We made the best out of a situation and chose to completely remodel the entire bathroom, gutting everything. After getting several estimates we chose to go with Colin and Cherokee Plumbing based on his demeanor, professionalism and reasonable price.
Colin had very helpful suggestions on how to approach the conundrum we found ourselves in. Along the way he itemized any additional time working/materials needed, and always got our permission before doing so, never taking it upon himself to make decisions. We never had any problems with communication while working with Cherokee Plumbing.
To stay within our budget, I had him break down replacing the entire plumbing throughout the house into sections, and then decided what we wanted to do. We ultimately decided on replacing the upstairs plumbing (which was still functioning) in addition to the downstairs & left the kitchen for later.
Because we had such an extensive project and opted to do both the upstairs & downstairs plumbing Colin worked with us on the price of several aspects of the project. He also pointed it us in the right direction for selecting a new faucet and bathtub.
From the get-go, it was clear Cherokee Plumbing was a notch or two above the others. I filled out online requests for information and/or service and/or estimates at several plumbers. I heard back immediately by email and phone from Cherokee --- and never heard from the others.
So I spoke to Mary at Cherokee and she was frank, informative and very knowledgeable. And even though I called several more times with questions and changes to my schedule, she was always awesome, professional and helpful.
On the day of my appointment, two young gentlemen from Cherokee were on time, clean, polite, helpful and on the job immediately, keeping me informed every step of the way. James and Aaron were complete professionals and gave me a quote that was well-below what I had been told the cost might be. I was surprised to hear that not only did they give me a quote, but they could do the work the same day or another, if I preferred. Once I okayed the work, they left to get the parts needed and returned in a very timely manner. They informed me that they would do some of the work and that the owner of the company, Colin, would come by to complete the work and check their work. Colin did come over to complete the work. He, too, was refreshingly professional and kept me informed throughout the process. He also told me that although James and Aaron were completely capable of installing the hot water heater, he preferred to personally complete and check the biggest jobs so his customers always know they are getting the best, personal customer service they deserve. And finally, I ended up talking to Mary again to pay over the phone for my new hot water heater from Cherokee Plumbing.
A few things if you plan on using this company (which I recommend you do):
1.Get ready to be surprised by the professionalism.
2. They will encourage you to call if there if ANY problem after their work is completed. They will come out and make it right. (This is why I waited almost a week before posting a review. But everything with the hot water heater and its work at my home is great.)
3. Payment is expected at the time of work.
4. You will most-likely want to recommend any plumbing problems to Cherokee Plumbing.
I am so very happy they were referred to me and that I hired them. I will definitely hire them again when I need a plumber!
Thank you to Cherokee Plumbing, especially Colin, Mary, Aaron and James, for your help and professionalism!
I own several rent properties and have done most of my repairs for years, however I am older now and I am contracting more of the work out. I have been looking for a plumber with integrity who does not believe they deserve the pay of a brain surgeon. Colin, called and told me it would cost $400.00 to fix the leak and replace the toilet with a new American toilet. (wax seals cost $5.00 and American toilets cost as little as $129.00) I ask if the toilet was cracked, he said "No." I ask, "Do the ceramic toilets wear out? He said "sometimes the throats become rough and don't flush well." I ask , "Is that a problem with this toilet?" He said "No, it appears to operate fine, however I like to replace the old toilets when possible." I laughed and thought to myself well if you like to replace them bad enough to pay for the new toilet go ahead. I ask "What would you charge just to replace the wax seal? He said $150.00, ( a reasonable price) then he said "however when we get in there we might find...." I then stopped him and said thank you but I will do the job myself. Whenever a contractor starts out with a condition to their bid I become a little uncomfortable.
We needed a gas line installed in the laundry room, as well as some help installing the washer and dryer. As with most good plumbers, it took some time to get him out, but we soon discovered that Colin is totally worth the wait. He is incredibly thorough, and takes time to explain what he is doing. He ran into a few unexpected complications in our wall, and so spent longer than I?m sure he had planned in our attic on a hot summer day. In the end he not only got the job done, but went above and beyond. He trained us on how to use our gas water heater, and even recommended an electrician for some work we needed (we?ve since called them, and he didn?t steer us wrong ? they were also awesome).
I could go on and on about how happy we are with Cherokee, Colin and Mary, but I?ll sum it up to say that these are folks you can trust. We are thrilled to have found them, and like them so much we are getting ready to call them to install a water conditioner for us. They rock.
Colin poked around the house until he got an idea of what to do, adjusted the original estimate accordingly. We have very old galvanized steel pipes, so every time Colin said, "Hey, come look at this," I was prepared for another kick in the head. In the end they had to replace the line in from the water main. He twisted the main pipe and it tore like a soft breadstick. They had the bulk of work done in two days, with the third mostly waiting for the contractor to finish excavating the driveway.
They found a reliable general contractor for the digging. A bit more time was spent fiddling and adjusting. Everything is perfect. We need more work done on a bathroom renovation, and will definitely be using Cherokee when the time comes. Outstanding service. Very satisfied.
My call was answered promptly and all my questions were answered. We were scheduled for a service day quickly & they were on time as scheduled. The work was done professionally & timely. The guys were very nice and I was kept informed on how the work was going. The total price was as quoted. We have used Cherokee Plumbing before and will use them again.
