Auto Body Work
$3,250
This was easily the most painstaking process I have ever had the misfortune of being a part of. Our car was in the shop for almost a month. We took it in and they gave us a rough estimate of $1,500. We contacted our insurance company (who was less than impressive throughout all this as well) and a couple of days later Bob Moore had permission to repair our car. Perhaps we were naive in our assumption that this would take about a week (or we ALSO weren't naive because they said that to us), but after a week we called them for a status update. Of course we couldn't get through to anyone, which became a common theme throughout the entire arduous process. Finally we had an opportunity to speak to someone (after numerous failed attempts I might add) they informed us that they found something else wrong with the car. Okay this seems reasonable. I'm not great with cars, but I can see where they might have missed something super crucial once they had everything disassembled. They said it would take a bit longer. A bit longer turned into another week. WE finally called THEM again and they said they had to order an engine carriage (I think) for the car and they were just waiting for it to arrive. They informed us that as soon as it arrived it would take no longer than two hours to finish the repairs. We waited (and waited some more). We called them again and it became rather obvious that someone forgot to order the part. So we waited. WE called AGAIN and they said that they were still waiting for the part because it had to come from "way out." Really!?! Way out? How patronizing is that? Finally the part arrived and they were correct in saying it would take no longer than a couple of hours. The bad thing is that they then had to contact the insurance company and provide them with the final cost. Apparently insurance companies don't just receive claims and write checks. I guess they actually evaluate them (which is probably a good idea on their part) but this prevented us from picking up our car when it was finished. Of course everything worked out in the end. We got our car back and it only took 30 days (30 DAYS!) which I assume is standard turnaround time (right?). On the bright side my wife and I got to car pool all month long and I got to be at work for a month without a car. I also got to ask my co-workers for rides if we went anywhere as well as rides home when my wife had to work. I really felt cool. Thanks Bob Moore Collision Center.
