Not once did anyone simply say, "I'm sorry you are experiencing problems with your mattress, let me see what I can do to help". After a discussion with a Sedlaks customer service rep earlier in the week, I received call back from her today telling me that, Jan Sedlak said they cannot do anything about the mattress but if I wanted to buy a new one, she would give me the sale price. Seriously??? Why would I want to purchase another of the same mattress I'm already having issues with? Sedlaks is clearly out of touch with their customers, in desperate need of customer service training and service recovery training. I will never shop in this store again and would never recommend it to anyone. They do not stand behind their products and do not treat their customers with the respect they deserve.
Description of Work: I purchased a Schifman mattress from Sedlak interiors less than a year ago. The mattress in the store was VERY comfortable but the mattress I received was no where near this comfortable. Within the first year we noticed that the padding on the top of the mattress migrated to the center and sides of the bed despite following the recommendations for flipping the mattress. I went into the store to speak with someone about this issue and the sales person was basically dismissing me. When I told him I was dissatisfied with his level of assistance he called another salesman who was also one one of the rudest human beings I have truly ever met. They arranged for the mattress rep to come to our house - he was also quite rude and apparently only interested in proving me wrong. He told me that the mattress had normal wear and I should sleep in the center of the (queen) mattress to fix the problem. I did not feel for the amount we spent on the mattress this was a acceptable solution.

I purchased the couch and two chairs, expierence was good until 4 months after owning the furniture a black spot appeared on one of the chairs in the head area. I was told it is from my husband's head touching the leather either because of 1) chemicals in his body 2) hairspray etc. 3) medication he may be taking Then i was informed it was UNPROTECTED leather and the only way to prevent that from happening is not to let the body come in contact with the leather, that it could also start discoloring the arms also. I was NEVER told that when I made the decision with a salesman on this furniture, I did not know there was protected or unprotected leather, who would ever buy this furniture if your body could not come in contact with it! Sedlaks would not take the furniture back with a full refund. They did replace the piece of leather with a new one. Also replaced the seat cushion which within a few months went flat. My husband now sits in the old fake leather recliner, and the new one sits there looking good. I tried to keep a blanket over the chair but it kept falling off so he does not sit in it.

It went horrible!
Description of Work: We bought two leather Barcalounger recliners, with lifetime warrenties, from Sedlaks. When they were delivered, I noticed a huge scratch on one, and the other had a tear in the leather on the backside. I called and they sent someone to patch the tear with some melted vinyl kit. The did not repair the scratch. I called again and asked about the scratch--they sent someone out who used a brown magic marker on the leather. Within 3 months, one of the mechinisms pulled out from the frame and bent. this was caused by a defect in engineering--the bottom of the footrest would hit the floor if someone was sitting in it and reclined. Otherwise, when no one was sitting in it, it cleared the floor fine, if you pushed on the backrest to open it. Someone came to look at it and they took it to their shop to replace the mechanism. When it came back, it still brushed the floor when reclining. I don't have high pile carpet, I have berber. Flash forward to Christmas, some 6 months later. My elderly father sat down in the chair--the one that was repaired once already--and it just collapsed. My husband put the chair into the spare room to get it out of the way, till after the holiday was over. After New Years Eve, approxamatly January 4th, when my children went back to school from holiday break, I was vaccuming when I noticed the other, remaining chair wasn't closed properly. I couldn't close it and realized the same thing had happened to this chair now. I called Sedlak's, as I intended to, now the holiday was over. I left a detailed voice message with Geri, the customer service manager. After not hearing back days latter I called again and left another message. Still, no call back. I called a few days after that and got her on the phone. Geri was wishy washy and said she'd see what she could do and she would get back to me. I ended up calling her back and she said Sedlak's was not going to help me or service my recliners. I ended up finding someone on my own, someone in Akron, to repair them for $300 each. He said it looked like they had been dropped off the trucks and that there were cracks in the frames of both chairs that contributed to the failure of the mechinisms, along with the poor design. He also built up the bottoms of the legs so the reclining mechanisms don't drag the ground. I'll be leaving him a glowing report, next.

