Highly knowledgeable crew, efficient. Very professional for the most part. These guys don't stand around leaning on shovels. They get right to it. Explained the system as they were going and answered questions we had. Install went easily and on time. When they left the interior of the house was cleaned up nicely for the amount of dust and debris being handled, The only delay we had was a weather delay because the crew did not attempt to come because of the snow. A phone call stating this was received which was appreciated. Overall very happy with the qualitu of the waterproofing. Negatives would be the exterior grading seemed to be haphazard. Fill dirt from exterior excavation appeared to be thrown against the base of the house without much thought to appearance or actual grade. A yard sculpture was broken (probably due to the frozen ground) when they attempted to move it and no mention was made until we questioned it. Apologized, said he forgot to mention it. Also, we have never recieved a call from the contractor as a follow up to see if we were satisfied, had any issues, etc. A little disappointed in that. Never recieved information on sump pump warranty or future warranty payment information.

Salesman was kind of pushy and really complained when my wife and I wanted time alone to review the contract without him in the house and then drop off a signed contract to their facility the next day. He really did not like that idea. However, once we decided to have them do the job, the workers showed up prompt based on our first scheduling. They worked very hard for 1 week and completed 3/4 of the job.
They planned on finishing in one week but couldn't, so had to come back. They apparently had another job they had to do the following week and so came back 5 days later, without really let us know the plan. They did come back and finish the job, however, the main job foreman was not able to be there on the last day. They finished on a friday in a hurry with a little less focus on quality than the previous 7 or 8 days. They also requested payment without providing and paperwork whatsoever: No receipt, no job description no warranty or guarantee papers.
There was a place on the basement floor where they filled concrete that was not smooth and level. When some pipes nearby sweat the water dripped and flowed into this spot and created a puddle. There were also three places that needed to be filled with some sort of filler as per our original salesman. They did not do these things. We called them to have them come fix this and it took a couple weeks to get a response and then a few more phone calls a a few more weeks and the threat of getting a lawyer involved and finally after a big rain and 3 wet walls we called and were very loud about getting someone out to fix our issues. They came out a few times each time unprepared to fix all problems. They tried to convince my wife to cover the issues and not really fix the issue. However, in the end in November (4 months after the initial job) they did get all the issues fixed and we do have a dry basement. It did take another phone call to get some paperwork regarding a guarantee and receipt of full payment.
In the end they did know what they were doing and did get the walls fixed. However, the professionalism of the salesman, inside staff, and owner to make the customer happy was very poor. There was plenty of time for multiple people to call us before they got the job, but it seemed as if everyone was too busy to help once the main part of the job was done. I did withhold full payment, but guess I should have withheld more until all the job was done.

They dug an eight foot trench with shovels to accomplish the job. They completed the work satisfactorily.

"Thank you for contracting with our company. We appreciate your business I understand your rating of a C was because the yard had some marks in it from our wheel barrels.Unfortunately in November the weather can be unpredictable and soil conditions get soft as we head into our winter season. The excavation method can get real messy escpecially when heavy equipment is used .Thankfully we did this the old fashion way by hand. Its extremely difficult labor digging a hole eight feet deep and following the length of the foundation when you load shovels full of clay into a wheel barrel it can weigh up to several hundred pounds then when you push it it can leave marks in the yard no matter how careful you try to be.Also clean up can be difficult raking out the soil. The soil also needs to be humped up next to the foundation for settlement reasons.Anyone who reads this review please keep in mind several things about this solution 1.The yard my have marks in it due to the labor involved if you use heavy equipment or if its done by hand and 2.The yard may have some debri in it a few clumps of dirt here and there its hard to smooth out frozen dirt during the winter months.THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE GREAT REVIEWS !!!!"

I was pleasantly surprised that they had a large enough crew that they got the job done in 2 days. I was expecting it to take about a week. They worked very well together and seemed to really know what they were doing.

I have mixed feelings on it. The salesman that contacted me was very high pressured. He made some deals with me of all these things that he was going to do and then when it came time to actually do the work, I had to be pretty persuasive to remind him what the deals were. He finally relented and did everything at the same prices that he indicated that he would do it for. It was a bit of a hassle getting him to agree to it again but he finally did. Second thing, the actual work that he did was very good, however, he left our garage and basement in an absolute mess. There were dust, dirt and debris everywhere. That was just totally unacceptable, from that standpoint, the way that he left our place. In fact, I wrote an evaluation and complaint to the company and I have never heard from them again. In the end, I would never use them again. Their price was fine and competitive to other companies doing the same kind of work. The quality of the work that he did was good but if you include the way that he left our place, it was not good. His punctuality was very good. He came exactly when he said that he was going to.

