Anctil Heating and Cooling

Ken Nutting responded within 30 minutes of our initial call to Anctil H&C. He was extremely helpful and the backdraft vent was reinstalled within a few minutes. Mr. Nutting would not accept payment for his coming out to our home and helping us with our problem. Amazing! I'll call Anctil for any service requirements I have for heating and cooling issues. I highly recommend this company.

Great! WE love our new motorized damper. Finally we don't have to heat or cool the whole house to keep the upstairs comfortable. These guys were great. As with any project we had a few road blocks with some new ductwork so I was happy my husband was home to make sure it was done the way we wanted vs. what was easier for the installer. Val and Tom Anctil are great to work with. I would make sure you get other quotes. I think their prices are going up so you will want to compare before you hire.

He estimated 3 hours, however, the job was longer. He cleaned a lot of dirt out of them which was a good thing, he also gave me a great price. Tony Bell was the tech.

I called and set up for an appointment a couple weeks ahead, on the day of appointment no show. I called the main office and came to find out Ken was running late. They could called me and let me know Ken was running late rather than have me calling them to find out. No service is performed since I felt their bid ($10835) was too high comparing to other contractors and selected another contractor to do the work.

Great expectations; dashed. Tom came out and gave a thorough assessment of my furnace and vent needs. I was very impressed by him and was 90% certain I wanted to have Anctil do the work. However, I had a few follow-up questions, so I called at least three times over the course of a week, asking that he call back. He never did.

Selected another contractor in the end, but was VERY IMPRESSED by Anctil Heating & Cooling. Eric came out to estimate & I would highly recommend him. Very helpful. Took the time to work through a couple of scenarios & discussed the different products that could be used. It was a tough decision, & we appreciated talking to such a competent & helpful company.

Before he made the sale, our sales rep Eric went above and beyond, helping me to troubleshoot over the phone our failing 25 year old gas furnace, to keep it running through the holidays (we had company). After the holiday's I accepted the bid, my credit card was charged, and then waited 1 week for someone to call me to set up the scheduling. After a week passed (and my existing furnace had given up), I called them and they set it up for a week or so out. Due to a snowstorm they canceled on our scheduled day and indicated they'd call back that afternoon to reschedule (I indicated my furnace was not working). I did not receive a call back by the promised time so I called them and they indicated they were not doing any installs the next day either due to the lingering weather. They called the next day indicating they'd come the following day, which they did, on time. The install was completed that day, although the electrical was not put on a dedicated circuit as indicated during the bid.

After having a few contractors out, Anctil brought in the forces. Two extremely talented gentlemen showed up and began the process of converting a "found" void in our walls that allowed them to snake a new return vent from the basement to the second floor of our home. One of the gentlemen was crawling up into the cavity to ensure the vent was free of any obstructions. They were concerned about our art work and home furnishings, and installed dust barriers to help deter the dust from spreading throughout the house. They were diligent in making sure no holes were made in the lathe and plaster that weren't necessary. These gentlemen made us feel like they were working on a masterpiece and wanted their work to have better results than what we were hoping for. In the end, our home now has better venting and the upstairs rooms are climate controlled without adding an entirely new HVAC system as other companies had suggested.

Chris quickly, and correctly, diagnosed the problem to be a bad limit switch. This is after another company (Jacob's) diagnosed the problem to be a control board and flame sensor. Grading; price: A- fair price, my Internet search for my limit switch cost was comparable to what Anctil charged. The service call and labor costs were also in line with my view of the industry. The quality: A- they left the area more clean than he found it, noticed that the electronic air cleaner element was dirty (and perhaps the root cause of the limit switch going bad). The punctuality: A- they scheduled the day before and I was given a three hour window, they came within the window and called before he came. The professionalism: A- they explained the issue in detail, had a very professional attitude and demeanor.

Geoff fixed the igniter but the the heater wasn't working a couple days later. I called Anctil back and they sent someone out 2 or 3 days later. When the igniter was replaced the first time, a wire was left in the wrong place causing the heater to shut down (auto safety mechanism) each time it started up. They came out and fixed it a second time for no charge. Overall they were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Unfortunately they made a mistake the first time they came out. Pricing is based on a $90 dispatch fee plus a fixed rate depending on the repair.

