What I did not like was the pricing of an add on part I asked for that was not part of the original quote. I asked Kevin, the plumber, to also replace the water heater supply valve since the one currently in place was old and I figured now was the time to replace it. I knew that it would only take him a few extra minutes to cut it off and braze a new one in place. What I failed to do was ask "how much more" will this cost me--I knew the price of a new ball valve at Home Depot or Lowe's was in the $15-$30 range, so I didn't expect that my bill would go up that much as a result of my request. Well, when I went over the bill with Kevin, the price charged for the fill valve was $120. I questioned him about the price and he said it was "book price" that the office assigns to parts. I understand they are in business to make a profit, but I feel that this was a bit excessive. Lesson learned--always ask "how much more" when adding additional work onto a project.
Also note, they charge a 2% up-charge for credit card usage, so make sure you have a check.
