We are disappointed with the amount we were charged, not with the technician per se. The company is professional, courteous and capable. However, we were under the impression that as part of the trip charge and diagnostic fee they would troubleshot the problem and explain the issue along with the cost to repair. In our case it was user error; we had not read the manual correctly. They explained how to operate the unit and then charged us the additional minimum $120 labor fee. The explanation took 3-5 minutes. It seems ridiculous to charge $120 for a 5-minute explanation. It just seems like the decent thing to do would be to explain the sequence of buttons as part of the trip and diagnostic fee. It is similar to calling the TV repairman and after he discovered that the unit was not plugged in, explained to you how to plug it in and then charged you $120 for that explanation (flat fee, not prorated for actual time spent). In their defense, their web site does indicate that the $120 repair fee is a flat rate, no proration, but an explanation on how to use an appliance is hardly a repair. They even indicated that their work came with a warranty. That is like adding insult to injury. Over the years I have found it very difficult to find reputable appliance repair companies (except for GE appliances where you can call GE repair, who is very reputable) in Portland, so the fact that this company seems to be reputable in terms of their capabilities is a good thing, I just wish they would be more humane in their pricing. The other complaints I see here regarding multiple trips and not coming with the part on their first trip is understandable as it is unreasonable to expect them to purchase a part based on a customer’s explanation; they have to diagnose the problem themselves. Bottom LIne, expect to pay $285 for them to come to your house. $165 to troubleshoot and another $120 to explain the problem to you and order the parts and then return for a minimum of $120 to perform the repair.

"Hello [Member Name Removed], thank you for letting us know about this. Your feedback helps us do better. I would like to explain though that per our flat rate labor guide, customer education, explanation of operation and performance, diagnostics, and estimate preparation are all covered under the service call fee. However labor associated with fixing the appliance even when minor starts at $120. Our Customer Service Representatives try to make this clear at time of scheduling service. We hope you will give us another chance in the future to prove to you why we are here and have been since 1979. Thank you again for sharing your experience, Kilee"

I went to inquire about the part and got a weird run around, should have known then something was up. They charged over $100 for a part that a quick google search shows to run about 30 bucks. Oh and no refunds. What a scam.

He was nice and calm about it all. I'm seething that a $60 after market part will cost me $327+ over all to put in. He would use genuine Samsung part which could be even more expense. He is willing to share with me the part number, to be sure it would fit, as I'd already begun looking it up online. He gave me some instructions on how to put it in myself. I don't think they'll get much repeat business at this rate. I have had many appliance repairs in my 30+ years of home owning and this is the most expensive method of billing I've ever seen.

The owner Mike and the technician Corey turned up to do the repair. They were professional, courteous and punctual. Corey diagnosed and remedied the problem quickly. We were charged a total of $453 for the repair. This was broken down as $96 for Service, $120 for labor and $237 for parts. A quick internet search shows that we were charged in excess of a 150% mark up on the parts for this repair. We have discussed this with Mike who claimed they had installed an upgraded model of the motor but unfortunately for him his office did confirm the original cost of the part. I've no doubt we will be told that we were misinformed. I have no issue with the labor and Service charge, and I would have been happy to pay a reasonable markup on parts. However >150% is unduly excessive and close to unethical. Lesson learned, but buyer beware.

Professional, prompt & came prepared with parts to fix our older refrigerator. The service call price of $126 is high, but the quality of work is good.

We used AAA Appliance few times in the past and the service was always good. However, this time for whatsoever reason (may be a new owner), the service was very bad. We called them to fix our dish washer and all they did was to tell us that there was a small broken part which was causing the problem and the fix is to remove that part without which the dishwasher will work fine. The problem was not fixed and we are not sure the reason is also correct. The irony was that without performing any labor they charged service of $96.50 plus a labor of $85. When we fixed the appointment, the office manager NEVER told us $85 on top of service fee. It was total ripoff!! They only spent 20 minutes to diagnose and left with a stinking bill!! When we called again the next day, we were told that they will not come and look at it unless we agree to replace the motor! I will NOT recommend this company.

They didn?t have the part on the truck, but charged us $65 to come out and an $85 service fee. Then they said another $65 and another $85 to come back with the part. We bought the part separately, to not have the trip charge and put it in ourselves. My husband went down to their ?warehouse?, even though the actual retail shop charges $40 less and it?s right down the street. The part did not work! I called within a half an hour, but they would not refund it. We still returned it and are disputing the charge. The owner (who referred to himself as ?Ice Man? when we asked his name) called me back and basically told me ?too bad? when I said we were unhappy. The lady on the phone was very rude as well.

On the coldest day of the year, with Portland an ice rink, our fridge started warming up to a balmy 60 degrees. Not good.
Within three hours of the service call, Corey (Ice Man) was on site, fixing it. Our service call window was 12-2pm, and he was onsite by 12:30pm. Corey is professional, courteous, and you can tell that he's excited about talking to customers about appliances and appliance repair. He even offered to fix someone else's work (the water delivery system) and was quick to show us how to avoid trouble with kinked water hoses in the future.
Hopefully, we won't need to call Corey again, but if our appliances go haywire, he'll be the first call I make.

We called for a repair on our Asko dishwasher. They said they would need to make two trips-- one for diagnostics and one for the repair. That made sense because we knew that they wouldn't carry spare parts for an Asko around with them. We asked what it would cost for the second visit and they said nothing extra, since we would already have paid for the service call. But after they had completed the diagnostic and called to tell us the proce for the rest of the repair, they said that we would have to pay AGAIN for the repair visit. So that is $250 ON TOP of the actual cost of the parts and labor.
Ridiculously expensive and we would never have agreed to have them out for the diagnostic, if we had know that that was the base price. We are very disappointed in this kind of bad behavior.

I called and made a next-dayn appointment  for an arrival between 12:00 and 2 p.m.  I received a call the next day at 10 a.m. that technician could arrive in a bout 20 minutes. Mike arrived shortly and went to work. He quickly diagnosed the problems: the dryer needed a switch on the door. The washing machine was operating properly. The problem was the impaired draining of the basement sink which caused some of the  expelled water to  backflow iinto the washing machine. I later called my long-time plumber and he opened the drain.
This is my first time to use AAA Appliance Service, Sales & Parts. I checked Angie's list and liked that they have been in business for more than 30 years, were a family-owned business, and had an A rating. The receptionist/scheduler was very pleasant and helpful; the technician was professional and personable. Together, they inspired my trust and respect. They  made me feel I had made a good choice, and I plan on using AAA in the future and recommending them to my friends.

Cory "Ice Cube" was very prompt and professional in repairing our washer.  He explained how the problem likely happened and how we can try to prevent it in the future.  He arrived within a day of us calling and had the replacement part in hand, which adds considerable value.  He assessed the problem and gave us an estimate for the repair.  While $500 seemed like a lot for a $1000 washing machine, we needed it fixed so had him go ahead and make the repair while he was there.
After the repair, we called two other highly rated Angies List repair people and asked what it would cost for this same repair (without telling them what we had paid).  Both estimates were $200 less than what Cory charged us, which was very disappointing and left us feeling taken advantage of.  We were looking for a new primary washer/dryer repair person to have on our call list since we're a business that is pretty h****** washers and driers and our last repair guy was no longer available.  This business won't be first on our list unless we need something done quick enough that we are willing to pay significantly more for it.  I will disclaim that while the two other companies I called would have been significantly less expensive, neither of them were available to come out for several days.