The salesman was very professional . He told of the history of the company, examples of their work, and was not pushy or
aggressive After several estimates, USA offered the most for the best price. I would highly recommend their services.
USA was on time for the appointment and the crew identified themselves, were very courteous, professional, and willing to explain what they were doing and why. They explained the issues that were created by a former contractor and took extra time to make sure they were corrected properly. The area was cleaned before they left.

Two crews arrived at 8:40am. Began work immediately, having to move a great deal of "stuff" away from the walls. They worked inside and outside at the same time and as far as I could tell, never stopped until 4:00pm when they said they were finished.

11-30-12: In response to USA Waterproofing ? Does the basement need work?.yes? is it the cause of the shower leak?.ABSOLUTELTY NOT!!! I have had a significant amount of remodeling done on this house?including a new kitchen, dining room, bedroom and an additional bathroom (all complete tear out and remodeling?including new electrical, plumbing, etc). Funny - there is no outward sign of damage due to the foundation settling in any of these other areas of the house. There are no visible cracks in any walls, ceilings, no leaks in the other bathroom that was remodeled or the kitchen. Funny - the only trouble area is from tile installed by USA Waterproofing - that was done incorrectly, leading to a significant shower leak, evident by visible water dripping from the ceiling directly BELOW the shower. The fault is with the company. It was installed incorrectly. The company?s excuse of blaming the foundation and me for picking out the wrong tile is directed at the wrong people. The blame lies with USA Waterproofing. Your company (workers performing the work) and the tile company said the tile was ok for the shower. If your workers didn?t know how to grout/seal the tile, then the ?experts? should have spoken up or at the very least done your homework and figured it out. Since then, we have actually seen that exact mosaic tile grouted at Home Depot.
As for the ceiling below. Yes there was water in the light fixture prior; however there was NO OUTWARD visible damage. We were told (by USA Waterproofing) it was due to faulty plumbing and that it would be removed?.either you didn?t remove it or the new damage visible throughout the ceiling (drywall cracks, dripping water, water stains, etc) was from a NEW leak from the shower (if you did removed the old plumbing). Either way, the company is at fault ? either you didn?t replace the old plumbing or if you did, then that reinforces a new leak from YOUR installation. We asked you to replace the drywall that was damaged from the last year and half due to the leak. The company still has not done it. The ?quick fix? that was done is insufficient.
The warranty issue. What company would not come out and fix the issue if a leak had already been established WITHIN 2 MONTHS of it being used. I contacted members of the company immediately when it first occurred and several times after. There isn?t any mention of warranty on any of the paperwork I have, and I was told that the work was not even under warranty. For USA Waterproofing NOW to state that there was a warranty and a time frame for it to be fixed is questionable. I would expect that word of mouth/referral goes a long way in establishing your cliental. The leak aside, the finish work throughout the bathroom is subpar?.evidence of screws in the dry that aren?t completely covered, poor sanding and finishing around fixtures and on other areas of the drywall; among others.
This company has been nothing short of rude, unprofessional and disrespectful. It took weeks to get them to come out to the house to look at the issue. Then it took another 7-8 weeks to get them to come back to repair the shower. That whole time, we got the run around, we had to repeatedly call and were rarely called back. It seemed we only got a call back and them to come out to the house when we finally threatened to contact the BBB and Attorney General. When the owner of the company chastises the owners of the house on the phone that tells you right there the integrity of the company. The whole process has been nothing short of horrible and they are lucky we haven?t contacted the BBB and/or the Attorney General or taken the matter to court. All are still viable options which we are aggressively pursuing.

