Description of Work: We had a new Rheem hot water tank installed in April, 2010. Cory, the owner's son, arrived right on time and in a no-nonsense, work-man-like, efficient working mode had the old tank disconnected and the new tank installed. It was expertly tested, the old tank put aside for later disposal, the basement area cleaned up and Cory was on his way. The following week the old tank, as promised, was picked up for disposal. Cost $575.00. In February, 2012, a new Zoeller sump pump was installed by Cory, with the same excellent workmanship as mentioned above in installing the hot water tank. Cost $260.00. In addition, when Cory was installing the sump pump, he mentioned that the water actuated sump pump which Don, the owner, previously installed in July, 2011 (Cost $350.00) had been recalled by the manufacturer because of a gasket issue which caused water leakage. He said he would come back later and replace the water actuated sump pump at no cost, which he did in a very timely time frame. In addition, the sump pump pit has to be carefully sealed because it is part of a radon detection system which has been in place since July, 2003. This sump pump pit was then sealed by Don at no cost. American Plumbing has done numerous small jobs like leaking faucets, installing frost freeze faucets, toilet repairs, etc. all done with the same excellent results as mentioned above.

My previous experiences through the years with plumbers has been ... don't clean the bathroom before the repair is done. Why? The water and soaked towels, etc., etc., means I needed to clean after the repair. Well, American Plumbing brings this necessary service to an incredible new leve. Prompt. Courteous. Efficient. I cannot say enough about the recent appointment I had with this company. I only wish I had mentioned more than the $15.00 internet discount, as I now see that seniors receive a 30 percent discount. (Recently qualifying for such discount, I need to train myself to say ... member of Angie's List and AARP, have a buckeye card, am a senior, etc. Despite my own oversight, I will highly recommend this company; and will use them for any future plumbing needs I may have. You will not go wrong with this company. Simply, outstanding!

Description of Work: Gas line leaks in basement, Columbia shut off gas. Two men from American Plumbing came out. They pumped air into the lines,(this is an absolute must when the gas is shut off. (Columbia gas told me to make sure the plumbing company was able to do this). This is necessary because once there is no gas in the lines, air must be injected to find leakes. They scanned the entire house both inside and out. They even found a leak in flex hose at the dryer which Columbia didn't find. They installed several new ball valves to replace the old water faucet type valves. This company was outstanding in every way. The price was $175.00 Robert M Paull

Description of Work: Installed a shut off valve for main internal water line and cap for refrigerator water line. This was done after a failure of a water supply line caused significant damage. Bottom line: TURN OFF YOUR WATER IF YOU GO OUT OF TOWN!!

Description of Work: I have used AM PL since the early 80s-never disappointed. In June sewage backed up in to the downstairs shower and toilet. First they snaked unsuccessfully, then used a camera to locate the blockage which alas was in the front year. They dug, cleaned out, and added a "clean out" as the original could not be located. ($900) In October the drain tiles around the house's perimeter were snaked and the sump pump was cleaned to finish the job. ($175)

Description of Work: A supply line to my dishwasher came loose, and there was no shut-off valve on the main plumbing in the basement.I had to shut off the water to my entire house, because I could not isolate the dishwasher. After contacting a friend for an emergency recommendation, i got a call from this company within 10 minutes, and the said they would be right out. About 15 minutes later, Corey arrived, and diagnosed the problem, and the fix, which was done in another 10 minutes. He said he could do this blindfolded, and I believe it!

Description of Work: Our sump pump was discharging water but it was backing up in the line outside and spewing out of the nearby downspout. The workers dug down to the sump pump connection just outside the exterior wall of the house to confirm that there was not a break in the line. They then ran a snake into the main discharge to the storm sewer and determined that the line was frozen in one spot. Per their suggestion, we were able to wait a few days until the ice dam thawed, and then reconnect the hose. We had previously redirected the hose to our utility tub. The company did not charge for a ''full'' snake job. They were polite, neat, and offered a less costly solution to the problem.
