Homeowner’s beware - we do not recommend working with Epic Construction. We hired Epic to complete a major renovation of our 1960’s home. The project was originally estimated to be completed in 6-10 months. 20 months later, we began the process of terminating our contract because Epic consistently failed to meet deadlines, failed to manage their sub-contractors and failed to consistently and transparently communicate with us. Our 1 star review of Epic is based on our experience and reflects our opinions, but we want to provide specific examples to support our review so other consumers can be aware of the facts before making their own decisions. In August last year, Epic Construction communicated windows had been ordered and were 5-7 weeks out from delivery. In November, Epic asked to confirm color choice for the windows which was concerning because we were told windows had been ordered 3 months earlier. Windows were delivered in December which was 2 months past the original delivery estimate. A similar scenario occurred with drywall install. Epic Construction recommended the cabinet and trim manufacturer we used for our project. As with the windows and drywall, the cabinet completion timeline had several delays. In full disclosure, some of the initial delays were in part due to our choices as the homeowners. But the issues surrounding the install in November of last year were definitely the responsibility of Epic and it’s sub-contractors. The cabinet sub-contractors showed up late and left early each day they were on site and ended up walking off the job after having an argument with the owner of Epic. At that time, the cabinets weren’t completely installed, some were installed incorrectly and all the contracted materials weren’t delivered in full. Our third issue with Epic was due to their inability to clearly and transparently communicate with us. We have multiple, documented examples where we requested updates from Epic regarding the budget, and Epic would take weeks and sometimes months to respond in full. We also had issues with incorrect billing statements and an unwillingness of Epic to be transparent with their receipts. Our motivation in hiring a General Contractor was to have someone experienced in this type of renovation who could manage the project for us. Unfortunately, we consistently found ourselves managing Epic and their sub-contractors. For these reasons, we say buyer beware, and we would not recommend hiring Epic Construction.