The woman who greeted us did not offer to find us a salesperson, but instead told us to go into the store and dial 3030 at one of the phone stations if we want help. Since the tags don't even tell you which manufacturer made the furniture, I'm not quite sure how you wouldn't end up with help. In addition, the map (at the phone location, not the front of the store) was very general, listing only a couple manufacturers. Once we figured this out, we quickly found a phone and dialed. They assured us someone would be right over. After several minutes, a woman came and pointed out the BY chair, but couldn't answer any questions about it and said a salesperson was on their way over. We waited awhile and called again. This person said to go ahead and browse and we would get paged. We did so, and I assure you were listening for the page. After at least 15 minutes since the first call, we called again. We were told we were paged and they would send the person back over. The guy who came over seemed quite put out that he had to talk to us. He was all over the place with recommendations, and when we asked about leather selections for the chair, he told us to go to the recliner section on the wall. There wasn't one Bradington sign there, and we finally found some marked Bradington across the way. Grrrrrrrr. Now, having later looked at the website, the leather names on the wall were actually for Bradington but I've no idea how we were supposed to know that. The names sounded like other companies. This is the second time we have gone into Sedlak's and found the staff went beyond unhelpful to gruff. It seems like none of them are happy. We will never walk in there again.
Description of Work: We are in the process of trying to buy several pieces of furniture. We went to Sedlak's specifically to look at Brandington Young tilt-back chairs, and several other pieces.

They spend a great deal of time looking for the clock that matched our desires/the right style/right tone/and the right sound. I have been happy with this company. I have used them in the past and once again I have had great service.

The mattress purchase was fine. We knew we wanted higher quality mattresses and didn't want a fly by night place so went to Sedlak for Stearns & Foster brand. The sales person (Dick Pardee) was very helpful. Delivery was another matter. When taking a mattress and box spring to the basement the delivery people put holes in the underside of each when pivoting around the landing and hit the banister. They also broke the landing step in the process. And, their hands were dirty so they got the mattresses dirty. We made them wash their hands but it didn't help the one that was already dirty. The delivery people did not seem to care that they were providing poor service.
Description of Work: Purchased 5 mattresses from them for our home.

In June of 2006, I placed an order for a chair from Sedlak Interiors. I thoroughly questioned the salesman, Dick Pardee, who assured me that the chair I sat in would have the same quality as the chair I ordered. My head is not supported and my feet do not touch the ground, which I need. I don't want this chair, and I want a full refund for the price I paid for the chair. I have contacted the company and they want me to pay a restocking fee for them to take the chair back of approximately $300+.

WE HAD SEARCHED AND SEARCHED FOR THE RIGHT ENTERTAINMENT ARMOIRE FOR OUR LIVING ROOM AND WE FOUND IT AT SEDLAK. I LOVE THE FACT THAT THEIR SALESPEOPLE DO NOT WORK ON COMMISSION, SO THEY DON'T BUG YOU WHILE YOU'RE TRYING TO LOOK. THE PIECE WAS DELIVERED PROMPTLY AND ONE OF THEIR PEOPLE CAME OUT TO TOUCH UP A COUPLE OF SCUFFS.

SALESPERSON (JULIE PETROF) WAS RUDE AND ARGUMENTATIVE. SHE REFUSED TO HONOR THE PRICES SHE GAVE US OVER THE PHONE. THE OWNER SPOKE TO ME AND WAS NOT INTERESTED IN HEARING WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS HORRIBLE.

THE ENTERTAINMENT CENTER WAS DELIVERED AND CARRIED DOWNSTAIRS. THE DELIVERYMEN WERE CAREFUL TO NOT DAMAGE THE WALLS, PANELING OR THE STEPS. MY IMPRESSION OF SOME OF THE SALES STAFF IS THAT THEY ARE STANDOFFISH - BUT BEING PERSISTENT WILL GET YOU WHAT YOU WANT AT THIS STORE.
Description of Work: I NEEDED AN ENTERTAINMENT CENTER FOR THE BASEMENT. I HAD CERTAIN HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS. I WORKED WITH A SALES ASSOCIATE, LOOKING THROUGH MANUFACTURERS' BOOKS AND WE FOUND A BEAUTIFUL CHERRY ENTERTAINMENT UNIT THAT FIT PERFECTLY IN THE SPACE AVAILABLE.
