Communication is so important in establishing an excellent working relationship between a company and a client. Tim Newman, the owner, communicated honestly and with transparency, giving me a secure feeling that I was dealing with an owner and his team of employees who would provide an exceptional experience from beginning to end. Tim was responsive to my request for an estimate, and he stayed in close communication from the beginning of the job to the final check by Aaron, the job supervisor, and his own final call to check if all went well. Tim and Aaron answered all my questions with professional customer/client respect and clarity. The team arrived promptly both days they worked on my home. Their ability to work steadily, efficiently, and quietly showed they were in communication with each other, each person knowing what to do in a team environment. After both days' work was finished, all materials were cleaned up, including tarps that were used to protect the landscaping. Aaron gave me his contact information so I could call during the day if I had concerns or questions, but he also personally checked in with me throughout the day. The Newman Roofing team did not disappoint me in any way, providing me with the knowledge of a worthwhile investment in the home I love.
Description of Work: The Newman Roofing team removed from my 43-year-old home two layers of shingles along with rotted plywood underneath both layers. They installed new plywood and a new shingle roofing system. They cleaned up and removed all roofing debris.

I can not evaluate the quality of the repair directly because it is neither within my sight, nor my expertise to do so. I believe the problem occurred due to extremely heavy snows and cold weather last winter. I have to hope that we do not experience such severe conditions again, and, if we do, that this simple repair will mitigate the problem. Note that this was a bit complex because the cause of this type of leak can not be precisely determined, particularly since my roof is probably in the last third of its expected life. I received similar evaluations and estimates from four other companies, so I feel that I had as good a diagnosis as would be possible, and that I had been well "educated" and could make an informed choice as to the appropriate repair. Newman Roofing was very professional and responsive throughout the entire process. Aaron, the tech, was punctual and seemed very knowledgeable and effective. He visited once for the evaluation and to give me an estimate, then returned to do the work a week later. He left an invoice at the time of service, and I called their office a few days later to pay by credit card.
Description of Work: Diagnosed cause of a leak that had discolored an interior ceiling, and evaluated my entire roof. Recommended and executed a simple solution by "clipping the corners" of the shingles lining a metal valley. Importantly, the diagnosis seemed very reasonable and believable, and thereby saved me the huge cost of a more major repair or even full roof replacement.

Took pictures while on roof and showed me pictures. We have a few more years on the current roof. They probably could have talked us into a new roof within the next year and they were honest and didn't. They pointed out an area of concern with chimney and we have since followed up with another angie's list provider and had it fixed. Will have them re-inspect roof in 1-2 years. Highly recommend!!

Given the age of the shingles (house purchased new) on our roof and a leak showing up in the master bath ceiling, I felt they needed replaced. Tim Newman, the owner of Newman Roofing, came to our home to give us a quote on replacing the shingles. He answered all the many questions we had. I think he truly understood our desire to get a quality job and our high expectations were his. With the number of soffit vents already on the house and assuring the roof ridge vent gaps would be made the proper width, if necessary, Tim assured us we would not need any powered exhaust fans. Another thing that was of great importance to us was ice dam protection. Due to the design of our front roof and the house orientation to winter storms, snow piles up into the valleys and surrounding roof and stays, if it remains cold. After the house was built, I installed two roof heaters to help lessen ice dams that form. We wanted ice and water protection for this portion of the roof extended further than normal. Tim agreed with our assessment and added that in writing to the quote removing the roof heater cable as well. I believe the materials he uses are of great quality based on research I made earlier. He also would remove all old wood drip edge and offered to paint (provided by us) the area under it to match the fascia trim color. Tim made an inspection of the roof and determined the leak in the master bath was caused by nails driven into the roof for scaffolding during construction and then removed (without sealing the holes), resulting in holes that eventually opened up and let water in. He showed us a picture of the enlarged holes in the shingles. Tim told us the tear off and replacement with new would take a full day. Aaron, the job supervisor, and his crew arrived early on roofing day, protected shrubs and grass with tarps and the garage door with plywood. Aaron was well versed in what had to be done and passed it on to the crew. They worked hard and study all day with a well deserved rest during lunch. Most of the old roofing material removed was carried to the dumpster across the roof. The remainder that slid off the roof was carried to the dumpster in tarps. Sheeting was replaced where two holes were found, as a result of the nail holes in the shingles Tim found, as mentioned above. I witnessed the holes in the sheeting that were large enough to put a fist through. A water damaged fascia board was also replaced. The ice and water shield was installed as Tim directed and confirmed by him when he visited the the job early in the afternoon. We were satisfied, as was Tim, that our whole roof would be protected from water damage due to ice dams. The new ice and water protection, new synthetic underlayment, new vent stack seals, new shingles and new ridge vents with caps went on during the rest of the day, finishing up in the evening. The job clean up went very well. As their brochure states, they left our property as clean as when they arrived. Very few nails ware found in subsequent days after the job and most of them were around shrubs where they filtered down to the ground through the shrubs with the wind. Met again with Tim the next day for an inspection. He was as pleased as we were with our beautiful new roof. Tim sincerely wanted be sure we are happy with the job. Some of the things I look for in any contractor is trust, value in price, professionalism, integrity, quality of material used and workmanship. With a lot of sketchy businesses out there, it is refreshing to find an honest businessman like Tim with all these qualities. We would call on him again for any of our roofing needs and will highly recommend him to others. Thanks to the Newman Roofing team for a job well done.

