They scheduled the date I needed and the technician was prompt. He removed the pedestal pump and installed the new one. He also changed out some of the pipes to the outdoors. The job was done quickly and neatly. I have used Jack Woods since 1976 when we first moved into the house. They do the job quickly and correctly. I have never had other estimates for jobs because I trust the company and have never had a problem with their service.
Description of Work: They installed a submersible sump pump to prepare for my radon mitigation process.

The job couldn't have been netter. Bill explained all he was doing and the results were very satisfying.
Description of Work: Bill came on time and installed a new toilet for us. Our builder had not installed the original unit correctly, so the job was much more than normal. But he did it professionally and promptly. He also replaced the workings in a second bathroom toilet. We were amazed at the difference when things are done professionally! We highly recommend Jack woods Plumbing.

The repairman was prompt and professional. He was friendly, but not chatty. He cleaned up after himself, and left the kitchen and bathrooms neat. I think he worked quickly, and his work was very good.

14 year old heater popped and dumped water everywhere. Research narrowed down to Bradford whites (JL or other authorized dealer) or Rheem (Home Depot). Went with Bradford white heater from JL since it didn't require annual draining like the similarly priced Rheem. Initial inquiry and scheduling were effortless with JL. Price was a flat all inclusive except for city permit and extra parts. Two guys showed up with heater and installed with no hassle. Great experience with them. The only thing I would pick on was that the drain pain cost seemed high. Not sure how much others charge but 100 for a 20-30 part plus some PVC felt high. If you do go with them, consider asking if it will save any money to get your own pan if your city requires it. Other than that, great experience and heater is humming along great so far!

Mark installed the faucet beautifully and it was not an easy job. It is wonderful. The garbage disposal, though, was defective. Mark advised me to get another one, call for a new appointment, and the person who came out would then switch the new one in and take out the defective one. I did that, and on the second day, Tim came out. He easily, quickly removed the defective garbage disposal and installed the new one. He did a GREAT job. I am unable to put the cost of service because I have not yet received the invoice. I found this company on Angie's List and I am so glad that I did.
Description of Work: On the first day, Mark came to install a new faucet and replace our garbage disposal. I had purchased both items.

Replaced exterior sillcock -- was a difficult install as it went into a closed wall, instead of through the bandboard (they provided the sillcock). Also removed old kitchen faucet and installed new customer provided faucet. Overall, a great experience. Have used them before (and will again) and they are always good (prompt/polite/professional). On this particular job, I give just a slight ding in that a bit of the cover plate used to cover where they opened the wall ended up on top of the baseboard and, therefore, the cover plate did not fit flush against the wall.

I think I've explained it above. He fixed the dishwasher, showed me what he did, and treated me like an intelligent human being while doing all I've discussed.
Description of Work: I bought all new appliances for a condo that I purchased. I had another company, that was suggested by the place I purchased the appliances, come out and install. Within months, I noticed the dishwasher was leaking and ruining the hard wood floor in the kitchen. Still under warranty, I called whirlpool, and they had someone come and 'fix' it. About 2 weeks ago, I discovered that the bath room below where the dishwasher was 'installed' was dripping, and after simply using a piece of wood, there was a downpour of water. Jack's came out and, although the gentleman may have been perceived as young, he was appalled by the 'installation' and for the dishwasher. Not only had the dishwasher not put even screwed in, it was installed with 1 and 1/2" above the floor, thus leading to the leak (s). I now have to not only replace my floor, but also the ceiling to the downstairs bathroom. I will attempt to return to where I purchased the stainless silver appliances with the company recommendation to install, but after three attempts, Jack's finally did it right. And, at a price that was so affordable I almost fell over! I can't suggest this company enough. Skilled, professional, cost efficient, as well as treating me (a middle aged woman) like an intelligent human being while explain what was done. It's been my experience in the past that single women have a big "X" on our backs indicating we can't understand 'handyman' work. Totally the opposite with this company. I could go on, but seriously, if you don't understand plumbing, whether you are male or female, this is the place to call.

Given the difficulties encountered, it went pretty good. The water heater is located in my basement and very difficult to access. Removal was hard, so it was fortunate that I had anticipated this and had some help lined up to assist with removing the old heater and getting the new heater into the basement. In addition, the vent had to be redirected as the unit was taller then the existing one, even though I purchased the shortest one available. As difficult as it was, he never once complained and went about his task in a pleasant manner. The cost ended up being nearly $100 more than quoted, but that was because it took him longer than anticipated to complete the task (of no fault of his own). I was very happy and satisfied with the service.

My wife and I were on vacation and received a call from a family member at 3pm on Sunday afternoon that there was water running down one of our walls. We were told that the drywall was wet, paint was bubbling, and water was leaking in the basement below. We called several plumbers, and Jack Woods, called us back within an hour. He came to our house and fixed the problem within hours. All I can say is that I am so glad we called him! He did a great job, and we were able to enjoy the rest of our vacation. Thank you so much!

Awful. We paid this guy $80.00 to do an inspection on our plumbing because of a banging sound whenever we used the washing machine and our leaking pipes. He took our $80.00 and said nothing needed to be done; that the sound was coming from a reverberation in the water heater, but the water heater did not need to be replaced and whatever it was making the sound was not causing any damage. Also said our leaking pipes did not need replaced because we had clamps on them. TWO WEEKS later, on a Saturday night, we had a leaking pipe that needed to be replaced for $800.

