It was recommended that I get a new line for the water heater. They just wanted to sell me a new water heater so I didn't go with them. They wanted to change from gas to electric and I didn't want to do that because the water heater wasn't that old. They were friendly and prompt. I would recommend them.

They were excellent. About three weeks before the new unit was to be installed our furnace went out. He stopped everything and immediately came out to make sure we would have heat. Their prices were very reasonable and they did a great job. They were clean, courteous and answered all of our questions. They were really great overall.

I've used West Jeff Plumbing and Heating several times over the years. I've never had anything but a great experience with them. This time around Furnace wasn't running well, wasn't keeping up with the cold. I called Saturday morning (of the OSU/Michigan game no less) and they were out within half an hour. Technician was very polite and finished the service quickly and efficiently. I'll be remembering to have them out for annual maintenance next year since it's a lot cheaper than a last minute house call.

This company was fantastic to work with! Knowledgeable, kind, and honest...I couldn't ask for anything more. Their response time was outstanding and better than any other in the area. Price for the repair was fair and reasonable. I was very pleased with my experience with this company and would definitely refer them to family and friends and use them again.

When my AC went out during a heat wave, I called another company who told me I needed a new AC. I was going out of town for a week and was going to have to wait until I returned just to get an estimate. I called West Jefferson Plumbing and Heating to see what kind of timeline they had. The gentleman on the phone was able to give me a phone estimate, which worked out very well for me. He looked my address up on the auditor's website while I was on the phone, and explained what my options were. He asked if I could email him some pictures, as my furnace is located in a difficult to access closet. He emailed me a couple of different quotes, based upon different circumstances that I may want. I was able to tell him what I wanted before I left for vacation, and they were able to order the equipment and install it the day after I got home. They were very professional and I was quite pleased with the way they were able to work with me in a non-traditional way. I would definitely use them again.

On May 7, 2012 I had an upper cabinet removed from under a kitchen soffit. This cabinet was attached by long screws and adhesive and had been in place since 1993. I noticed a drop of water fall through the screw hole in the drywall. The handyman didn’t feel plumbing was his expertise so he recommended I contact a plumber. After 2 calls to other plumbers (one who didn’t go beyond the outerbelt and one couldn’t be reached), I called West Jefferson Plumbing and Heating, who had recently installed my new furnace and AC system on April 26. I wasn’t sure if they even did smaller plumbing jobs so I asked when I first called, and then explained that there was a surprise leak found after removing a cabinet. At this point I was ready to beg but I said I was a new customer, just had the furnace/AC installation and then I was given a time frame of around 2 pm. I called a second time within a few minutes after the handyman thought the leak was “black pipe” which didn’t sound good, so I spoke to a second person at WJPH and told them that if it is black pipe, it’s okay to cut the drywall in the soffit to investigate. Shortly after that I got a call back from Ivan Mast, owner of WJPH, who I had dealt with in purchasing my furnace and AC. He reassured me that they would figure out what the leak was and this helped to calm my fears before I freak out while still on the phone.
About an hour later Bob arrived from WJPH and cut a drywall square and small section of wood frame to investigate. The piece of wood was slightly damp but there were no signs of leak. It was at that time I remembered I had a neglected faucet leak in the vanity sink upstairs above this area. I had been turning that cold water valve off and on for a few months and didn’t realize there was water underneath the pedestal base. This would have been end of story next day when a new faucet was installed, but in the early a.m. hour I found another leak in the basement.
Overnight while putting towels in dryer, I noticed the framing insulation next to hot water tank was wet and I could feel a spray mist. I took photos and emailed this with a message to Ivan Mast around 1:30 a.m. Around 7:30 am he emailed a reply back and updated Bob who was to return within the hour for faucet installation. Bob found the spray of water was from a small hole in an old seam of copper pipe to hot water tank, and during the refitting of pipe, he removed the water heater rod that corroded after 5 years. He refit a new section of pipe, replacing the elbow bend which had several seams and made a cleaner connection with one piece. He took care of this repair first then installed 2 new faucets I purchased day before.
For about 3 hours labor and the cost of pipe materials, I feel the amount charged was very reasonable because I thought it was going to be higher for all the work done. This company is now my go-to source for plumbing in addition to the heating and AC system I will maintain. They are good people who have provided excellent service, and so I will continue to rely on them and recommend them to others.