Called, and Newman Roofing came out almost immediately! There was a lot of debris caught where two roof lines met , and that was forcing water up and under the flashing. Instead of just telling us to clean our roof, Newman's Roofing cleared out the debris, and refastened the flashing and shingles so they were tight to the roof should debris accumulate in the future. We could have been an easy customer to ignore, but Newman Roofing stood behind their commitment to quality. Very impressed!
Description of Work: Original work (roof replacement; minor repairs) was done in 2011. Called this time because we had a slight leak and we weren't sure if it was because of a shingle/flashing issue or something else. Newman Roofing came out promptly and fixed the problem.

I am an accountant/CPA (insert jokes here!) with construction industry experience and roofing knowledge. I was VERY detailed in my expectations for my total roof replacement (hail damage), especially after seeing some questionable work from some reputable ?bigger? names on neighboring hail-damaged houses. I met with five Angie?s List highly-rated roofers to first confirm damage for making an insurance claim, and then again to interview and get quotes. My requirement for choosing a roofer was four-fold: Value-Pricing, Quality Materials, Quality Workmanship, and Trust. The only roofer that I felt could comfortably deliver on all 4 counts was Newman Roofing, owned by Tim Newman. While some people name their company after themselves out of pride, I believe Tim simply wanted to attach his strong personal integrity and character to his company operating within the oft-times sketchy roofing industry. Of particular note: 1) Tim demonstrates integrity and professionalism from the moment you first meet until the end of the job. He does not make excuses, even on some goofy negative reviews on Angie?s List. 2) There?s a high likelihood of dealing directly with Tim (the owner!) on a large project like this. 3) Tim genuinely listened to my detailed expectations, and did not shy away from accepting the challenge/job, since my high expectations were his own expectations. Conversely, when I was unreasonable, he wasn?t afraid to say so and to not oblige?I respected him for that, as I despise an over-promise/under-deliver situation. In hindsight, my ?laundry list?, while necessary for keeping a lesser roofer in line, was rather insulting for a professional roofer with Tim's character. Yet, it was water off his back; he truly understands biting his tongue and providing excellent customer service. 4) Everyone on Tim's roofing team, top to bottom, is professional, respectful, hard-working, happy and clean-cut. He personally knows each crew member and their work quality; there is no utilization of ?storm chaser? temporary crews from Texas, etc. like you'll likely get with larger roofing companies. 5) Tim made recommendations that were based on his professional experience for best practices and looks, not necessarily what was best for his profit. He did NOT nickel and dime the process. 6) There was no matting or stress to grass, as 99% of roof tear-off was carried across roof directly to dumpster versus thrown all around the house onto tarps and either dragged or wheeled across/through the yard to the dumpster. 7) Tim included a couple of additional services that other roofers either wouldn?t do or would have charged extra. 8) Job clean-up was superb?I only found two or three nails, as promised (my roof likely had 12,000+ in tear-off)! 9) Tim returned a few days later to review the work and your happiness/satisfaction. If anything is not right, he insists on correcting it immediately; if you aren?t happy, he REALLY isn?t happy. Even though my roof installation had a couple of ?fumbles? due to various circumstances, the ball made it across the goal line for a huge winning score. Even with knowledge of the specific fumbles, one neighbor, who had no hail damage, stated I have the best looking roof out of all the recent roof replacements in the neighborhood, and to hang onto Tim?s phone number for future reference. Another neighbor felt my new roof upstaged their recently replaced roof. The real test: We just went through one of the snowiest, harshest winters and some hard spring rains. The roof hasn't had a single problem! It is a real, and increasingly RARE, pleasure to do business with someone of Tim?s character. I would absolutely use Tim again and recommend his company without reservation. Thank you Tim, Alex, and crew!