Overall, I was satisfied with my level of service with Anctil. They installed all of the parts that I had purchased ahead of time with no issues. Aside from some small arguments with the contractor over whether to hard plumb the natural gas line vs. installing flex line. Everything was great. I felt as though the contractor did not respect my request or my opinion due to me being female. Also because he didn't want to spend that much time in my crawl space. I have also used them to service my furnace. Will have them back to do more work installing a removable filter.

See comments above for the story. Maybe they lost my information, but that is still disappointing! Luckily, I can control the heat with the breaker switch, but imagine if someone has a true emergency and never got a response. I decided to go with a more local company and will write a report about them after I have the work done on 11/3/06.

We are very pleased with the work which was done on time and at the estimated price. The staff doing the work was on time both days and took great care to be very clean and careful while in our home. The work took two days but we had heat over night so no problem. When all the work was completed and tested they showed us how to operate and maintain and care for the system.

They are very hard working. It went well. I was a little afraid that it would turn into a two day job but they brought in more workers and finished in one day.

Everything was done thoroughly and efficiently. I received a call from the company office to tell me that the tech was on his way. Lee was the tech who did the work, and, although he arrived a little late all the work was done in a timely fashion. This is always appreciated because I realize that things happen and sometimes arrival time may not be when intended. Although what needed to be done: checking the 10 year old furnace which never had been cleaned, checked and serviced and putting in a new thermostat was not complicated, Lee was thorough, answered all my questions, and walked me through programming the new thermostat. He answered questions that had nothing to do with the projects at hand, so when and if I decide to get air conditioning, I know what to expect as far as what is available and approximate cost.

They're reliable, efficient and professional!

Eric the sales rep was prompt, informative and professional. The installation crew was ONE OF A KIND! Not only did they do a fantastic job but they cleaned everything up better than when they came. They were very friendly and considerate of my time and space. I appreciated how much information they gave me on the products I purchased and how nice they were to work with! Their products are top of the line and their prices are comparable to the other companies that sell the same brand.

The guy did an excellent job. Completed the work as scheduled and provided me with honest, meaningful advice. I also had my ducts cleaned for an additional $395.00. This also was great work.

I was very pleased with Lee Guillen's work. During the recent heat wave, our air conditioning gave up. Lee did a very thorough job tuning up our system from top to bottom. In addition he installed a touch screen programmable thermostat. Lee was very thorough in his work, and we've definitely noticed the system works better.

Despite the summer heat, they scheduled our work promptly. The repairman quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue. We have had them do work for us several times and have always been pleased with their quality.

The owner -Tom Anctil provided my estimate. It was obvious after 2 minutes that Tom knew HVAC insde and out. Tom's problem solving skills helped find us find solutions VS. what some reps did, which was to avoid or down play my concerns. I felt the other 4 bids who represented 3 different brands were not as knowedgable about their products and solutions as Tom. As a last item check. I went to the address on Tom's business card. I found an impressive (5k+/-sqft)shop that has been there for over 25 years! Complete with sheet metal shop and office and service managers that answered my last minute questions. I decided then to hire Tom's company. Geoff and Mr. Jensen installed my system and were very respectfully of my home. Install seems perfect, my system works beautifully and clean up was complete. It took me nearly 5 weeks to review and find this company. I wanted to avoid the hassles I read of on Angies list. I would use Anctil Heating and Cooling again.

They came recommended for a duct rebuilding job. We called them for a quote and they came promptly and provided a quote, but only after we called a few times. When the scope of the work changed and we needed to add more work, they just completely dropped the ball. We tried calling them at least 5 times and either got routed to voice mail or had someone take a message. We were promised a call back and never received one. Needless to say, we are very disappointed and saddened by the experience, because the initial meeting went well and the quote was quite reasonable.

Problem was identified and repaired correctly the first time. Very pleased!

They paid excellent attention to details. The job was complex in converting a two story home from one HVAC system to two systems. They did excellent enhancements. They were very clean and careful. They did the extra things I wanted done. The removal of an old thermostat left a depression in the wall. They fixed the wall and painted it to match prior to installing the thermostat. That is an example of doing it right and beyond what they had to do.

The owner of the company came to my house to review problems with heating and cooling the top floor. He was very thorough and knowledgeable, and said he would contact me the following week with a detailed proposal. He didn't call. I left three messages over the next two weeks and not once did he call. I finally had to contact another company. Poor customer service. He wasted my time, time that could have been spent working with a company that follows through on promises. If for some reason he decided that the job wasn't worth his company's time or whatever, he at least should have called me back and explained this. I've never had a service company essentially refuse to contact me.
