Hibdon Tires Plus Auto Care

On 9/23/17 I called Hibdon Tires Plus (South) for repair of brake peddle dropping. The tech I talked to thought it sounded like the master cylinder. I brought my car to the store and again described the problem and left the care to repair. They replaced my brake pads and rotors but not the master cylinder and told me my brake problem was repaired. It was not. I went on a k long trip being careful about how I applied the brake, and returned the car to Hibdon when I returned. On 10/20/17 I returned the car to Hibdon to repair the spongy brake peddle. They bled the brakes but still did not review the brake master cylinder. They still did not fix the break problem I was having. I requested to speak to the supervisor. He told me he could not fix the problem because he didn't know what was causing the problem. I brought the car to my trusted mechanic. He did replace the brake master cylinder. The brake peddle stopped dropping to the floor and feeling spongy.

The tires went on without an issue and was done correctly. The oil change was a huge screw up. I noticed within 24 hours that my Tahoe was leaking oil. I lift it up and see that most of the oil is coming from the oil filter. I call up Hibdons notifying them of the problem and was told to bring it in. The mechanic put the car on the lift and showed me that the oil was leaking from everywhere because oil was everywhere. What do you think happens when you drive 70mph, oil spreads. He tells me to take it to Christian Brothers and would have to pull the engine and do a huge gasket change. So, I simply just go down the road two miles to Quick Change Oil where I have them do an oil change and I explain the issue to them. I actually go down under the car with the technician and we spot the issue. The oil filter had been double gasketed and tightened to the point to where they bent the oil filter metal can. This is a obvious no no and something no mechanic or even a DIYer would ever do. They changed the oil and put on a new oil filter properly the problem was fixed and there was no more leaking. I was truly dumb founded that not only did they make the mistake but could not spot the obvious problem. I was worn out and fed up with the issue so much that I did'nt even want to go back and get my money back. There is a saying that you can't fix stupid and this is true on this occasion. I will never go back to Hibdons even for tires. A rookie mistake made twice on their part. Also the oil they put it was already blackened. I don't even know if they actually changed the oil, but they changed the filter. Just pathetic.

Everything went well. It took a couple of hours for the work, but they have a waiting area and I just used the time to read. The nice thing is that you are recommended to have the tires rotated every 4000 miles and they will do that for free.

I ordered the tires I wanted from Tire Rack and had them delivered to Hibdon's because they are on the Tire Rack list of preferred installers and close to where I live. They made an appointment for the work and had the job finished in about 30 minutes. The price was exactly what Tire Rack had listed AND they included a lifetime rotate and balance at no charge (Tire Rack listed that service at $10 per tire)! Everyone I dealt with was friendly and professional. Their work was first rate - I checked the tire pressures and the balance at speed on the highway and both were perfect.

Filthy truck, and I mean filthy, is now clean!!

They're always honest in their assessments and I have never had a question about providing a service that wasn't needed. They are a quality service.

They just seem very professional. When you walk in, there is always somebody that looks up and says they will be right with you if they are busy. They did a good job. I had a slight issue afterwards and I took it back and they knew what it was right away and fixed it. I just went back because I was concerned about a noise and it turned out I needed a rear brake job so I just had them do it too.

A Plus rating.

They refused to align it without replacing the parts. I told them that would not work even if they tried and that if they removed anything from my front suspension it would just cause their parts to break. After a few minutes of negotiations I told them to just put the tires on the vehicle, I will work on the alignment later. I figured this was just the typical take advantage of a women with an alignment issue, and it was. I would just deal with an alignment later.This is when the situation went overboard. Instead of putting the requested BF Goodrich All Terrain Tire. They put on BF Goodrich Long Trail tires and they put them on the front. So old tires on the back and new tires on the front. No rotation.Long Trails do not look anything like All Terrain tires. They told my wife over and over again that is what I had requested and eventually she left.When I got home and saw the vehicle I flipped out. I called up the manager and asked him how he could let something like this happen. He told me he did not have any all terrains and would have to order them. I do not know why he told me that he did have them when i set up the appointment. He said it would be a few weeks. I told him that was not acceptable. He called Sears and found me a set of the right tires. But, I had to pay extra to get them. I had no choice since i already had tires on the front of my xterra i had paid for and they were not going to refund. Since I have drove them on a bad alignment.I was stuck in a situation and the only way out was to pay to get out. This is not the Hibdon that I remember.

The work did not cost anything because I buy my tires from them. They are great. Their punctuality could be better. Typically, they will say the work will take 50 minutes but end up taking an hour, and that is just difficult for any tire company. I am pleased with them and would use them again in the future.

They didn't try to rip me off for any other services. They gave me a $25 rebate, and I already had a $25 coupon, so I saved some money. They were quick and friendly. I liked that they didn't push other services.