Upon numerous referrals from my neighbors about getting a new roof I called Tim Newman. He came out to our house, looked over the old roof, gave his suggestions and estimate in an easy to understand explanation. His willingness to make common sense improvements on our roof was refreshing as he made no attempt to oversell or recommend any unnecessary costly changes. He noticed something that 3 other companies never mentioned in their inspection and estimates as well and that was that we had about a 4 inch gap between the gutters and the decking. He recommended covering that with a drip edge for the entire perimeter of the roof. His quote was pleasantly a few hundred less than Feazal and some others, but what really sold me was that he was someone who knew his craft and cared about delivering a quality product. His Angie's list ratings firmly back that up. They came out on the morning of 6/4 promptly set up and begun to remove the old roof. Around 11am they had to stop due to rain for an hr. However once that stopped they were back at it. When I got home from work I was greeted by Alex who was the job foreman and he brought me up to speed with everything and showed me the old decking they needed to replace which I told Tim to replace as needed during his estimate. By 6:30 pm they were all cleaned up leaving my new landscaping intact and yard free of any debris. You wouldn't have known that a new roof was put on if you weren't there to see it that day. Never at any time during the entire process did I feel like we were getting shortchanged or our best interestes ignored. I had complete confidence in their ability to deliver.
Description of Work: Cleaned out all gutters, removed old shingles, installed new vapor barrier, removed deteriorated & mold damaged decking and replaced with new OSB board, cut new roof venting holes, installed new peak vent, installed 4 new ridge vents, re-capped sewer vent, re flashed chimney/roof junction with steel flashing, installed new custom drip edge entire perimeter of roof, enlarged all the existing soffit vents to match the increased ventilation provided by the ridge vents, replaced the shingles.

Birds were getting into our attic and the Wildlife Control Company said we needed drip edge around the entire roof (they were awesome too, by the way!). I had called Newman's already, based on Angie's List reviews, for an estimate, but when WCC said they recommended them as well, it was a no brainer. The three other companies from whom I received estimates said it would be around $1100 to install the drip edge. Newman's was HONEST and said we didn't need it all the way around, only in the corners, significantly decreasing our cost.............but significantly INCREASING their chances of getting ours, our friends' and our family's business in the future. GREAT EXPERIENCE!

Mr. Newman was highly knowledgeable, punctual and professional, also providing a timely confirmation call about an hour before our appointment. Upon inspecting our sky light and roof, Mr. Newman explained the situation with our sky light, our options and his recommendations. In short, he performed an adjustment to the sky light flashing that should solve our immediate issue, and advised that we monitor the situation. Our roof being in general in good condition, he advised that we try to get the sky light to last until closer to the end-of-life for the shingles if possible. He also offered other options, and was happy to provide additional services, if we were inclined to take a more aggressive approach. While offering sound recommendation and advice, he was careful to explain the situation so that we could consider the various options from our point of view. After spending the time for the inspection, plus his travel time and expenses, he also declined to accept any payment for his services. He even took the time to explain to me in sufficient detail what he did to the sky light so that I could do it myself in the future should it be necessary.
Description of Work: Mr. Newman came out specifically to inspect a leaking sky light and also to provide a general roof inspection.

We had four different bids for replacing the roof on our house and garage. Tim Newman stood out from the crowd. He was punctual, courteous, insightful, and honest- and I can't say that of some of the others. He worked with our schedule, and answered all of our questions. I was also delighted that he gave us the best price of all of the bids. The job was done on time; the crew was courteous, professional and did excellent work. There were even small areas of the sheathing that needed replacement which were repaired at no additional charge. After this never ending winter, the roof looks as good as new, and we are very satisfied. I would strongly recommend Newman Roofing.

A roof leak left stains on the ceiling. Two employees came just slightly after the appointed time (called to inform me that they would be a bit late because of snow on roofs making work more time-consuming), and assessed the situation from inside, outside and the attic . They took photos of the damaged area to show me and recommended replacing a small amount of shingles and then sealing around all of the skylights. They also informed me that the original seals on the specific types of skylights in my home have a history of failure and the manufacturer no longer uses that type of seal. They could re-seal these areas at present but could not guarantee the work. I approved the work and it was completed in a quality manner in about an hour. The servicemen were pleasant, responsive to questions and willing to go up on my steep roof despite the cold temperature and light wind. I give them an A+ for that.

I can't imagine a better company than Tim Newman Roofing. We had a preconceived idea of what we thought the color of the new shingles should be. Tim Newman brought the colors we had chosen, and several additional colors. He went up on the roof and tacked down the samples to let us see how they would look. We found that our choices were not really the best, when we saw them on the roof and how they would blend with other colors of the chimney and trim. Tim went the extra mile to be sure we got what would look best. Then came the removal of old roofing and the installation of the new. Everything was done with care and consideration for the homeowner. His roofing team had all worked together for many years, and everyone worked well together to do an excellent job. Cleanup was fantastic--no junk left lying around in the bushes and no messes left behind. Prepare to be impressed and delighted by the quality of their materials, their work, and their consideration for the homeowner. If every business were as consumer-friendly as Tim Newman Roofing, this would be a better world for everyone!
