Fred worked with us to bring our old kitchen back to life by installing all new custom made kitchen cabinets, cooking / preparation island w/ cook top and wine cabinet, as well as all appliances. We particularly valued his professional advise that helped us open up our old small kitchen into one huge open room, to where our guests and family can enjoy our new remodeled kitchen/open space. I got to know Fred Harmon from my handyman who was also on Angie's list. At the time I bought a new house and was going to to a a major remodeling. My handyman was working on all the electrical work, dry wall and painting. I was going to replace over 20 6-panel interior doors. My handyman said the work needs precision and he wouldn't even attempt to do for me. He recommended Fred to me because Fred ever worked for his basement remodeling and he knew his work very well. Fred was working for a big company then so he only came out do some work on Saturday. His labor was rated at $40/hr. So I scheduled him in to install our interior doors. He was very good and quick at what he was doing. He worked non-stop. I thought he could take a short break at some point. At noon he would had a quick lunch and resumed work. I thought he was a truly hard worker. From him I learned for the first time that the door had orientation from inside to outside. One side was slightly beveled. So there was only one direction can you put it on. There was something else impressed me. There was one time he accidentally screwed up on a hole he drilled on a sliding closet door. He told me that he would pay for the door and deduct half and hour labor for me. I was really surprised and impressed.

One of the big jobs he did for me was replacing a exterior French door. The old one was an odd size. It was larger than the standard ones at the store. To order a customized size would cost a lot more. Fred took some measurement and told me that he could put the typical French door for me and frame the gap. He gave me a list of some lumber to buy. When I had the door and lumbar he just did everything all by himself in less than a day. It was beautiful.

I had used Fred over many weekends since he worked for a company on weekdays back then. He corrected all the ugly trim works around our windows and doors. He toothed in several pieces of damaged oak floorings in a couple of hours. It would have cost me hundreds had it done by flooring company. He didn't even have the special equipment. I had no idea how he did it. They looked like original. He also installed a wood bench in our basement which was really beautiful and every guest loved to sit on it. He re-framed our basement during the remodeling. He also did some repair work for our deck and replaced some railings. Every work was well done.

From my encounters with Fred I experienced quality work at very competitive rate. He is a highly experienced and skilled professional who can do a wide range of work, from framing to fine carpentry. More importantly, he is a man with superb work ethics. He told me that if he didn't do a good job he wouldn't feel happy going home. Even now I still enjoy and talk about his every piece of work in my house. I have been a member of Angie's list for over 5yrs. I have hired numerous contractors from Angie's list and they were all wonderful professionals. If I have to name one of the best, Fred Harmon is the man.
