The windows are beautiful. But this company is so unprofessional and difficult to get a hold of, it wasn't worth it and we will never hire them again. We paid 50% down in July 2008 and were told installation would start in 6 weeks. 12 weeks later, after repeated calls, they finally started installing. The workers--Mr. Thomas and typically just one other worker--arrived mid-morning (around 10-11am) and left mid-afternoon (3-4pm) every day they worked. On several occasions no one arrived, and I didn't find out that they had decided to cancel the day's work for one reason or another until I contacted Mr. Thomas directly. According to Mr. Thomas, our installation was more complicated than the usual install, which necessitated over 3 weeks of installation. By Thanksgiving, they had finished the bulk of the installation work and had only a few clean-up items remaining, plus Mr. Thomas had offered to wait and install the screens in early Spring. After repeated phone calls, Mr. Thomas finally came out in mid-December but was unable to finish all of the clean-up items, and promised to come back soon to caulk the two large living room windows that remained drafty. By mid-January, I was tired of waiting for them to arrive. Again. I started calling a few times one week, then once every day the next week. At the end of January, Mr. Thomas actually answered his phone and indicated that he would be out to my house later that week. He never came. February 9-13 I called two times a day. Then, February 16-20, I called three times a day every day. Morning, noon, and night. Normally I wouldn't like to be so aggressive, but I felt like I was out of options. Even so, Mr. Thomas never answered his phone, nor did he return any of my calls. The following week (February 25), my husband sent him an email that went unanswered. Finally, on March 2, I again emailed and told him that I would be contacting the restoration society who had given us his name to assist me in getting a hold of him. I got a response on March 3, saying that he would be out that coming Friday, (March 6) to caulk the windows and that he would install the screens as soon as the weather broke--possibly the following week. Shockingly, Mr. Thomas did arrive on March 3 and caulked the window, which took approximately 15 minutes. (So much arm-twisting on my part, for 15 minutes of work!) He also confirmed that he would be out again the week of March 9-13 to install the screens, and he would call by Monday, March 9, with a specific date. At this point (April 27, 2009--9 months since first hiring Mahoney) the screens are still not installed. For Mr. Thomas's part, on the rare occasion when I do manage to speak or email with him, he insists that they are incredibly busy and constantly working long hours with short staff. I get the impression that my smaller job is getting continually pushed aside by larger, newer jobs. Unless all of this work was contracted previous to July 2008? Somehow I doubt that. The contractor finally installed the screens mid-May 2009, after legal action was taken.
Description of Work: We hired Mahoney Sash to replace all of the windows on the front of our our, plus several side windows. They removed the old windows, installed custom-made new windows, and were supposed to install screens. We hired them in July 2008 and are still waiting for the screens.
