They were very efficient and competent. They were friendly and the turn around was incredible. They gave me an estimate in the morning and returned the same afternoon to do the work. The price was very reasonable, as well.

Three men arrived on time, pruned our big Beech tree, cleaned up and left. It took about three hours to complete the job. They put 4x8 sheets of plywood against the fence to protect it. One man climbed the tree with harness and ropes, they remove several large limbs and numerous small limbs. They left the larger limbs for firewood at my request. They hauled the smaller debris to the street and ran it through their grinder. They did exactly what I'd discussed with their estimator earlier. The climber asked me about a couple of limbs he wasn't sure about. My only concern was that it was fairly expensive for 3 men for 3 hours.

John, the owner came out same day I called for appointment and gave estimate. I was happy with estimate and he was able to have a crew out the next morning to do the job. The crew and John were there on time and had the job done in timely manner. I was impressed with their professionalism and safety measures. Had not watched tall trees taken out before, and was amazed by the person who climbed the trees and cut them down for removal. The crew pulled the limbs and tree trunks safely away, cut up and mulched on the spot. They laid down plywood to protect landscape plants and rock walls. The cut the tree trunks into rounds for us to split for firewood. The crew trimmed up multiple other trees and cut out dead branches and mulched. They had the job done within four hours and totally cleaned up. I was very impressed and will not hesitate to call John and his crew again. I will definitely recommend his services to anyone.

The estimator came promptly and gave me a written estimate of the work that I had requested. The crew did a perfect job in removing the trees and branches that I had requested. They were professional, very knowledgeable, polite and cleaned up when the job was completed. I thought that the price charged for an hour's work was somewhat high. I should have gotten more than one estimate so that is on me. The estimator was resistant and reluctant to give me some wood chips which was disappointing especially considering the fee charged. It would have been helpful to me if they had been able to shovel some wood chips for me out of their chipper. On the positive side, I have to say that the crew was efficient, pleasant, accommodating and knowledgeable. And I did receive a pleasant call from the management asking about how my experience with their team went.

The work crew arrived on time and quickly got to work. It was very apparent that they had a lot of experience, but John was there to supervise the workers all day. When I asked him about this, he said he always stays at the work site to supervise the project and make sure everything goes according to plan. We really appreciated his crew's efficiency and friendliness. We had gotten 3 other quotes for this job, and John's was by far the most reasonable. Not only did the crew do their job well, they left the yard in great condition when they were finished. Since we recently moved to this property, we were unsure of how to chop the logs into firewood. One of the men on John's crew advised us to rent a log splitter and assured us it was an easy tool to learn to use. What great advice! We didn't even realize such a tool existed, and it made the job of splitting the logs ever so much easier. After the job was finished, we discovered there were a few pieces of wood that were too big for the log splitter. When we called John back about this, he sent a crew out the same afternoon to take care of the problem. We would definitely hire them again.

I saw J & F Tree Service working at a site near my home and was impressed by the quality of the equipment and work being done so I looked them up on Angie's List. After reading many favorable reviews I gave them a call. They asked several pertinent questions about the work I needed done and then told me that an estimator would be by within two days to look at the trees and give me and estimate. Two hours later I got a call and the estimator arrived fifteen minutes later. He surveyed the job site and asked me what work I wanted done. After describing all the job details the estimator gave me and estimate which seemed reasonable so I accepted his bid. I had read several reviews from various tree services for similar work so I felt I knew about how much the work should cost. The crew came by fifteen minutes later and began work immediately. They had the first tree down safely in about ten minutes and started chipping and bucking the remains. By this time some neighbors showed up and we watched them bring in their very impressive stump grinder. It took about 20 minutes for them completely grind up the roots and stump leaving about six to ten inches of compost above the ground level in the area around the now ground stump. I had agreed to take care of the chips but they do offer to remove them for a price. My neighbors wanted the bucked wood so went off for their wheelbarrows. By the time they returned J & F Tree Service was done chipping the second tree and was grinding the stump. The second stump was near electric and natural gas utilities so they could only grind it about six inches deep. They completed the grinding and then cleaned up the street and neighbors lawn with a team of blowers. By the time my neighbor came back for the second load of wood J & F Tree Service was loading up their trucks and heading out for the next job. I estimate a total of ninety minutes from their arrival to the departure. They left the work site, neighbors yard and street very neat. I got lucky about the timing but even so it was a really well executed operation and I was very pleased with their work. I would definitely recommend J & F Tree Service to anyone who needs a tree removed. They have really good equipment and their workers are very proficient with it.

