Thom was very responsive and professional. I had a persistent water leak in my kitchen ceiling for 3 years. In my efforts to determine the source of the leak and stop it, I'd spent thousands of dollars and hired several roofers and contractors.  Many repairs were made, but the leak persisted, Finally, I spoke to another roofer who said the problem could be porous brick or cracked mortar. He suggested I hire a masonry repairman. I found Thom Hartman on Angie's List. He had great reviews for service and reasonable pricing. All proved true. Thom quoted a very reasonable price to apply water repellant to the brick in the trouble area. He inspected the mortar at that corner of the house, and found a few places that needed repaired (including one spot I tried to DIY -- which he justifiably poked a little fun at me for). During his inspection, Thom actually identified the spot that I believed to be the source of the leak. Finally! He didn't charge me anything extra to repair the mortar in this area and I have not had a problem with water leaking since. After spending thousands of dollars, Thom fixed my problem with just a few hundred dollars of work. I couldn't be happier. I plan to hire him for another project involving leveling out the brick pavers on my back patio.

My Realtor reported that the work looked very good and she was pleased to meet Thom so that she could refer him to other property owners. 

 When we walked around the property for the quote, I was convinced that Thom really knew his profession and would take care in completing the work properly.  My Realtor's report validated my impression.

It is a difficult problem/job to describe over the phone, but Thom was quick to respond to my request for quote and came out to see the job within an hour or two of our first phone conversation.  He gave an estimate within a day, and he completed the work within a week.  He was prompt, courteous, and professional, and the work he did looks great!  Would recommend and hire again.

Upon his prompt arrival, Mr. Hartman took the time to examine the entire exterior of our house to make sure we didn't have any issues that I didn't see.  Once he sited the problem areas, he explained to me everything that needed to be addressed, without overkill.  He noted all loose and/or cracked mortar as well as cracked or deteriorating brick.
He was exceptionally careful in matching the brick that he needed to replaced, not an easy task given our home is over 60 years old.  He also did a terrific job on the mortar - taking his time to match (as close as possible) to the old mortar color.  His workmanship was top notch and very neat.  In addition he cleaned up the job site beautifully.   
I take pride in our home and was very pleased to find someone to do such high quality work on a highly visible area of our house.  I also found Mr. Harman to be very pleasant - a quality person all around.  He even stopped by a few days after the job to present us with homemade cookies as a thank you for the work.  In this day and age, it's refreshing to find someone who's grateful to be hired. 
Should you need a mason, Mr. Harman is an excellent choice. 

It went very well, have an older home with front steps which are literally crumbling.  Provided offer suggestions and what he considered the best alternative for my budget.  Provider gave me a reasonable quote and I had every intention of having the work performed.  Unfortunately an unplanned expense developed force me to use a significant portion of the budget.  Even though the work was not started I would recommend this provider.  Rest assured once I restore the funding I have every intention of complete the project using this provider.

This was a small but essential job, resetting concrete porch stairs that had become seriously out of level, so much so that they had become unusable.  Thom and a coworker made them sturdy and functional again.  I should have called him sooner, but the price was very reasonable for the work and time involved.  He's pleasant, prompt, professional, and clearly an expert in his area.  Highly recommended.

omething needed attention to please call him and he would attend yto it.It went excellently. Thom was very meticulous about the job ensuring that he repaired anything that needed it. The pavers all had to be removed, the base leveled, and the pavers re-installed. He leveled the base using sandstone so it would "harden" from moisture and reduce erosion in the future. He also needed to repair a couple of bricks holding up our front porch as well as do some tuck pointing to repair some bad mortar joints. He was here for about 3 or 4 hours and worked steadily at the project. Before leaving he asked that we check everything out and asked us to call if anything needed attention.

It went very well.  He was very professional, and he came and looked at the site to give me the estimate.  He knows a great deal about brick and stone, and he described in detail the steps that should be taken to restore and maintain our very old brick patio.  
He even guaranteed his work.  I plan to have him back for any and all brick and stone work in the future.

The provider was punctual, professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. He did the work in a timely manner. He cleaned up nicely and the work looked like new.

I was very impressed by this company. Mr. Hartman gave me an honest opinion and recommended what he thought  was best for our property and our company.

Was very professorial, showed up on time for the quote and work. I live in a historic home and I wanted to use materials that I specified.  He was very accommodating and did a great job.  I will use him in the future for all my tuck pointing needs.

He came to the house and inspected the work to be done.  He indicated the damage was not enough to warrant brick repair and to keep a watch on the spot and call when more damage is noticed.  Very professional and I appreciated the honesty.

He's wonderful. I thought the price was fair.

Thom was able to "see" what we wanted - even given the differing opinions of my better half and me - and make suggestions on how to improve the project.  We had originally purchased approx 1/2 the bricks but discovered the time and know how were not what they needed to be - so selected Thom to construct the wall for us.  Once we had the quote, we went to purchase the needed bricks, and discovered they were no longer avail in the color previously purchased - got a complimentary color - and even though this would mean more work for Thom, he used the 2 colors to produce the wall - with a pattern - without increase in cost.  The work was done quickly with a daily phone call to be sure we both were on the same page - and completed in less than a week.  The gentleman he used to complete the bobcat work was also very professional and went above and beyond in clearing the area and spreading the excavated stone out for us, widing part of our driveway for us! I can hardly wait to get a quote from Thom on the next project - completing a paver walkway at our front door.
Additionally - Thom was very accomodating of my kids (2 labradork retrievers) who had to nose in on all aspects of the project. He
even stopped by the weekend after the work was completed to make sure we were still happy and to see how we were planting the resulting flower beds!

Thom and I talked several times before starting, so that we were in complete agreement as to the work to be done.   He provided suggestions as to the stone and type of wall.  He was very professional .  Beyond that, his work is exceptional.  It was obvious to me that Thom enjoys his work and takes pride in it.  He did the work in March which was a pretty rough month; weather-wise, yet he showed to work  in  some fairly lousy conditions.  I had 2 deliveries of materials.  Both times Thom was at my home to monitor the deliveries.  That was an unexpected big plus for me.  I'd use Thom again in a heartbeat.
I am so grateful for Angie's list.  Last year I couldn't find anyone to even come and look at my backyard.