I am a new customer of West Jefferson Plumbing and Heating, and have used their services for gas furnace/AC installation and for plumbing repairs (see separate review under plumbing category), from April 9 to May 8 of this year. Over a month’s time, each person I’ve communicated with or had in my home for estimate, install or repair work has made me feel comfortable, knowing they have the expertise and that essential home maintenance issues are handled by the right people.
In March I began a brief search for a heating and A/C company to replace my rusted Aqua-Therm system. I did some prior reading on the newer higher efficiency furnaces and I was also interested in an air cleaner for allergies. By searching websites of 3 major brands, I located West Jefferson Plumbing and Heating, a Lennox premier dealer. The WJPH website contains a blog with helpful information (astonished that it answered the mystery about sewer gas from an unused, dry sink trap!) On 3/21/12, I contacted the company by email to request an estimate, and set an appointment for April 9 with Ivan Mast. He looked at my old 19 yr old furnace and how much space I had for new installation. He explained the AEP rebates with the energy assessment and the effectiveness of box media air filtration. At the end of the day, I received by email an estimate with 2 options, which I followed up with a couple questions, and he emailed back promptly with answers. I had one other estimate from another company for a different brand, a higher cost system which I felt was oversold (60,000 BTUs plus electronic air cleaner for my small condo), compared to 45,000 BTUs and a more efficient box media air filter. I chose to go with West Jefferson in a 2-stage Lennox system, 96% efficiency, 13-15 SEER rated AC and the higher rated box media air filter.
Installation was done on April 26 (it was my choice to schedule later, it could have been done sooner if I chose). The 2 technicians, Josh and Ryan, did excellent work, connecting the gas line and constructing a streamlined furnace with easy access to the box media filter, weaving PVC pipe through the floor joists and creating an exterior vent through wood trim. They were great guys who worked really hard. They replaced a copper pipe that had several seams from the water heater install another company did a few years ago. Overall the installation took almost a full day. This was done with no debris left afterwards. With the new system operating, I was amazed at how much air flowed through the floor vents. To top it off, the company registered my Lennox warranty for me so that I didn’t have to go on-line and enter serial numbers. The energy assessment was performed on May 4 by Ivan Mast, during which the attic insulation was checked, the Energy Star HVAC system and newer appliances verified, which will result in a $400 AEP rebate in addition to the Lennox manufacturer $150 rebate. This company’s high praise and reputation is well deserved and I definitely recommend them.

The heat pump in the art studio was not working at all, nor was a separate heater. Andy came out and tested all the circuits, concluding that the line had been damaged with some outdoor work/digging. He came back that afternoon with an electrician, they found the break, repaired and covered it. Andy tested all the units and they were working. He even shut the windows for us before leaving (they are hard to reach and harder to close!). Not only was the repair done right, Andy was here the day after we called! We have a service agreement with West Jeff and they always live up to their promise of meeting our heating and plumbing needs asap. And, the employees are always courteous and friendly.

I have been using West Jefferson Plumbing and Heating for over 10 years and have been very happy with them. I needed to replace our half bath toilet. I wanted a toilet with a higher rim for when my elderly mother visits.

The plumber arrived on time and went straight to work. The existing toilet was over 14 years old and there was some floor damage. He repaired the damage and installed a new flange. He also replaced my water shut off valve as it was also showing it's age.

He installed the new toilet and was done in under 90 minutes.

I felt the price was good and was very happy with the repair and installation.

I have not had a bad experience with West Jefferson Plumbing and Heating. I grew up in a small town and feel I get better service from a small town company as compared to a bigger company.

I was in a panic when I contacted West Jefferson Heating and Plumbin. My daughter was scheduled to be married on June 17, and our A/C had gone out and could not be repaired. In addition, we had a 40-year-old furnace that needed replacing. My in-laws from Florida were scheduled to arrive and were planning to stay with us on June 16. An in-town firm could not repair our furnace until after the wedding at an estimated cost of $8200. I contacted Ivan Mast, owner of West Jefferson Heating and Plumbing, and he gave me an estimate of $6100 (for a more efficient furnace and a larger A/C) over the phone, said they could be there on June 15 and could complete the work in a day. In addition, they arranged an energy audit that qualified us for rebates and tax credits for a total of $1000. In other words, this company saved me over $3000, but more importantly, they got to us in a timely fashion. The technicians that came were awesome. They were punctual, worked non-stop, finished around 5 p.m., and cleaned up after themselves. All I can say is WHEW and THANKS West Jefferson Heating and Plumbing!!! Your company saved the day! I HIGHLY recommend this company. They are sure to have me as a repeat customer. Rosina

I needed to have them install a new furnace, heat pump, and hot water tank. I also had to have some work done on my toilets. I really like them, and I like to call them when I need to have work done. I'm not afraid to be in the house with them when they are doing work.

Came right out to quote, explained out options very clearly and worked with my needs to do it right with the best mix of hardware for house and budget, got us our full federal energy tax credit savings, even registered with company so we are set for the extended warranty. Very easy to work with, changed schedule several times to accomodate us. Used existing high efficiency filter and humidifer as they were in good shape which saved us dollars., fixed a couple of ducts that had gotten damaged in crawl space. Even offered to let us keep our thermostat as it was better than the one quoted and then rewired it to clean up some iffy cable in wall and reprogrammed it to work it's best. Was almost a grand less expensive than other quotes we got for basically the same unit. Technicians were careful to not leave a mess and packed out all trash and old equipment. Great service!!!

We initially called a competitor that we used previously. The competitor could not accommodate same-day service and suggested we try West Jefferson Plumbing. This was the first time that we tried them. It was a good experience. The service technician arrived within the time frame that was provided to us on the phone. Bob was courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. He had to work very hard to remove a faucet and had the tools and know-how to do it. He saved us from removing the entire sink to replace a stubborn faucet. We will use West Jefferson Plumbing and Heating again and recommend them to others. Thankfully, we can now have Thanksgiving dinner!

I have used West Jefferson Plumbing and Heating for numerous services at my business and home. They have fixed A/C problems (Including installation of additional vents to increase air flow), Water Softener problems, and Hot water heater installation. During the heat of the summer they came to my business the same day as our A/C stopped working and on a different day they came to my house the same day as my A/C stopped working. They are always very responsive and professional.

I only use them for heating work at this time. I have had good experiences with them. They should have made the extra effort to plumb the line on the inside instead of outside. The plumber that came out when I called to say my bathroom was not working was upset that they charged me a service charge of $40.00. I will not be using them for plumbing in the future because of the situation I experienced.