I called this company to arrange an appointment because we had a small leak under the kitchen sink. We have used this company before and have been very impressed with their responsiveness. A plumber arrived within just a few hours, after calling to confirm that he was on his way. He easily found and fixed the problem. I will hire this company again in the future to replace the garbage disposal and a faucet in a bathroom. They are terrific!! Much thanks to this company for always being so responsive.

I called Monday morning and got on the schedule the same day. Very responsive. I had very old 1950's plumbing under my kitchen sink, pipes would not thread, leaking, corroded, etc. Bill cut out all the old pipes and replaced with new. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. VERY reasonable cost, I have found my new plumbing company and recommend them highly.

Very professional, even had shoe covers on. Removed items from under the sink and did some minor cleaning. I did not expect that they clean up the water leakage. They were careful to not get any debris on the counter and the floor. They offered to put all the cleaning supplies back under the sink, but I declined. Seemed very up to do date about all aspects of the repair. Friendly gentleman.

Prior to Jack Woods coming out we had 2 other estimates from 2 well known plumbing companies, and both companies made it sound like it would be hard to get parts and it was a complicated job. The first was $1200.00 and he said he would have to cut into the wall which is wallpapered. He also estimated it to be a 4 or 5 hour job. The 2nd estimate was for $600.00 and he also wanted to cut into the wall and was very arrogant. When we said no thank you we were going to call Jack Woods he said "fine let it be their headache". When the Jack Woods tech came out he was courteous, knowledgeable, not cocky and immediately knew how he was going to go about fixing it. He gave us an estimate of $400.00 and said he would have parts for the shower within 2 days, and had the toilet fixed within literally 10 minutes. 2 days later the shower was fixed, the tech did NOT need to cut into the wall, and he said that cutting into the wall would have been the wrong way to try to access the problem. And it only took a little over an hour. We are very pleased with the repairs aesthetically and functionally. We will never shop around again, Jack Woods will be our first call.

I think I have found my new favorite plumbing company. I was able to schedule an appointment right away. Rick was pleasant and professional. Tim Reed is a plumber with 38 years experience (his statement), but it was clear he knew what he was doing, so he worked efficiently and neatly. I hung around and asked questions, and he was very helpful in explaining how to keep the lines from the sinks clearer than they were and how to make sure the disposal was cleaned out on a periodic basis (fill sink with water and flush). Some of the pipes were a bit clogged, so he snaked the side drain, and then he checked to make sure it was flowing clearly to the sewer and not backing up in the basement sink (on the same line). Although my chatting with him may have resulted in a bit more time for the repair (two hours total), I think I learned very useful info that with my new plastic pipes should mean we don't have much future expense on the kitchen sink. (Incidentally, he had to redo the wiring on the Waste King as it came with a plug and we have a direct electrical.) So far it's working fine and I'm flushing the pipes as recommended.
Description of Work: Installed a Waste King disposal that we had bought through Costco. Also redid all the undersink pipes with plastic (dual sink with attached dishwasher).

Everything went mostly ok except for the replacement of the actuator system. Apparently there are 2 separate pieces to the actuator--the contraption itself and the round disc seal on the bottom that covers the pipe where the tank drains when you flush. The first plumber replaced the round seal with a green rubber disc--not an American Standard part. This worked perfectly for a few days and then it started to leak. I called them and they sent a second plumber out about a week later (partly due to my crazy work schedule and the fact that I needed to be home for a 4-hr block of time). The second plumber replaced the green disc with a second green disc--he figured that maybe the initial part that was installed was a faulty part. This second green disc did the exact same thing as the first--it worked perfectly for a few days and then started to leak. It would drain the tank about an inch in about 30 mins, so the tank was constantly filling up every 1/2 hour. I called them again and about a week later, the first plumber came back out and installed a legitimate American Standard rubber disc seal. It has been about 2 wks since they installed the American Standard factory part, and it has not failed or compromised! I did not have to pay for the 2nd and 3rd service appointments, which was great. And, the plumbers who came were courteous, friendly, and professional--they answered all of the questions I had and were willing to share their professional knowledge (which I enormously appreciate!!!) about various plumbing things, while I "picked their brains" about gutting/remodeling/repairing the 70s bathroom, etc. But, I wish they had installed the legitimate American Standard part from the very beginning--it would've saved me 3 weeks of headache & fooling around (and wasting a lot of water). Luckily, my home has more than one bathroom and I could turn the water off to that particular toilet. But, the "problem" toilet belongs to the Master Bedroom, so having off-and-on use of that toilet for a period of 3 weeks was NOT ideal in any way. It also would've saved them from having to come to my home THREE times, if they had used the American Standard factory part in the first place.
Description of Work: Fixed toilet. The riser from the pipe in the floor/wall to the tank was leaking, and the flapper was not making a tight seal. The plumber fixed the riser, no problem. He brought all the tools/supplies he needed--I had towels and a bucket ready and available, but he didn't use my stuff at all. As for the flapper...the toilet is a 70s American Standard that actually requires a contraption called an actuator. Over the years with different owners, someone along the way jerry-rigged the toilet with a regular flapper, which was not the proper thing to do, and that's why it failed over time. The plumber replaced the jerry-rigged flapper with the actuator--the part that actually should've been there in the first place.

Barry arrived on time and was finished with everything in 2 hours. Just a few parts were needed and we were charged a very fair price for the two hours he worked. Not an easy job to replace the shut off (very old and required a pipe wrench for turn-off before). It required cutting a hole in the drywall before he could use a different shut off to complete the job. He solved the issue in the 1/2 bath and it is finally fixed after 1 1/2 years. I have used Jack Woods Plumbing several times over the years and will always go back to them. I rarely get the same repairman but each has always been very knowledgeable, careful, efficient and courteous.
