Description of Work: Had carpet replaced in 3 bedrooms and a hallway, and a huge family room. Labor was only $37, so pretty much just had to pay for the carpet. They were very backed up, which is the reason for the lower score I gave, other than that, they were fantastic! Would definitely recommend!

The flooring estimate was below what we received at other places. The installers were very professional and on-time. We were incredibly happy with our purchase and final product.

First off, I didn’t realize Wayne (the roofer) and his crew were subcontracted by Home Depot. I was under the impression we were going to have actual Home Depot employees working on our roof. We had problems with Wayne right from the start. We were given a day and time our job was to be started. We arranged for someone to watch our son, not knowing how a one year old would react to the constant banging. They were to start first thing in the morning, so we waited and waited, but no roofers. After about four hours, I called Home Depot to find out what was going on. They called Wayne, he called me. Said he was really busy on a job and wasn’t going to make it. OK, that happens, but why no call? We are waiting. He was supposed to be at our house at 8:00 am. If he had another job to finish, he would have known that the night before, or could have at the very least, called in the morning. Wayne and his crew finished up while our family was gone. We came home to find that at the end of the job, our siding was covered in black asphalt marks from the old shingles hitting it as they were thrown off the roof. Not just a few marks, they were all over the house. I immediately talked to some neighbors who I knew had new roofs installed in the last year of two. None of them had a single mark on their siding. Next, I called our salesman. I wanted someone representing Home Depot to come see what a mess Wayne and his crew had made of our house. Plus he had said to call him if we had any problems, so I did. I got a voicemail. Left a message about our problem, and he never returned my call. Wayne was coming to collect the final payment the next day. To be honest, I didn’t want to pay him until Home Depot gave us some satisfaction for the problems we had. I talked to him about the marks on the siding and he went on and on about how that always happens. You can’t get around it and it doesn’t matter who does the roof, the siding will always be nicked up. Even when I told him our neighbors didn’t have any such problems, he would smile and insist that it always happens and then he did do a very poor job at cleaning the marks off (kind of). I scrubbed the siding with a tar remover myself after he left. That was the start and finish. In between there were more problems I am not even going to mention. But suffice it to say, Wayne was nothing but problems and excuses. He had endless excuses for everything. And I did end up paying him. I paid him that day because I didn’t want to deal with him anymore. I just wanted to be completely done with him. If I had known who Home Depot was sending to our home, I would have never used them. I could have hired a third rate roofing crew myself for much less money than what we paid Home Depot. So now here we are two years later. We just had a couple days of rain and the water is coming in our son’s room much worse than ever. The water damage on the ceiling is five times worse than it was before we had this problem “fixed”. And now the wall is damaged also. Water is running down from the ceiling in between the drywall and paint creating a large water bubble. It runs from the ceiling down the wall maybe five feet or so. The paint is damaged, the drywall is damaged by water that is just continually held on it. I thought about slicing it open to let the water out, but if it rains again we will end up with water damage on the floor also. The way it looks right now, I don’t even know if it can be patched and repaired in such a way that it would blend in and not show that there had been a problem. So we called Home Depot to get this problem taken care of. Called at 6pm, they leave the offices at 5pm. But you can leave a message and they will get back to you. I left a detailed message and stressed that there is water coming in the house. If it rains again we will have more water damage. Home Depot never called. So my wife spent a good part of the next day calling and calling. Got a customer service rep who couldn’t do anything. She gave the phone number for our field inspector but only got a voice mail. So she left a message and we are again waiting, waiting, waiting. She called the Home Depot offices again to let them know we are not being contacted by anyone. But nothing they can do. They won’t contact this field inspector for us. We just have to wait until he decides to call us back. There is rain in the weather forecast in two days. We need to get this fixed before we have more damage. Maybe they will call tomorrow. As it turns out, we paid Home Depot thousands of dollars to really mess up our home.
Description of Work: In June of 2009 my wife and I were looking to have a new roof put on the house. Overall, our old one wasn't too bad. It would have lasted several more years. But we had noticed a small leak near the chimney. There was a little discoloration in a corner of the ceiling of our son's room and we wanted to get the leak sealed up before any real damage was done. So for peace of mind, we decided to have the entire roof replaced right away. So how do you know who is a good roofer? Should have used Angie's List but we didn't. We decided to go with Home Depot because it is obviously a well know company and we thought we would get high quality service from them. So we had a salesman come to the house. I did specifically tell him about the small leak that needed to be sealed up and said that is a big part of why we were having the roof done at that time. We had a new one year old son and couldn't have him in a bedroom with a leaking roof. The salesman assured us of the quality of the roofers and that we would have no more water problems. So we signed the paperwork.
