Basement Doctor came in to my house to do an estimate. The good:-The salesman showed up on time and was very professional. The bad:-Overpriced-Scare Tactics (including badmouthing over companies)-"Patented" system is actually a sales gimick in my professional opinion (I am a Mechanical Engineer)-No good thought process/engineering on design / installation plan (I believe this is why it was overquoted - the proposed system didn't attempt to utilize the existing exterior down spout plumbing or exisitng sump pump!)Overall, the impression of the sales approach was ... If you don't use our system, you'll be sorry - so let us overcharge you with our "patented" system that no one else has.I wasn't convinced ... and I'm glad I didn't use them.

The Basement Guy worker came out.  He looked over my basement to find where water was coming from.  It turned out to be the furnace/AC.  He did not charge me for his time and was very helpful in diagnosing the issue.

I called The Basement Doctor because I had an unusual water issue in my basement after an unusually severe rain and though that I had a foundation problem in my basement. I got an appointment for an estimate two days after I called. The person who asnwered the phone was very courteous and friendly. When the estimator, Greg Martin, arrived promptly, even a few minutes before the scheduled appointment time, I explained to him what I thought the problem was, after which he told me what he thought the problem was (tree roots) and that I did not need any expensive basement work. He was most pleasant and I really appreciated that there was no hard sell for something I did not need. I would definitely call The Basement Doctor again should the need arise. It was a positive experience from beginning to end.

Basement Doctor had performed work at our former house and we were very pleased with their work.I contacted them to provide a price quote and see what equipment they had available. They could provide a standard 1/3 hp or upgrade to a 1/2 hp pump. After receiving their information, I contacted another Angie Listed "A" company for their price and information on their equipment. They would provide a 1/2 hp pump. I investigated the equipment to be provided by both companies and the pumps were comparable quality. The battery backup from the Basement Doctor's battery had a better amp-hour rating, but the Basement Doctor's price for a 1/3 hp pump system was higher than the other company. I contacted the Basement Doctor and we negoiated and lower, fair price for the 1/2 hp pump. We scheduled a date and time for the installation. The technian was right on time. He was experienced in the work and completed the work from start to clean up in reasonable time and everything was done to our satisfaction. The new sump pump operates fine and is much quieter than the old one.

The bracing looks sturdy.  I'm confident that the wall they braced will no longer move inward, and may return to vertical over several years.

The work crew explained what they were doing, cleaned up after themselves, and were very pleasant.  CMJ Engineering initially told me that the wall needed bracing, and recommended that Basement Doctor do the work.  I would use both firms again.

We really enjoyed everyone involved with this company- from the initial phone call i made for the estimate with the office, to meeting with Wes who came out and gave us our estimate (which mind you he took his time to explain to us why we would benefit from certain things, and what the whole entire process would entail, we really felt like he cared and enjoys his job) When the project was about to start, we met with Dan who lead the team that did the work on our basement, he was super friendly as well. I was not only amazed by how quick they did everything to our scary 80+ year old basement (2 days!!!), but the end result was stunning ! Dan even moved our washer and dryer back for us, which he didn't have to do, SUPER NICE!  I am no longer scared to walk into our basement! I am highly impressed with the work that has been done, and even though anytime you have work done on your basement its an investment, it was well worth it. I would highly recommend the basement doctor to anyone! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

We noticed leaking in our basement which had destroyed a number of items near the wall. We contacted a different service we found on Angie's list, but they said they could not effectively seal the leaks. When we called the Basement Doctor, they responded quickly and a representative came within a week. After a thorough review of the damage and repair, an outline of the costs, and a quick decision to have the work done, we set a date 3 weeks out. The work was completed within a day (4 wall cracks sealed). The men did a fine job of keeping the upstairs clean and protected. When they were finished, the area looked as if they had not even been there save for the actual work completed. A beautiful job, too.

They did a great job. They made it handicapped-accessible and we were very pleased with the job that they did. What stands out about them is their professionalism, the quality of work and the job that they did. They were very eager to please the customer. They cleaned up their workspace and there was nothing for me to clean up. The people that they sent were courteous and they worked.

They were fabulous in every aspect.  It was about a $17000 job and so it was pretty expensive.  They were there for four days doing the job.  I liked that they were prompt.  They cleaned up after their work.  They did an excellent job.  They were excellent.  They were very accommodating.  Their price was comparable to everyone else.  Their finished product looked far superior compared to some others.  I will use their services again in the future.  In fact I told all my neighbors not to go and check out five or six different companies because I interviewed about six different companies.  I told them not to waste their time and I told them to just go to The Basement Doctor.  I actually have had some bad experiences with people outside of Angie’s list, and I would never have anything else done except with the people that are with Angie’s list.

I called them right after I noticed the problem, within a few days they came out and diagnosed the problem and I agreed to have them do the work.  They came out at 7:30 AM until 4:00 pm.  They did an excellent job and they cleaned up after themselves.  I highly recommend them; everyone was very professional and courteous.

We had gathered our estimates and they did the best job of explaining what the problem was; what was causing it and how to "fix" it.

They were in line with the other estimates from a cost perspective.

The work they performed was well done and it was done quickly.  The left NO mess at all.

The work went quickly and professionally.  The crew was careful to protect our environment and to keep us notified of what they were doing and when to expect noise, etc.  This was especially important as we have two older dogs and we were able to schedule their water theraphy for the noisiest day. There was an additional problem discovered with plumbing into the basement.  A pipe from the street to the water meter had to be replaced by another contractor.  The Basement Guys were unable to waterproof that spot until after the repair was completed.  They returned promptly and completed the work, also double checking for any chips or gaps that had arisen in the foam insulation and fixing them  and touching up the waterproofing epoxy where the termite company had drilled holes in the basement wall.  We were extremely pleased with tjeir service.

They were very punctual, informative, kept me updated about what they were doing and they did some extra caulking as well.  The young men that were working here were very nice.  The wall is fixed and the leaking has stopped and I'm very happy with the work that was done.  They were able to do the job without tearing my deck up or my yard.

They were very honest! They told me that my job was not that big and that I really didn't need them. They told me what I needed to look for instead. They were also very professional.

As I stated previously, unless you are looking for a basement waterproofing contractor that is either incompetent or deceiptful, I would look for someone other than J&D Basement Systems/The Basement Doctor.  There performance was terrible.

I was very happy with them.  They investigated and gave an honest report along with suggestions.  It urns out my problem was a window problem and did not involve the foundation or flooring.  However, I was still satisfied with this company.

They did a great job!  They disinfected the mold, scarifying, and put two coats of epoxy on, laid new glass block windows, and also put in a new sump pump.  I had older drain pipes and they laid new pipes on the outside as well.  They laid down plastic to make sure there was no damage on my yard.  They were absolutely awesome and I have recommended them to others!
