HOW Foundation

I made an appointment with HOW to have leaves removed from my yard 3 weeks in advance. On the scheduled day, I called at 2:00 when HOW did not show up at the scheduled time of 1:30 and was told they were on their way. At 2:30 HOW called and told me they did not have room in the truck to haul off my leaves and wanted to reschedule for the next day. I agreed. At 2:30 the next day I called because HOW did not show up at 1:30 again, and was told, again, they were on their way. They arrived about 3:00. Four guys worked for about an hour and a half removing leaves from the front yard only and told me they had to go, but would reschedule to finish the back and side yards another time. I had landscape people and the pool person waiting for HOW to remove the leaves from my yard. Since the original day HOW scheduled me for was a Friday, I had taken off work to be home and then they canceled and rescheduled for Saturday. I had to change my plans for Saturday and I still had to hire someone else to finish the job HOW did not do as they were hired to do. I will never use this organization again and I will tell everyone I talk to not to use them as well. They were terrible. Four guys spent almost 2 hours to remove leaves from my front yard only and my front yard is not that big!

Used this provider on two separate days, March 19 and 23, spending $160 each time. Initially a little disconcerted by the frequent break times, but when they were working they were working diligently. A team of four workers at $60/hr. accomplishes measurable progress. Additional fees apply for green waste removal. Workers are polite, well groomed, and present themselves professionally at all times.

THE JOB WAS SPLIT INTO 2 SEPARATE TRIPS WITH DIFFERENT BUT GOOD CREWS. THE SECOND DAY THE GUYS WORKED IN A COLD RAIN - MOST WOULDN'T DO THIS! I'VE USED THE HOW FOUNDATION MANY TIMES NOW.

We employed a team of four from the H.O.W. Foundation to assist with our recent move. I had absolutely no issues with scheduling, which I did multiple times because our closing date was changed. The guys arrived on time and worked diligently and efficiently. They followed detailed instructions to the letter, and even went out of their way for our special requests (putting small felt pads on the feet of the furniture that would placed on wood floors.) A few of our furniture pieces were scratched during the process, but nothing that we wouldn't expect during the normal course of moving and did not detract from our overall satisfaction with the experience. I've mentioned the Foundation to several friends and neighbors since we moved in and I am looking forward to using them again for other services we may need in the future (lawn care, painting, small projects, etc).

I was completely given the run-around and talked with three different people at the office at various times during the morning and afternoon, and what occurred was that I wasted my time sitting all day waiting on the crew instead of having an early morning move and getting my new office organized as promised. I emailed the office about getting a refund, since the move was not completed until 7 p.m. that night, but I never received a response at all. So, the "service" by the office staff was quite poor. That said, the moving crew were excellent when they finally showed up (it was not their fault they didn't get to me earlier, as they are sent where they are told); each member of the moving crew was fast, efficient, careful and courteous. All this, on the eve of one of our coming ice storms. My ratings above woujld be all "A's" for the moving crew, and the quality rating is for them, not for the office staff.

These folks are fantastic! I have also used their services for tree trimming. They come on time, get to work and do the job. This time they finished their work in under and hour so they asked if I had any other work for them. They changed light bulbs, swept the garage and were ready to do more when I told them to take the rest of the hour off. Try to find another company that would do that!
I always give a tip to these fellows, they are in a special program and are working to change their lives. Anything you give them goes into a savings account which they get when they graduate. The HOW Foundation is the first place I turn for anything that needs to be done around the house. A separate part of the foundation will also come by and pick up clothing, furniture, etc.

I love the price that I pay to get their lawn services. Whatever I ask those guys to do, they do it. They are just good steady workers and I really appreciate their service.

Service provided was excellent. I furnished the truck and HOW sent a 4 man moving team. The most considerate movers I

have ever used. They use their time very wisely. No messing around. The make a plan and work their plan.

They are good. The mowed the lawn the way I wanted it. They help people and they are down and out.­­ I think post of their people are recovered alcoholics or just out of prison or something like that. They were fine. I contacted eight companies and only two responded to me which was kind of surprising and the companies that did responded were very quick and I was very pleased.

I love these guys. They do not waste time, are respectful of their clients and their client's property. I could not have asked for more. They are priced considerably lower than other quotes I'd gotten. I ended up adding a tip for them in my payment both times. You Guys rock!

Went great - They were booked 30 days out, however they put me on a fill-in list. They called within a week and came out one afternoon. 3 guys working feverishly the entire time they were there. Several times I asked if they could do a little extra here or there and every time they were glad to help without any attitude. Incredibly hard working. I've used them to move in the past and had the same experience.

They have done a wonderful job for me. They charge $60 an hour and that is with a team of four men. They work had, are efficient and are reasonably priced. They are very, very pleasant and respectful. They do such a good job that you may need to get your name on the list fast.

Arrived on time with a crew of four workers. Did the work very thoroughly. Great job, great price.

They were fantastic. They were on time and efficient. Great guys to visit with, too. We will call them again - but they are busy! You will need to plan for lots of wait time!

I booked the tree removal appointment with HOW Foundation about a month in advance.
I called the morning of the appointment to verify that, in spite of the drizzly weather, the appointment was still on track. I was assured my appointment was still on the books for 1:00 that afternoon; that the drizzly weather would not be a deterrent.
I called again at 1:30 (30 min past the scheduled appointment) and spoke to the same man as in the morning (Gary or Jerry, not sure). I was told the crew was on another job and that they would have to rebook me for the 18th. I advised him that that was not satisfactory; I'd already used a day of vacation to keep this appointment. I had to verify several times that what he was saying was -- not only would they not be over when their current job was finished -- they would not be out at all today.
There was no apology offered, not even an apologetic tone -- only another date to rebook.
In the future, I will advise anyone and everyone NOT to call the HOW Foundation. They may quote a better price, and even say that their workers are insured while on your property, but they are NOT dependable or professional. And now I question whether they're actually insured as well.

Very pleased. Would hire again.

On 12/26/12 an intoxicated gentleman came through my neighborhood and hit a parked truck knocking it into and through my large, brick mailbox. I decided not to have it rebuilt (boy, is that expensive!), but I needed someone to come out, clean up all the smashed up bricks (plus the whole top half was intact and laying on its side in the yard), break up the concrete pad it was on and install a new mailbox on a post. These guys came out around 8:00 am and were completely done with everything by 10:30 am (and they work by the hour!!!). They were efficient, fast and extremely courteous plus they did a wonderful job. My friends, family and I will be using them for many other projects in the future.

The HOW Foundation boys arrived on time with their truck. We used their enclosed truck because we didn't have an appropriate vehicle available. That is why it cost more. They loaded a breakfront, dresser, and 3 stools in their truck and took them to our house across town. They delivered them in the same condition that they picked them up. There is a 3-hour minimum with 3 men so a small job costs more than it really should, but we were willing to pay the price.

Great firewood purchased, very friendly and helpful people, fast loading of half a rack into my car. Office is a little smokey, rest is great. Good to know, payment is only by cash or check.

They did a great job, an excellent job. The cost and everything was as good as you can get.

They came on time. Went to work quickly cleaning the leaves from the flower beds and around the fence, then mowed the 1/2 acre yard. The yard looks amazing. They charged exactly what they quoted me. They were prompt and courteous. I definitely plan to use them again.

Don't remember the amount I paid, however I think it was their minimum charge. There were multiple employees who cleaned the gutters in less than 30 minutes. Since we had no other work for them to do, it seemed a little expensive just to get the gutters cleaned, however, due to a back injury, my husband was unable to do the work this time. He'll probably do it himself in the future, We'll use them again on other projects if we can work out scheduling.
