We have not used it even once because each time we try we run up against obstacles. We tried to go through them for a furnace, and it was a dead end. We could not get a call back from them. No one answers the phone, and I always have to call them because they rarely call back. We were told that they carry certain items, but when we went to see them they were unavailable. For instance, they only had one choice for skylights, and it was only one brand and one size. We called them for roofing materials and asked if we could get it at a discount. They never called us back. We went in to price one cabinet to compare the prices, and they would not help us find a price. They told us that they would not be able to just give us a price, and we would have to pay $250 for a kitchen design before they would give us prices. I was not ready to do that, and instead was only looking for the price of the cabinets. They were really nice and convincing when we are thinking of signing up, but things changed as soon as I joined. I do not like that they tell you that if you don?t sign up right then, you will never be able to sign up again. Their website is difficult to use, and you have to look at so much to find out anything. This was definitely a poor fit for us, and we have not been happy with them at all. They have not come through for us. We will absolutely not be using them again. I really regret signing up. If I had the money I spent on joining them, I would have already finished my kitchen remodel by now.
Description of Work: We signed up for DirectBuy two and a half years ago and paid for three years.

We were young and fell for the marketing presentation (I'll give them that; they are good at selling the scheme!) and we put our money down and when it came time to make these marvelous purchases for our home, guess what? They were not helpful, we only had old catalogues to look at (some were 10+ years old). When we asked for quotes, the actual price was below retail, but when they added their handling/shipping it was far more...FOR EVERYTHING!!! The items member's did buy were often discontinued, scratch and dent, but they don't tell you that. In 3 years of membership, we were never able to recoupe any of the costs, it was a total wash of the money down "their" drain. So, we lost a bit of money, but are wiser for it. Please, head this warning, they are not what they seem and you will be sorely disappointed when you just toss money out the window. If you need more proof, please google this company and look for Directbuy complaints or scams or anything not actually related to the company. For every (fake) review, there are thousands of (genuine) very bad stories of people being sold a verbal promise for thousands of dollars and not getting what they thought they were getting. You pay thousands of dollars for "fraud" plain and simple!
Description of Work: I am surprised Directbuy (AKA UCC Total Home) has never been reviewed on Portland Angie's List. Well, let me be the first to strongly WARN faithful Angie's List members to steer clear and avoid this company like the plague. We were about to purchase our new home and while looking for furniture stores on-line I found this company, which promised (you've seen the commercials) that we could "buy high end furniture, new kitchen cabinets, skys the limit at a 'fraction of the retail cost." It is not true. The services performed are this: You go to a 1.5 hour high-pressure sales meeting where they (verbally) promise you everything. For a membership fee ($5000.00 currently), you can purchase everything for your home below retail and sometimes at wholesale cost. They even tell you that shipping and handling are very low cost and this is an industry secret, no one wants you to share. That is because it's fraud, 100%. Their DEFENSE: This company is actually in good standing with the BBB. Remember: so, were the Rajneeshees (remember them? Antelope, Oregon). It is as bad as a cult, just don't drink their Koolaid. I don't know how the company (franchisee's) can sleep at night. Kharma brings me comfort, they have to live with how they have taken thousands of dollars from middle class people by frauding them!!

Went online and requested information- as they give you none. We received a call and my husband made an appointment to go and view their showroom. We then received a packet in the mail w/the "visitor's pass" and I read that you had to decide right then and there- you are given no other opportunity- while at the initial appointment whether to join or not. Not knowing the cost involved, I canceled the appointment via e-mail and gave my reasons for doing so. That was about 6 weeks ago. Since that time, we have been badgered by phone call after phone call from them (thank goodness for caller ID!)- they have probably called 30 times, sometimes 3-4 times in one night. The last call was 2 days ago and the person who called left a nasty message and basically said that you have been "wasting our time" and we have been "trying so hard to reach you to re-activate your visitor's pass". Hmmm- thought that I already told you I was not interested!!!
Description of Work: No services performed- were looking to possibly join.

I am extremely upset and feel like we were totally duped by this company. We have found items cheaper at Home Depot and Lowes and Direct Buy out and out lied to us about the products that they carry so as to hurry up our membership which I paid in full. After the presentation, which was good except we were told we had to sign up that night or not be able to at all, we were hurried through the sign up process and the owner was very rude to us and basically told us it was time to leave as he wanted to close up. We just spent $4,000!! And had no time to look at hardly any items. I should have been smarter and walked out on them then. DO NOT BE DUPED BY THESE PEOPLE AND THIS COMPANY - THERE ARE MANY TESTIMONIALS ON LINE THAT THEY ARE A SCAM. Also all the data entered in their computer was wrong my son's name, email address and phone number; so his membership was not completed for almost two months.
Description of Work: Unfortunately I signed up for this club at a very high price, but was told we could not be on the membership as my son was over 23 (he is 25). We are remodeling our home so thought that this would still be a good deal for us. We later found out after they told us that there was "NO WAY I COULD BE ON THE MEMBERSHIP," that a friend of ours who is a contractor has his "live-in" girlfriend on his membership and she has her own card with a completely different name. So I called to discuss this with them and was told "couples could have a membership together rather they were married or not." I asked what constituted a "couple" and wasn't that also just two people. As we are related and immediately family members and they are not. Also what about couples of the same sex. He (didn't get his name) told me "yes," they also could be of the same membership. I was absolutely astounded that a couple living together could be on the same membership but a mother and son could not.

They won't tell you the costs associated with their service up front before their presentation.

We attended the ''open house'' but realized that their sign-up fee was too costly for our budget. Had we known the initial sign-up cost before we attended the open house we wouldn't have wasted their time or ours.
Description of Work: Did not sign up for their plan.
