John telephoned, we set up a time and the project was started, 17 days later with a few mid-stream adjustments the job was finished.  The bathroom / shower were completed as designed, it was on-time and within the estimate.  We are very satisfied with the workmanship.  My mother-in-law wants John to give her an estimate on her kitchen.

Liked the plan.  Also provided a price listing related to the renovation which was helped.  Only problem was the long wait until we received the plan and list.

John worked closely with our waterproofing contractor to remove the deck and rebuild it after the work was completed. His crew arrived on time and worked hard to get the job done. I was very pleased with the results and John's responsiveness. I plan to use this company for future renovation work.

The owner arrived on time for this appointment and was energetic, had creative ideas and took careful measurements. He said it would be "about a week" until we heard back.  The way he said it, I figured it would more likely be 1 1/2 to 2 weeks before we heard anything. That was 5 months ago. I am still waiting to hear.  I contacted another provider after waiting a couple of weeks and hearing nothing from Desborough Construction. They came out, gave me estimates, helped me to select all the materials, scheduled the job, and completed all the work by the end of March.

Said he would have an estimate in about 2 weeks. We never heard back from him. Called him twice after three weeks and he never returned our calls

It was fine. We hired them for just the plan and did not proceed with their design. The quality of their design was good. The people were professional and nice. We were pleased with their timeliness.

I replaced a 15-year old hot tub and the new tub required updated wiring.  Since I knew John from a past job he'd completed for me, I gave him a call.  As usual, he was very responsive and willing to help for a reasonable rate.  Since I know and trust John, I was comfortable having the work done when I wasn't home.  I'll be calling on him again.

It went very well and I would definitely use Desborough construction again! Cannot recommend this company highly enough.

The estimate process was smooth and detailed.  John, the owner, came to our house one night (at a time of our convenience) for about two hours.  He responded with a detailed, priced estimate within 3 business days.  Once the terms were in agreement, work began within a two week period.  The job itself lasted six weeks of calendar time, but the crew was onsite approximately half that time due to delivery and offsite working schedules.  John handled all of the interfacing with the city of Mentor for permits.  He also arranged for the inspections (with times of our approval) and welcomed our attendance.
 
Once construction began, John and his staff were always punctual, pleasant, and clean.  They used high quality electrical and construction components.  They used Sherwin Williams paint and primer with colors of our choice.  John also meticulously matched the baseboard, molding, railing, spindle and door styles from the rest of the house, so the room feels like a natural extension.  All of the new construction was well blended into the existing framing and drywall that existed around the stairwell.
 
John was also extremely accommodating.  He agreed to changes in wall insulation and ceiling framing after work had already begun.  The ceiling change required him to redo recently finished work.  Also, when our existing sump pump failed suddenly during construction, John brought himself and his plumber over on a Sunday afternoon to replace it.  There was no additional charge beyond parts and normal installation.
 
Overall, John and his team performed high quality work at a reasonable price.  I would use Desborough Construction again without hesitation.

I say we didn't have a good experience with them. The gentleman was nice enough but the wait turn around was just kinda' like an automated. We were expecting to see some actual help in making some decisions and that's not what we got. Maybe our expectations were off, maybe weren't clear.

The representative from the firm never contacted me to performed the estimate. I gave him three weeks to see if the company would perform the estimate, however, no one did.

Overall the installation went great, although there was a lot of dust, we were very happy with the end product.

Desborough Construction completed everything that was requested to our satisfaction and on-time as promised.   Desborough Construction performed all jobs with professionalism and courtesy.   When jobs were completed, the work areas were cleaned to our satisfaction.  We are extremely satisfied.

Mr. Desborough did a fine job of what he promised. He put a lot of time into the design for $50. He listened well to what we wanted and came as close as he could with the design. I thought he did a great job.

I would like to write a review regarding "A" rated service, but unfortunately I never received a call back to even explain the work I'd like to have done.

Contacted because of high ratings. I really felt like I could trust him. I was told he had to speak with his carpenter and that he would contact me by the end of the week........ it is now February and I still have not heard from him. I am not interested in chasing down contractors. I really did not want to write a review regarding this but after being frustrated by contractors not following up ... I decided I had to. The only thing I can think of is that maybe he did not possess the skills needed to do the job and instead of telling me that, just didn't call back. Not sure - wish he would have let me know.

It never happened.  After a couple or so weeks later, I finally contacted him to get status of quote.  He told me he was too busy and that I needed to look for someone else.  Normally, I would be ok with that but with two young children, I had to reschedule an appointment to wait for him to show up (which he was running at least an hour late but gave last minute notice) and then to find out he doesn't even have time to do it.  I hate that a contractor is overbooked and still like to waste people's time.

The project is complete and went very well.  John came to the house to estimate the project.  He made a rough sketch of the project requirements on his electronic tablet.  He explained what would be done and asked questions to clarify/confirm what was needed. I explained that the project needed to completed in time for my Father's release from Rehab.  John returned the initial estimate within a couple of days.  We exchanged emails with links to product websites to make final product decisions. With the final estimate and a 50% deposit, John ordered the materials.  The materials arrived within one week and the project was scheduled for the following week.  The project was completed on time and within budget. All of the work was done within three business days as promised except for installation of the grab bars.  This was because I requested that the grab bars be switched from stainless to chrome at the end of the project. John responded to my change request with great professionalism.  Unlike some contractors, John did not try to change my mind or show any sign of frustration. John quickly identified alternate products, explained additional product costs, determined the anticipated delivery date, ordered the new grab bars and installed them immediately upon receipt.   John and the entire crew were very polite and professional. They took great care of my parent's home in the process.  They laid drop clothes from the front door to the project site each morning. At the end of each day, they removed the drop clothes, cleaned and vacuumed the entire area. John and his team take great care in their craftsmanship as evidenced by the quality of the final product. The shower is beautiful. 

It is clear that we have found John to be a trusted contractor. We have asked John to provide estimates for additional work.

We look forward to working with Desborough Construction again.

It was an Angie's list big deal.

I knew from the first evening I met John that he was going to be the right guy for my job.  He had such great ideas about what I should do with the space.  He was creative and passionate about the job from start to finish.  This was, by far, the most professional and satisfying experience I've ever had with a contractor.  He and his workers were the nicest, most polite guys and obviously cared about the quality of the job and, ultimately, my happiness with the final product.  To say I'm happy doesn't do justice to John.  I'm thrilled with my beautiful new family room and spend all of my time there now (and hate to leave the house!).  I highly recommend Desborough Construction and plan to call on John when I'm ready to redesign my kitchen.

Because John thought this deal had been removed as a Big Deal offering, it took a couple of tries just to get him to call us back and schedule the apt. His estimate was professional and very thorough, but it was not any more than we received from other contractors giving us estimates on our kitchen - the other estimates were free. In the end, John's estimate came in about $20,000 higher than any other, so we did not use him for the remodel.

The project went flawlessly John started exactly when he said he was going to start and finished on time. We added a few additional projects to his list as we are going along and he readily accepted the challenge. Would definitely use John and his team again.