I had a few stumps so I thought I'd try and save some money and rented a stump grinder at home depot. It was the large tracked unit they have for just over $200 / day. That turned out to be a bust as it was entirely too slow and at the rate I was going it was going to take at least an hour per stump or about 10 hours for the entire job. Our neighbor had J &F grind their stumps so they gave me a referral to J &F. John came out, gave me a bid, and one of his workers showed up with the stump grinder within an hour. The worker spent nearly an hour - and that's with a large Vermeer machine that looked like it was cutting through the stumps like butter. Turns out it's a lot more work than I realized and the decision to hire a pro was absolutely the right way to go. The rental units are a joke for anything more than 1 or 2 small stumps. Glad I paid a little extra and saved myself a hard day of work. I haven't hired any other stump grinder so I can't compare J &F to anyone, but I really can't imagine better service. They got the work done quickly, the equipment was in good working order, and they were just good guys to talk with so I'd definitely recommend J &F.

We have arborvitaes all across back property line and some on side. They had grown to over 16 feet and needed to be pruned back. John, of J and F Tree Service came out same day I called and gave a very reasonable quote. Their crew came out the next business day and did a wonderful job of cutting them down to 12 feet. Clean-up was exceptional. I highly recommend J and F Tree Service.

Called and owner came by same day talked about job and gave me estimate. Liked his estimate and how he laid out the job signed him up that day. Was scheduled for the next week but called two days later with an opening . Crew showed up did the job and left area clean and neat. Was very happy with J &F Tree service and would use them again.

J & F were in the neighborhood and since we had used them earlier this year to take down some trees. I asked to get a bid for stump grinding that I had decided to put off when they took the trees down. After getting the quote, I decided to have the work completed. Within a few days, utility line detection people were in the yard, marking where all of the water, electrical, cable and downspout lines were. J&F showed up a week after the estimate, as promised, completed the work of grinding the stumps down 18 inches below the ground, they raked in the grindings and dirt, cleaned up after they were done.

IT went pretty well. They came earlier than expected, removed the tree and cleaned up well after themselves.

We were very pleased with the work done by J&F. When I first contacted them they were responsive and helpful over the phone. I initiated contact via the Angie's List website and they were the only arborists of 3 to actually contact me back. They showed up within a day or two for an estimate and that ended being the final price. There were no surprises. When we discussed what we wanted they listened and provided professional advice on what would be best for the trees based on our needs. They didn't just come in and top off the tree. They removed the appropriate branches to open up the canopy and removed the outlying branches that were hitting the house and intruding on the neighbor's properly. However, they were particular to make sure what they trimmed would encourage a healthy tree. At the end of the job we inspected the trimming and had them do a little additional trimming to reduce the hang over the driveway. They were very willing to do so and finished up to our liking. I would highly recommend them. They are professional and knowledgeable; keeping our needs and the cost in mind.

Called Thursday evening for a quote. They came out Friday for an assessment. They called Tuesday to arrange a Tuesday noon time slot. Finished before 2pm. Went great. We added the the removal of the tall red maple while they were onsite. The cedar was in a narrow part of the side yard. Very impressive how quickly and carefully they worked together, one up the tree and another removing the debris. To us, it looked like they had the skills and the right equipment to do the work efficiently. They mulched the branches (very impressive how their machinery eat whole trees/branches greater than 6ft long very quickly and cleanly). They also cut up the cedar trunk into small pieces and cleaned up everything afterwards.