We had our master bathroom completely gutted and redone. Our bathroom was originally finished at the end of 2010. It did not get used until the summer of 2011, about 6 months later. 2 months after its first use it started leaking, causing damage to the ceiling on the first floor below. We could even hear dripping inside the walls on the first floor. The damage from the leak was obvious. We reached out to Jerry who did the installation. He came and sprayed the tile with a sealant but the leaking continued. We reached out to Jim and John who came out to look at the problem after several phone calls were placed. When they gained access to see behind the shower there was an obvious leak from the shower pan. The water was dripping from the corner of the pan and running freely to the ceiling below. Because of this leak the water damage to the ceiling below the shower had caused significant damage, as well as leaking into the closet on the first floor. The leak in the pan was caulked but they advised that it was because of the tile used in the shower. We had asked for their advice upon installation if the tile was acceptable for a shower. They called the shop where we purchased the tile and both said it was fine to use. We looked to them for advice before the tile was ever installed, and took their direction as the proper way to proceed since this is what they do for a living on a daily basis. The tile was never grouted after installation. Now it is September 2012, and we continue to have a serious problem. Water clearly leaks from the ceiling below at a rapid pace when the shower is used. The water has traveled across the ceiling to the wall and has caused significant damage and looks horrible. We have pictures and video of the damage. We asked for them to do the repairs at no charge, and we would purchase the new tile and other materials on our own. They wanted to charge us $385 for the visit to fix it. We had to place calls for weeks to get this resolved. We called Jim, John and Steve the owner, and were always getting the run around. We asked to have the owner call us. The owner only returned my call when I mentioned contacting the attorney general. When Steve did call, he told me he was the general manager, not the owner ? which is not true - and he was extremely rude to me, had an attitude and was practically yelling at me. He told me ?I must know everything? since I had done some research and asked for advice from others in the industry. After two more weeks passed Jim and John and another worker did come out to fix the shower, at no cost. We stipulated when we spoke with them on many occasions that they shower was to be retiled and the ceiling below was to be fixed. They did a decent job fixing the shower tile, although they did not go all the way up to make the tile even across the top. Their attempt to fix the ceiling consisted of scraping off the damaged portions of the ceiling and putting up patches of plaster to repair it. It immediately bubbled like it did before. They weren?t even going to fix it because they said it was not related to the leakage from the shower. I showed them the water path from the point that it was leaking directly from the shower and they said it was not from the shower. It is unacceptable, and the ceiling looks horrible. We will have to pay someone to come and put up new dry wall. We feel we were treated with disregard and disrespect by Steve, and the work that was done was minimal. We would not recommend this company to anyone, as our experience has been extremely negative.

"The customer states they had not used their brand new master bath until 8 months after it was finished ?? It doesn't make sense--we always responded to this customer about this problem and even fixed the shower at no cost-even after the warranty period expired! The tile they wanted installed originally, was a groutless tile. as for the ceiling below--it was water damaged before we did our work there! The ceiling light was full of water when we arrived from the old plumbing. We also pointed out to the homeowner (not the girlfriend) that the basement foundation wall which is the same wall this bathroom is on is caving in along with his front porch! We gave the homeowner an estimate to rebuild the wall two years ago. He has not done anything with it and obviously it is causing other problems with the home not only the bathroom! His response to me upon pointing these things out was "I never should have bought this damn house!!!"

I called them for the estimate. They came out to my home. I thought they had a good reputation. They had recommendations from customers, who were prominent. I did not get any other estimates. I felt their price is fair. They came right out. I did not use them as I had the city engineer look at the foundation, who told me that I did not have to get the work done. I would get another estimate from them if required.

These guys were pros from the start. My basement is by far the best part of our house now and before USA Basement Finishing started, we were ashamed to have anyone see it. Their craftmanship was top notch. They encouraged feedback every step of the process. Very good communication throughout. The final cost of the job was what they quoted despite a few "upgrades" made during the course of the job. The guys were very curteous. I highly recommend USA Basement Finishing. You can trust these guys to give you what you pay for...and more!

They did the job with a crew of about 6 men working for a full work week with very few breaks. I was impressed with how difficult and physically demanding this type of work is. They worked only until about 3pm due to the physical nature of the work and the fact that they had about 45 minutes drive time to my house from their shop in Twinsburg. They were very punctual and professional and very well managed by the foreman on the job. Once I saw how difficult this work is, I understood better why it is quite expensive to have a basement waterproofed.

