Mark and his crew did a great job of lightening up the walnut-it looks so much better afterwards. I had originally planned with the first arborist to take out a large branch of the walnut, but Mark advised that this would leave a large wound on the tree that might not heal properly which could lead to rot over time. He pruned the limb so there wasn't so much weight on it and I am glad we saved it. The company did a good job of taking out the 2 smaller trees and cleaning up the neighbor's yard and my driveway. They took away the brush and left us the firewood. We will definitely use this company again.

Mark and his crew showed up on time, did a great job thinning tree and removing snags. Cleanup afterwards could have been much better. Had to cleanup remaining debris in work area myself, as well as material left between work area and chipper. 15 minutes more cleaning up would have made for a completely satisfactory experience.

I wasn't extremely optimistic considering the extent of damage from the winter ice storms and the height (15-20') and age of the hedge. I called probably 4 different services, most of them tried to tell me how it should be done and sell me other services, Mark just asked me what I would like done, he offered advice on things I could do inexpensively after he was done. The crew showed up at 8:30 and left around 5, I was here for most of the time and they worked pretty solid throughout. They cleaned up very well and were courteous and professional. The job was difficult at best and the results were better than I expected. The thing I liked best is that Mark acted like he was cutting his own hedge, stopping and checking the height and cutting line as it was on a slope and difficult to gauge. They trimmed up some other storm damage and removed some other debris at no extra charge. These guys were solid and cared about their job performance, neighbors actually stopped by to get his info during the work.

Mark arrived exactly at the stated time for the estimate, as well as on the day the work was scheduled. His 21-year-old son accompanied him to help do the tree and stump removal. He was clean cut and very well mannered. They worked quickly and efficiently, completing all the work in only 1 1/2 hours. They left our yard in immaculate condition. We couldn't have been more pleased with their work.

After contacting them for an estimate they returned the call, came out to view the job. When given the job they were able to perform it in 5 business days. They came out at the agreed upon time and completed the job promptly and professionally. Overall they were great to do business with.

Mark came punctually at the appointed time to provide a bid. And when the time came to get the tree removed, the work was done expediently and after that, they swept the driveway up and left no trace that they had ever been there chopping/chipping wood and whatnot. He also went to our neighbor to give them a heads up and work was being done...

Great job! Only found one divet in the yard and that was alot of wood falling. Would refer to anyone. Mark and his team do good work!

When I left for work in the morning, the tree was there. When I returned in the late afternoon, it was gone, with hardly any leftover sawdust/chips. From my wife's description, they were very safe and cautious. What more could you ask?

It was an excellant experience. I emailed Mark over the weekend, he emailed back that day advising he would contact me Monday. He called Monday morning and arranged to come out that day to give me an estimate. Due to my schedule, we arranged to have the work done the next Monday. Mark and his crew were here at 8:30 a.m. and completed the work by 12:30 p.m. The plum tree that had split was quite large, they removed the broken portion, thinned the portion that remained to take some weight off, trimmed branches that were hanging over the power line to our house. The also removed branches from another tree that were rubbing on the house and roof and removed 6 - 8 dead oak branches from yet another tree. They cut the larger branches into firewood and chipped and removed the remaining brush. They did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend Westside Tree & Land Co. We still have a lot of work that needs to be done and will be calling them again.

Mark came out shortly after I called and gave me a bid. After I obtained additional information, I called him back to complete the job. They came out as scheduled and were done in about 2 hours. Everything was cleaned up and hauled away.

My SW Portland home dates back to the 1940's and sits on a large tax lot. I have been here 4 years now and lots of trees had already grown out of control by the time I arrived. It was necessary to remove a total of 7 trees. Each one had something incurable that was only going to get worse with time. I say this because I don't like to cut down trees. I found Westside Tree and Land on Angie's List thanks to other member's reviews. And to those reviewers, I am grateful. Westside Tree and Land did a really excellent job here on my property. It was a big job yet they were able to complete it in one day in a safe and professional manner. Owner Mark McArthur is very personable and easy to work with. His personal and professional integrity is readily apparent and I would have no reservations what-so-ever about calling Westside Tree and Land in the future if the need for more tree service arises.