After getting 3 or 4 bids, we liked J and F tree service the best. On the day the work was done, they arrived with new, and bright colored equipment (cool). They promptly started on the cedar tree that was right next to the house, which went flawlessly, cutting it down and chipping the remains. Then the crew took down a section of fence to get to the back yard, to cut the curly willow. We were concerned about that tree being so near our neighbors homes.. hoping that the tree would pose no problems for them when it was being taken down. It was no problem for the crew. They took down that tree, and chipped up the remains, and ground down the stumps for us... all included in the price estimate. John even took care of finding someone to take away the useable cedar for burning in the fireplace (which was a big help to me). The crew cleaned up everything, and put the fence back up, and I was thankful for their dedication to keeping the customer happy. John and Kristi are great people to work with... and I was very happy with their service. Their skill level and communication are excellent. I would recommend them to anyone for this type of work.

I responded to an flyer that came in the newspaper as it happened to arrive at a most opportune time. I'd just been warned by a friend that a branch of my huge maple tree looked like it might become a threat to my home at some point in the future as a huge knothole was just below the juncture of the limb. I had also been troubled by a 42-year-old fir tree that looked unhealthy and was dropping pine cones and needles by the thousands every year. There were a few other trees that needed some attention as well. John came out promptly and surveyed the trees in question; he gave me a verbal quote on the spot. When I acted shocked at the price, he told me that a crane would be necessary in order to do the job quickly, safely, and efficiently. I had received a few estimates last year for some of the work, so I didn't feel it was necessary to get more. I also felt I could trust John; he prides himself on being honest and dedicated to providing the best work and service possible. I found him to be a person who would go above and beyond to make his customers satisfied. The work was done efficiently, expertly and on time. Care was taken to protect my property, my home, and my neighbor's property. I can sleep easier at night knowing I'm safe from the gigantic limb, and I can look forward to working in my garden and not devoting hours to raking up pine cones, pine needles and leaves from my front yard. Be confident and comfortable if you choose J&F Tree Service to take care of your trees!

Things went very well. Good communication regarding scheduling and timing for estimate and work performed. No problems at all.

They were prompt polite and on time. Very efficient. Very professional with their work. I would recommend them to others. They did it all, with exception of the removal of logs. It was up to us to disperse the logs. It would be good if the tree service companies had a list of organizations that could use the logs. Fortunately we new of people that could use the logs.

How I came to use J and F is quite funny actually. I own a local moving company that is also featured here on Yelp and Kristi of J and F called us to use our services. During our conversation I discovered that her and her husband own a local family business as well. I asked what they do and she said tree service and removal. How perfect because I had a tree that I was concerned was dying in our front yard. So I went from being the service provider to the customer in the same conversation. Kristi set up an estimate to diagnose the tree and assess the situation. It was found that our tree was dying and would need removal. They quote was beyond reasonable and I agreed immediately to have them do the work. The appointment was scheduled in the morning at 9am. They showed up with some very impressive and newer equipment and I was immediately very confident in what was about to transpire. I was greeted by Pete who was the crew leader. He explained to me what they would do and we had a small conversation while the others two workers set up. It was fun to watch them climb, limb, and fall the tree. They did this in well under an hour. They knew that I wanted to keep my wood for burning as a courtesy Pete cut up the tree into wood stove size rounds for me to split. That saved me a bunch of work. Also, I should mention that the tree being removed was only about 6 feet from the road on a busy street so it could have been hairy. Those guys made it look easy and there was not a second that I thought they were not in total control of the situation. They had that tree limbed, felled, and cut so fast I was amazed. Next they ground the stump and that was the coolest thing to watch. That gnarly blade just melted through the stump like a hot knife through butter. Actually it reminded me more of the eraser feature in Paint Brush or Adobe Photoshop. The stump grinder swept side to side and the stump disappeared with each sweep. I would say that they ground the whole stump out in less than 5 minutes. They dug it out 18 inches beneath the surface. Very impressive. This was all around a great experience from first contact to the end of the job. I will be eager to refer J and F Tree Service to anyone needing tree service or consultation. I tell you, when you find a provider that is so straight forward and does such a flawless job it really makes and impression on you. I know this is a glowing review but they earned every bit of it. Keep up the good work guys.

They were amazingly fast once on the job and did a great job at removing and cleaning up the debris. Would certainly use their services again.

I gave you the details in the first section start to finish. Not sure what the difference of two sections is supposed to be Excellent overall experience.