I contacted several contracting companies. Though not the least expensive, USA seemed to specialized in basements and had the best advice and presentation for the basement. After having John out to do a quote, we negotated and eventually came to an agreement. USA, being a waterproofing company too, uses polystyrene insulation, metal studs and aquaboard for drywall to make sure if you ever get water in your basement that your somewhat well protected. I purchased the fixtures for the bathroom myself and had USA pick them up from home depot to install them. I contracted with USA to build a great room, bathroom, and office in my basement along with electrical, hvac, plumbing, insulation, drop ceiling (I don't like drywall ceilings) and painting necessary for a completely turn-key installation (except carpet). The plumbing involved cutting the concrete floor to connect in the floor drain for the shower. Throughout the process John was very accessable and helpful. Though I had put together a floorplan before the start, little details crept up that I hadn't noticed in my basement on some of the mechanicals that kept things from going where I initally planned for them. It was easy to work with John to adust them. John also identified other areas of my plan that were not quite as smart as I originally thought. Since they speciallize in basements, John was able to bring a good perspective on what works and what doesn't work. He also had a lot of experience with products (like low profile can lights) to maximize my ceiling height. Everything went very well until their electrical subcontractor got involved. I'm pretty sure the electrical was the only thing they sub out. He seemed to take a few shortcuts, like putting lights and outlets on the same circuit and not wiring separate switches for my bathroom exhaust fan's light and fan. A few months after the project was done, an inspector noticed that he had double-lugged the neutrals with the grounds in the breaker panel (a general no-no and also a code violation, though something I missed during my inspection). By this point, getting in touch with John to coordinate with his new electrical sub to fix the problem required a bit of hounding on my part. Though John was willing to take care of the problem without argument, it was clear that he was busy with other customers projects and it took a lot of phone calls to get it done. USA usually doesn't do painting from what I gathered from John, but the completed paint job looked nice. The seams in the drywall were invisible to the casual on-looker, but if you looked down the drywall on profile, you could readily see the seams. Hardly perfect, but acceptable to me. John also coordinated his work around the carpet/tile company I had come in to finish that work. I had small children in the house, and John's team did a good job of keeping the dust down, working around the kids, and not making a mess of my house. This could have practically been a fire-and-forget job, meaning John and his team pretty much took care of everything. Communication was good, everything was on time, quality was above average. There were a few minor issues along the way that I mentioned above, but for a job this size, in my experience, things went a lot better than I would typically expect for a job this size. This job took only two weeks and at the end I had a very nice basement that my family and I loved. I'd certainly recommend USA.

Job started on time, did a good job of keeping the dust contained as best s posiible. Seemed to be going ok until city inspector required crew to remove the drainage pipe they had installed and replace it with the proper pipe. Cleanup could have been a bit better. The real issue with this job is that as of this writing, there still is moisture on the corner where the sump was installed. We have called numerous times. The crew came out one time, did some digging outside and a poor job of back fill. This has not fixed the sump corner where there is evidence of efflorescencs & moisture. Many more calls to the company, and asking to speak to the owner have been denied and neglected to respond. These are the very issues the salesman told us would be resolved when the job was quoted initially.

We had our basement waterproofed in September 2004, and since then, it has leaked about 5 times. We had a brand new carpet installed in the basement. The carpet has been there for about 2 or 3 years now and it is basically ruined - it was saturated for several days before they came out. We were supposed to have my son?s birthday party downstairs and it was so wet that we couldn?t have it there. They came two days after I called them, and when they came out, I told them that I wanted my carpet replaced. They said that they would cut a portion of my carpet out and have it replaced. That wouldn?t have matched with the rest of my carpet. I called the owner of the company everyday for about 5 or 6 months, and he refused to call me back. They had someone come out and clean the portion of our carpet for no cost but our carpet is still ruined and there is a big stain on it. They were rated fairly well on Angie?s List, and that?s why we chose to use them. I would have said that the price was fair if their product had actually worked. We were not happy with their work or their responsiveness. I wouldn?t use them in the future and would not recommend them to anybody.
Response from Usawaterproofing
"we performed the work for a member in 2004 and always returned her calls and serviced any issues she had--not sure who he is?--the carpet in question was wet near the stairway, we had the area cleaned for her but she would not be satisfied unless she received a whole new carpet for the entire floor. We try to satisfy every customer, but sometimes its not possible. thank you."

This was a blessing to have the opportunity to work with this company. The crew consisted of two and their work ethic, courtesy, punctuality, and overall performance was as best as it could get. Each and every day they worked non stop from morning to late afternoon. They made sure we were kept informed of everything that was happening. They cleaned up every day at the end of their shift. I am semi handicapped. I use a cane/walker to get around. Rick stoppe what he was doing just to help me load and unload my car when I went to the laundromat. He offered to help me with anything I needed. I have worked with a few contractors before and USA Waterproofing & Foundation Services are the best. If you need any endorsement on radio or TV I would be happy to help. I would hire them in an instant and will recommend them to everyone.

