I took my cat to this vet to be seen because she was having trouble urinating. She was 4 years old, and we had her for less than one year. When we adopted her, we were told she was a girl, and we had no reason to believe otherwise. When I took my cat to this vet, they said she was fine, gave her some antibiotics and sent us on our way. A few days later she was still in immense pain. I took her back and they gave her more antibiotics to take home. When that didn't work, they suggested I buy a calming collar. A couple days later I had to rush her to an emergency vet, where I found out she was actually a boy, and his ***** was blocked. Had this vet done their due diligence and properly examined my cat, they would have known HE had a ***** and it was blocked. Instead, he had to be put down because his condition was far too bad. My brother took his dog to them yesterday because she had a blockage in her intestines. They told him to withhold food and let it pass. His dog is now dead because they refused to take action. Do NOT take your pet to Affordable Pet Care in Wakeman, Ohio.

For this visit and for past visits, the staff (with the exception of one staff person that wasn't as friendly this past time) has always been adequately friendly and very professional.
They provide great service and I feel properly assess my dogs' situation, whatever it may be at the time. I have been here 3 - 4 times. The first was with my eldest dog (7 yrs. at the time) for a pre-visit/quote for a combo hernia and spay surgery. The quote was extremely reasonable and was at least $1,000 - $1,500 cheaper than another vet we had taken her to previously.
They have same day appointments almost every day, so you can get your pet in asap.

Facts of my experience with Vermillion River Regional
Veterinary Center nka Affordable Pet Care:
3/17/09 took 5 year old male Chow, Bumbles, to clinic for neuter and dew claw removal, rear dew claws. Took him home same day he was slow moving but normal for just having surgery,
on 3/19/09 he seemed lathargy, vomiting and dewclaw site swollen; took back to VRR Vet Center he was given Cerenia, antibiotic injection and cortisone injection and Simplicef 200 mg and Meloxicam and Tramadol to be taken at home.
From 3/19 to 3/23, initially no vomiting but continued larthargy, not eating well but drinking and dewclaw site required resuturing
with staple sutures; another injection of Cerenia given plus other injections given again; refilled Simplicef/Meloxicam/Tramadol. Blood work which include a CBC + Serum Profile Performed at in house lab results were unremarkable. Sent home;
Once home remained depressed, abdomen painful, anorexic, reluctant to move, and despite still drinking a lot of water there has been no urination or defications; vomiting continued.
3/24 called VRR Vet Center to report he was no better still vomiting, not eating, still drinking but no urination or stools, abdomen more painful, reluctant to move. Was advised to give him 48 hours to improve.
Slept by him on floor awoke to him moaning, refused to even raise his head, breathing was labored.
Called Emergency Clinic in Lorain; He died enroute, with daughters giving him mouth to mouth.
Bumbles was given a joint supplement (Next Level Equine, Liquid Joint Supplement, which is a great supplement) at home on a daily basis only daily supplement he was ever given at home before his Neuter.
Vermillion River Regional Veterinary Center nka Affordable Pet Care through a lawsuit file with the Norwalk Municipal Court and a grievance filed with the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board were dismissed without a finding of negligence, malpractice or liability in the death of Bumbles.

We were greeted immediately by the receptionist in a friendly, professional manner. We waited less than five minutes to be seen by a technician. It was very evident the tech enjoyed working with animals. Dr. Preiss came in very soon after the initial tech exam. He explained the teeth cleaning procedure thoroughly. While examining my dog's mouth Dr. Preiss was able to show me how bad my dog's teeth were and explained why so man would probably have to be removed. The procedure was completed within just a couple of hours. I was given complete and easy to follow going home instructions. I received a follow-up call the next day.

The veterinary doctor and the facility are an A. We spent over $200 on that visit.

They have helped maintain her health. It is a nice big, attractive waiting room. They are a professional staff and the prices are comparable to other vets. They are very nice to my dog and I will continue to see them.
