Bottomline - There are probably much better options in town.
"[member name removed], After receiving your feedback regarding the Diagnostic service done on 05/24, I wanted to do some research for you. Our records indicate that our technician was there from 8:00a.m.- 9:15a.m. and he had found that the condensor fan blade was out of balance. I also show that he quoted the replacement of the condensor fan blade at $682 retail, and the replacement of the fan blades at $276 retail. These prices do not include our discount given to Comfort Club Members. He also recommended to have a Precision Tune Up and Cleaning done for $118 per unit. Repairs like this are typical if a unit is not maintained and cleaned on an annual basis, as the manufacturer's recommend. Our records also indicate that you were originally quoted a $49 diagnostic charge by our office member that took your call, and that the full benefits of the Comfort Club Membership were explained to you at that time, hence the $49 diagnostic instead of our retail cost of $99. According to our invoice from the diagnostic, you declined to join our Comfort Club Membership when our technician presented it to you."
As a salesperson by trade, I am tuned into this lingo but did not hear anything to send up red flags that he was trying to sell me a new system.
I would have had them to do the work necessary, if I didn't realize later that it is covered with my home warranty.
The problems are with attention to detail and cleaning up after themselves. When the interior thermostat was replaced they did not clean up all of the debris they created on the floor and surrounding area. The garage area was not returned to its prior condition and displaced items were left scattered about. Lights that were used while working in the crawlspace were left on and again displaced items were left scattered about. The second day when they left they did not close the furnace door completely and it popped open during the night. This caused the system to shut off. So we woke up to a cold house as it shut itself off overnight. Both days when they left the garage doors were left open as opposed to closing up behind them. Finally they did not insulate a condensate line and the work did not pass the city inspection the first time. It is now 3 weeks after installation and I am still waiting on my warranty information. A diversion scoop promised at the time of sale was also not installed as promised.
Also the follow up paperwork on system maintenance does not match the instructions that the installer gave us for filter exchange, etc so we have further clarification in that regard.
In summary while the unit is installed and working fine currently, the inattention to detail at the time of installation does not give us confidence that we will not have ongoing problems in the coming year. Once the sale was complete the follow up has been poor. We just assumed that if we were paying over $10,000 for anything, that we would receive better service at least for the first month! I expect that I will be making additional calls to make sure everything was registered correctly so the warranty will be valid.
We would NOT recommend them nor use them again.
Bottom line: They stand behind the work they do!!!
We have been very satisfied with A-Temp and would recommend them..
