Description of Work: They came out for a preventative maintenance my furnace and AC system. Everything was fine. Every time they have been out, they have been very polite and courteous.

Description of Work: They snaked my laundry drain and the next day my 2nd floor bathrooms flooded and water came through the ceiling into my first floor. I did not have any problems prior to them snaking my laundry drain. Less than 24 hours later I had a backed up mess! Then I was told it was coincidental and had to pay $500 for them to unclog my drain. The whole experience was a nightmare!

Description of Work: Sal's plumbing denied simple installation of a new toilet under the false premise that my job required preliminary, over-priced preparations. They wanted to adjust the piping from the drain pipe to the toilet flange for a ridiculous charge, stating that the toilet would not seat right. Of course, the existing toilet was already removed. I told them their price was ridiculous and that they could leave the new toilet on the floor uninstalled, that I would install it myself. They certainly didn't mind since I signed off on the job. However, as they were leaving, I told them I was leaving a bad review with Angies list. Apparently this was of great concern to Sal as the employees kept returning to my front door to get me to sign their adjusted comments on my bill of sale and to talk personally to Sal who offered to barter the price. When I refused to discuss it, he said he would take the new toilet away and cancel the order. I refused this also as I figured I would be denied the opportunity to provide an honest, although negative, review to Angies list. |At present, I have consulted with two plumbers (one from Angies list) and found that the toilet does indeed fit as it should have and further, that the existing toilet flange can be connected to the floor with two screws. That is the extent of the work needed(two screws in the floor). Sal wanted an additional $465 to retrofit about 24 inches of plumbing with PVC fittings/pipe. In my opinion the Sal price is at the extreme end of what a professional plumber would ask. Considering the proposed upsale price, how can I interpret the decision of Sal's "professionals" that I needed this expensive, overpriced upsale on a simple job. Are they hacks? Is this a scam? I pity the octagenarians who trust these people in their house. |In summary, I only had Sal installing this fixture because I am modernizing this house and am overloaded with work. As such, the toilet is still uninstalled. This is great as I can show untouched status to the Attorney General's office when I submit a consumer complaint. |Lastly, I don't understand how Angies list can call this their special when Sal had been regularly offering this same deal to the general public.
