day that it had never been put on their calendar. We were not in a huge hurry, and so we just rescheduled, but it was a little annoying. Second, there was some damage to some of our shrubbery from branches that were dragged across the property.

Hedgehog did a super job. Their pricing was exceptional for the great ratings they receive. They were fast and didnt leave a trace.

Jim arrived a little ahead of schedule and worked all day. The weather was not on his side and he had to deal with spring hailstorms. The trees look great, and the worksite was left clean and tidy.

Jim and Corey of Hedgehog did a fantastic job. They helped me with my beautiful Red maple. They offered me good advice about my tree, and carefully trimmed it back. The tree looks great.

They were very professional and responsive, provided accurate estimate quickly and scheduled the job within a week or so after that. They arrived on-time and appeared quite competent. We were pleased with their service and would use them again for further tree work. We have already recommended them to others.

They did a fine job in all areas; advised me well; improved the appearance of the trees, especially the Hawthorne; cleaned up very well and left little evidence of having been there (no big, muddy footprints!), and they honored my request to not tread on the pet cemetery. Plus their price was considerably less than another bid I received for the same work. They get an -A-!

The entire process was well done and there was absolutely no flakiness. Our volunteers did not want to climb up on tall ladders to prune so we left it to the professionals, and pros they are!

We live in the Grant Park neighborhood and got four bids. Hedgehog's was neither the lowest nor highest, but we were impressed with Jim and Cory's professionalism, knowledge, balanced pruning approach, and personal styles. The morning of the work, Jim was prompt and courteous, and his pruning was very skilled. He walked around the property with me, to make sure he understood what I wanted. The trees now look terrific. Highly recommended.

It turned-out pretty good! They cleaned-up nicely afterwords and didn't damage anything during the process. They were very professional.