Aside from unavoidable noise(jackhammering for 2 days 8 hours a day), it was very smooth. The 2 men who did it were very professional and courteous, shut off lights, closed/locked doors, CLEANED everything when they were done(MUCH to our surprise), discussed what they were doing at length when either me or my husband asked. Even put drop cloths over all our moldy, ruined junk in the basement! The 'desk' guy who came out originally told us it would take 2 days, and it took 5. The 'workers' said those guys don't have a clue when it comes to how long things take(apparently), so I ended up taking more time off work than I had originally thought, though I don't think I really needed to be home for them to work. It's an old house, and I wanted to be here just in case. Overall, it was great, and we'd do it again in a heartbeat. We didn't get any estimates from anywhere else, we chose USA because a good friend recomended them, so I don't know how good the price is, but the work is outstanding.

The salesperson was a salesperson. The crew that came was OUTSTANDING! Led by Chris, they were on time every day, neat, careful and very considerate. They cleaned up after themselves. They were great! If you can ask for a crew, I'd ask for the one that came to my house. Everything was fine until I realized that when my laundry tub was put back it must not have been done 100% correctly. It took me a while to realize it, but water was coming from somewhere. I called 3 times to ask that someone come out to check. By the time I called, the company had their money and I guess did not feel they had to call back. They never did. Fortunately by watching as my laundry was going, I figured out the problem and resolved it myself. I sure hope I never have an actual problem with the 'lifetime' warranty.

They did a great job. They arrived on time and did a good job at finishing in a timely matter. The price that they gave me was a little high but for the most part it was reasonable.

We always had a gross, musty smell in our panelled basement and when mold appeared at the bottom of wall, we pulled off the paneling and frankly, it was disgusting. I called five different waterproofers, asking them for an estimate; proof of insurance, bonding, licenses and workers comp; and references of people in my zip code. One of their competitors' salesmen even recommended them, saying "if you don't use us, you should hire USA." Most of them came missing one of more elements of my request, but Wayne of USA had everything on hand to show me. He made SO many promises I wasn't sure they could ever fill them. When I itemized the promises, had the salesman sign it and faxed it to the foreman, they were absolutely fine with it. When the crew came to work, they each introduced themselves by name and gave my dog a chance to get used to them. During their four-day work assignment at my house, I never heard cussing, arguing or anything remotely questionable. They handled the permits and inspections, and everything in between (including cleaning up and sweeping the basement before they left!) The best part is that they worked incredibly hard and their work was meticulously done. They welcomed my questions (I couldn't resist) and amazingly, not only fulfilled all the original promises-they exceeded them. They sealed all the tiniest of cracks, trenched and put drainage lines in the basement, brought top soil in to raise the level around the entire house, sealed the patio, porch and driveway, and did a dozen other things to make sure the basement stays dry. The bottom line is this: These guys can work at my house ANY TIME! I was so pleased I brought them all cider and doughnuts, and served them coffee and cookies. I am seldom impressed-but with USA Waterproofing, I was!

Really excellent in all regards. Salesman was very patient and informative. I had 5 different companies that do foundation work & waterproofing come out and talk to me, and this guy was definitely the best in terms of teaching me about foundation mechanics, what was causing our issues, and being creative about different solutions that were really tailored to my needs instead of just telling me I had to dig out the whole foundation. 2) office staff - responsive, friendly, very service-oriented. They double-checked on everything as well. 3) work crew - professional, courteous, informative, efficient. Told me everything they were doing along the way, kept everything clean (hard to do when you're jackhammering cement!). Also very nice in talking to my mother who is elderly (it's her home) and very understanding about her situation. And a good example of their overall customer service orientation - there was a small misunderstanding about whether installing a new electrical outlet for the sump pump was included. I had been told it was included but it hadn't been noted on the contract. The workman said he'd check with his supervisor. I got a call 1/2 hour later asking if the electrician could come by & do the work that same afternoon - which he did. I can understand how the misunderstanding could arise there are a lot of elements to this contract but, what I think really speaks to this company's approach is how they solved it didn't quibble, and resolved it very fast & got the work done. I had a really excellent experience with this company, on all fronts.

When they were finished they did not do a great job of cleaning up. I had to call to have someone come back and put back my appliances. I thought that it was part of the contract.