The work was done quickly by the owner, Mark McArthur, two sons and another employee. The site was left in a reasonably clean condition.

He and his crew came right on time on Friday the 16th of January. They did an excellent job of cutting down the tree in front of my house that was right next to my haouse and lowered it very professionally. Mark and the team did everything we had planned to have done and it all went very well. He and his team cleaned up everything and they were very professional during the entire process. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Definitly will use him again!

This is the second time I have used Westside Tree Service. In both instances it worked pretty much the same: 1. Called the company. 2. Received a call back within 24 hours. 3. Mark came out and provided a written estimate. 4. We scheduled a time for them to come out and work. 5. They came out to my house on time and ready to work. 6. They completed the job as specified and cleaned up after themselves. 7. They left a bill at my house. 8. I sent them a check the next day. A completely hassle free transaction. If you looking to pay a fair price for work, respect professionalism, and demand honesty, then these are your guys. We plan on having them back out again in the early spring.

It took a couple of weeks to get Mark out because of weather delays amongst other things, but the work was excellent, the crew was friendly, and they cleaned up entirely after themselves.

Fabulous! They arrived when they said they would, were prepared with all the necessary tools & equipment. Professional in appearance, attitude and ability. Got right to work, they were right on with their estimate of how long the job would take. They did a wonderful job, were very conscience of our neighbors property and dealt with their issues. They were very thorough in cleaning up.

Mark came out, gave an estimate and was very helpful in his advice with providing short and long term solutions. He and his team were prompt and left the site in great shape. I look forward to working with Mark in the future to keep our trees healthy.

Mark McArthur is the principal. They were excellent. They did a difficult job. We had large trees close to our home and had a very narrow area in which they could drop the trees. They avoided our flower beds, they were careful with anything in their way. They were skilled and precise. They cleaned up well afterwards. They were responsive with our requests.

This company was a pleasure from start to finish. The crew was very pleasant and professional. My yard is heavily landscaped and the crew took extra care in making sure that they did not disturb it. Their efforts were very much appreciated. Great job.

I called Westside Tree on Monday morning at 8:00am to give an estimate on the removal of two large Cypress trees. Mark (owner) answered the phone and said they planned to be in my neighborhood and would stop by 9:30-10:00 to give an estimate. Mark came a little early and gave me the estimate. He offered a 10% discount if I decided to do the work on that day since they were in the neighborhood. I said yes, please do the work. Within an hour Mark and his crew of four were onsite and began the job. They removed the large trees by removing lower branches, then climbing the trees and cutting off the higher sections. One person did the tree cutting while others did the chipping, hauling, and cleanup. I was impressed with their efficiency. Westside does not remove or grind stumps, but Mark offered to leave me names of people who could do the work for me if I was interested. I had some branches from two bushes I had removed the previous week. Mark allowed me to put them through his chipper to save me from hauling them away. He diagnosed a vine maple as diseased and dying. I asked him to cut it down, which he did. Westside Tree cleaned up nicely, removing all the cut wood and branches, raking the yard, and blowing the driveway areas. Overall a very impressive job. I look forward to using Westside again, should the need arise.

The work was done quickly, effectively and efficiently. All clean up was completed as promised.

Mark replied to my initial email within a couple of hours, then stopped by the next day to provide a quote. The quote was less than another I already had, so we scheduled the work for the following Monday. Mark and his crew called to tell us they were on the way, then arrived as promised and completed the job within 2 hours. They cleaned up all the mess and the trees look great!

Mark came out and confirmed that one of the trees needed to come down due to its proximity to the house. He did not urge me to cut down the other two but told me that they could be trimmed back and shaped. He gave me a bid and told me to think about it. He also gave me some dates when the work could be performed. We decided to have the work done. They arrived on time, and completed the work promptly. They cleaned up fruit , branches and wood so well that I only had to pick up a few dozen plums that ended up scattered throughout the yard.
