Description of Work: The hardest part is determining the window of when they'll arrive. But once they arrive, everything is good. The guy was very nice. He put booties on to cover his shoes. Performed the check thoroughly and quickly. He didn't try to sell me something I didn't need, he just did his job. I like that and I appreciate it.

Description of Work: Removed defective garbage disposal and installed a new one. They came the next day after purchasing from Angie's List because the old one developed a hole in the side and leaked water, preventing full use of the sinks.

Description of Work: I was charged $494.24 (including Angie's List $59 coupon) to replace a water pressure valve, which retails at Sal's supplier for $55.77 and to replace a $5 toilet wax ring. These were replaced while I was out of the country and approved by a relative I asked to let Sal's come to do the job. Sal's was not hired to replace the wax ring, but told my relative that water was POURING out downstairs from the toilet and it needed to be fixed, so he authorized Sal's to repair it (he did not go downstairs to confirm the leak but took the tech's word for it). The job took a total of 1-1/2 hours. Sal's labor rate is $90 per hour and my $59 Angie's list coupon should have covered the first hour of labor. Sal's considers these major repairs for which they charge a flat rate, rather than charge for parts plus their hourly rate, and these services are not covered by the coupon. After Sal's left, my toilet was continuously running, so I called them back. They offered to replace the flapper, another $5 part, for an additional $112.50. I asked them to leave and called their office to complain. After charging me $494 for $60 worth of parts and what should have been 1/2 labor after applying my Angie's List coupon, they had the nerve to ask for another $112.50 for a 5 minute job, which they should have checked before they originally left my house. | |I later had lengthy conversations with Sal and one of his associates, to question both the services performed and the price. Although Sal's insists that water was pouring into my basement, they could not answer why there was not 1 water stain on the boxes leaning again the leaking pipe. Sal did agree to fix the flapper at no additional cost. | |Sal's associate told me they gave me a deal on this job, that it was usually $100 more, and dared me to find a plumber who would do this job for less, so I made phone calls and found 4 reputable plumbers who would have charged me less than half of what Sal's charged. I stated that I would leave negative feedback and Sal said that he didn't care about negative feedback over price, alleging that I was ignorant to how plumbers charge. Sal refused to make any adjustment on the price, other than he ultimately agreed to refund my Angie's List coupon since he wouldn't honor it, and he sent me a coupon for a free furnace cleaning, but I will not allow Sal's back in my house. I paid a hefty price, but lesson learned: Do NOT hire Sal's Heating and Cooling. |

Description of Work: A year ago I had an outside facet replaced and it broke so they replaced it then when I turned it on again this spring it had been leaking all along,so I called again and had it replaced again but they didn't honor the guarantee so I think it should last more than a year! Description of Work: Replaced my frost free water faucet with a new one. It required them to move my washer and cut a hole in my wall, but all was done quickly and professionally. The service technician that came out was a real pro.

Description of Work: When I called them to setup a time, they told me that my water heater was not repairable and that a new one cost me over $700 which I could not afford at the time. I requested a refund from Angie since they did not provide a service.

Description of Work: The job involved snaking out a bathtub drain. The drain had an old pot-type trap that made it difficult to get the snake beyond the trap. After several attempts at just running the snake through the drain - and not getting it beyond the trap - at my insistance they finally removed the top of the trap and guided the snake into the trap outlet by hand. This removed the clog. At the conclusion of the job a small leak was noted under the trap. Whether or not the contractor was responsible for the leak is unknown. After a couple days we detected no further leaking. I would NOT have these people do any more work for me.
