Very poor communication, just showed up ready to paint. Exterior stucco was sprayed with overspray on all windows, etc. Had to spend 12+ hours repairing spots missed, oversprayed and damaged. Very sloppy, had to powerwash concrete from paint on sidewalks and driveway. Paint quoted in contract was not used, used Sherwin Williams contractor grade paint/stain instead. Would not recommend or use in the future.

It was awful - one problem after another. Don't get fooled by the salesman - work is contracted out to incompetent people.

Price quoted was $1,000, which seemed reasonable for the job. The estimate was done well, but this is a one person shop it seems and they just contract out work.  They wanted 50% up front to pay for materials, which I did and then had to hound them for about 10 weeks to show up.  I finally threatened to report them to BBB and got a little attention. This project started in June and was semi-completed in September.  I had to finish it off myself.

The house painting went well and only needed one touch up which still has not been completed.  The deck on the other hand was a total nightmare.  The deck started to flake the newly painted color in the middle of the winter.  Which I was told since the winter was so hard and that I had a dog the deck would flake. The flaking turn to pealing and now the entire deck must be strip, cleaned, and repainted.  They ruined my deck and are refusing to make it correct.  Since they said they do not warranty decks at all even for workmanship.  I did my home work and called Behr about this issue.  Behr paint said that the painters did not prep the deck correctly.  Behr requires that the deck be cleaned with their cleaner first.  I know that this was not complete because I was home when this painting happened.
I am stil in discussion with MC Painting trying to get this resolved.  If they fix this issue I will change my review.

I wish I would have read the reviews from Jan 5, 2013 and June 9, 2013, as they mirror the results and customer service that I encountered, which were both poor.  Once the owner "sells" you on his story about taking over his father's business, that is the last you hear from him, unless you hound him with emails, phone calls and/or text messages.  I had requested a simple job which was to clean and stain an outdoor fence.  The initial work was to be completed October of 2013.  While the subcontractors showed up and cleaned the fence, the subsequent paint job was not thorough, leaving many boards not completely stained, as well as no stain in between the vertical fence boards.  I then attempted to contact MC paining via their office line, and did not receive return phone calls.  It was not until I emailed and called the owners cell phone constantly that I got a return call.   The owner told me that it would be corrected, but he never came to see the problem.  I then never heard back from anyone, so I began to call and email them again in March (5 months later) to see when they were going to complete the work.   The subcontractors came to my house in March, and I explained again what needed to be corrected.  It was clear at this point the owner and subcontractor was not aligned and they were very unorganized.  They finally came back again in April, after I called the owner several times, and came to my house to complete the work on April 19, but the owner never came.   They corrected a couple of issues, but still left several boards not  stained completely and did not stain between the vertical boards (again).  I called the owner that next week, but never received a return phone call.  Given that I had issues, and that I had been dealing with them for over 6 months, I was surprised that the owner did not follow up with a courtesy call, regardless of the results.  I emailed MC paining on May 21 to inquire why I had not heard back from anyone, and I did receive an email that the owner would be contacting me.  That was almost two weeks ago, and I have still have not been contacted.  At this point, I will be better off to correct the issues on my own, and obviously not use this company again.  It is apparent to me, that once MC painting "wins" the work, they subcontract the bid out, and then want little to do with the customer.   Too bad, as I was looking to support a local small business.

The initial visit to determine the price of the fence went very well and the provider made it seem like they could get started on the work immediately. The project did not begin for another 5-6 weeks after numerous calls to the provider. It took several weeks for the provider to even submit plans to our homeowners' association. When they finally submitted the papers, it was to the wrong association. Throughout the process we contacted them repeatedly and they were very bad at answering the phone and responding to messages and e-mails. Once the start date approached the materials were delivered and sat in our front yard (on our lawn) for about one week. When the workers showed up to start on the fence we realized that the provider submitting the wrong plans for the fence they priced initially. The work crew consisted of one man and his son (who had never put in a fence before). Even the man said that he had not done this type of work in a very long time. The work progressed very slowly partly due to the hard ground in our back yard and partly due to their inexperience. The workmanship on the fence is ok but I had to point out to the main worker that boards were not screwed all the way in. In fact, at first they tried to use nails that were too long and were sticking out on the other side of the fence. The spacing between the boards is ok but in some places not very even. There were a couple of times when the two workers did not show up and after our phone calls we were told they were summoned to another "emergency" job. They also did not clean up properly after putting in the fence. They left all of the leftover soil in the back of my yard. I had to dispose of it myself afterwards. Overall, the fence does not look that bad but based on the price we paid, this entire process was far too stressful and the quality not quite good enough. The price was comparable to other contractors; we only chose this provider because they assured us they could get started right away which was far from what happened.

