This is a l letter to explain our position as customers with the company named "American Craftsman Furnishings. In May of 2007 I noted that there was a "sale " occurring at the store located at 15230 SW Sequoia Parkway , Portland, Oregon 97224. We were given a written estimate of the two pieces we were interested in on May 9th of 2007. We went home discussed it and went back to the store and had the order written up and specified stain and materials on May 13th 2007. We had it explained to us that the manufacturers were located in the midwest and it would take 13-14 weeks before we would see the furniture. (approximately end of August of 2007) At that time we placed a deposit of $1476.50 . We were willing to wait 3.5 months because we expected to get our matching set , and the quality of the furniture seemed worth the wait. I was matching the cherry stained furniture that we already owned. No furniture by September 2007- so we made telphone contact and the female store owner seemed confused , so Patrick went directly to the Seqouia store and it was gone! So, then he followed up directly at the Tanasbourne store where the owners had supposedly consolidated their business without informing us. My husband vistied the store in October, November and December of 2007- begging and pleading for some furniture to be delivered. The female owner repeatedly had one excuse after another, We finally received 3 pieces of furniture delivered into our home on December 20th , 2007. However, the 3 items that we received were not what we had ordered. The couch was well made and the material was correct but the stain was the darker cherry stain. The coffee table was the correct stain but it was direct off the showroom flor as a substitute, and it resembled what we had ordered but it did not have the lift top. The side table was off the showroom floor and was delivered in addition , and I figured that it was to "make up " for the late order and that when we actually received the lift- top coffee table , that we would return it. And even though the order was not "quite right" we went ahead and accepted the furniture delivered . However, we were desperate for furniture for our Christmas gathering and paid on December 20th,2007 for the incorrect furniture an additional $1194.50. So, in total we have paid the furniture company $2671.00. We noted at the bottom of the receipt that we still owed them $282.00 for the special "lift-top coffee table that we had ordered. And we were told that they would come and pick up the plain coffee table, and exchange for the special lift-top table when it was finally completed. We did not hear from anyone . Now in February 2009 they called demanding more money and return of their little end table ! They are accusing US of being at fault!
Description of Work: bought some custom furniture from them : expected in 14 weeks - Finally received some furniture but NOT exactly what ordered -4MONTHS LATER And then they have called accusing us of owing money -24 months after our last contact with them in 1/2007! This is a big problem! see the story spelled out below.