Specific requests were written into  the contract and ignored by the subcontractors, such as sanding prior to painting.  The subcontractors were so scary looking we locked all doors, stayed on the premises and changed the garage code after completion .. just in case.
The owner comes to your house to give the estimate, nicely dressed and waxes about continuing his father's tradition now that he has taken over the company.  Then he disappears.  Once the contract was signed, he was inaccessible.  Their office
manager could use some customer service training and either did not answer the phone or did not fulfill requests.  The one year free touch up?  Good luck getting that.
Beware of any company that every week has a flyer in the ValuPack.
I'd avoid Buckeye Decks too - same owner.

MC Painting doesn't do any of the work themselves, they just contract
the work out to other individuals. The painter was very friendly and
arrived on time but the work quality was sub-par. Dripping paint on
walls and on floors. I had to walk around all day and supervise. The
areas that I didn't supervise and correct myself came out horribly with
tons of sag and lumps on the walls. After the sun came up the next day, I
contacted MC Painting and requested that someone come and fix it since
it was pretty bad. I was told I would get a call right back and someone
might be able to come that weekend. Instead, I heard nothing for 3 weeks
and wound up fixing it myself.
Dealing with MC painting has been a horrible experience and they are clearly very unorganized.
Would not recommend.

Response from MC Painting & Deck Restoration Inc

"We're sorry that the price on your quote was incorrect. It appears that when our estimator ran his numbers, he did them for 270 feet of cedar fence instead of 170 feet. We are typically very close in price to our competitors and price match with them often. We have professional crews that do very nice work, and our owners are very involved in each job. It is unfortunate that you decided to post a negative comment about our company instead of calling to inquire about the price disparity. We hope you enjoy your new fence."

MC Painting uses subcontractors and they do not over see their projects.  It started when the sub contractors started spraying the building without covering the windows or the light fixtures.  They sprayed everything.  I just had new sliding glass doors installed and they were completely covered in paint along with my new light fixtures and everyone else's doors and fixtures.  I immediately contacted the board of the association and Chris Cox, owner of MC Painting informed us that he was firing the first group of subcontractors.  Again, he took no ownership of the issue.   He offered the clean the windows that they had sprayed.  I refused the help to clean my windows and instead did it myself because I did not trust the subcontractors.  The next time I saw the subcontractors, a new group had started painting the buildings.  It was below 30 degrees and I questioned them that it my be too cold to be painting the buildings.  Their continued unprofessionalism caused me to run for the board of the condo association so I could get rid of them.  We stopped the MC Painting contract and informed them that they were no longer needed for the last building.  Chris Cox sent me the final invoice on November 1, 2007.  On or about the 15th of November, Chris Cox came onto the property and posted notices on each owner's door that we were not paying his bill, we were outside the 30 days net and that he was putting a lien on the property.  It was a scare tactic and since some of our unit owners are older, they were very upset.

I will never ever use MC Painting and I tell everyone that I can reach about their tactics.  Please run from this company.  Chris Cox is a crook and he hides under the "family owned business" persona.

They did not do the job the way we wanted them to do and they used sub contractors. The other company came out and looked at the job and pointed out what was wrong and he agreed what was wrong. MC Painting agreed to come back and re-do it and left a can of paint on the porch. They never came back. We will never use them again and we do not recommend them. They never did anything about the mess-up. Thereafter we had to paint the trim area that they messed up.

I gave them my contact info at the Home & Garden show. They contacted me within a few days, and I scheduled a time for someone to meet me at my home and provide an estimate for paver patio, cedar fence and decking steps. Chad met me on March 9, we discussed my design, what I was thinking and his suggestions. He left saying that he would send me an estimate. I never heard back, and figured that he wasn't interested in or too busy to do my job. But on April 16...5 1/2 WEEKS LATER...I received an email with an estimate! Seriously?!?! By that time, not only had I had spoken with and received estimates from multiple companies, but my new fence and stairs were already built and I had scheduled another reputable and responsive company to install the patio. Another comment - when the project is complete, you will step down from the steps onto the patio, so they will be up against each other. An experienced patio installer told me last year that the decking steps should be built before the paver patio..."sticks before bricks" he said. When I told Chad that, he disagreed stating that the patio should be built first and the steps should rest on top of the pavers. Every single other landscaping company that came and gave me an estimate (including the one doing the job) said that the steps should be built first. I would be wasting money on pavers and a patio underneath the steps that is not usable and no one could see. The steps are plenty stable enough on the posts set in concrete. Makes me wonder how much experience / knowledge Chad actually has when everyone else thought differently.

They hire subcontractors which told MC that they coated the trim twice, but they actually only painted it once. My husband called Chris at MC Painting to come out and look at it. He told my husband he was right and that it needed a second coat. Chris said he would send someone out and for us to leave paint on the porch for them to do the second coat. We left paint on the porch for 2 months and no one ever came out to do it even though my husband called multiple times. They even tried to say they already came out. My husband is going to do it himself since the subcontractors never showed up. They did a good job on the stucco, but they failed at completing the trim job and did not act professionally. I did think that the prices were in line, but we didn't expect this kind of service because they had a good rating on Angie's List.
