Awful!! We had a terrible experience to begin with that has now been made worse and worse by the owner and the employees. Unprofessional and dishonest!! I can’t stress enough to find any other plumber and sewer company possible. I posted this on google a few months ago and had them call me relentlessly to try and get me to take it down: We had a major issue when our heat stopped working on Christmas Eve. We called sals bc we had heard about them on the fish. They came right out to fix it and didn’t charge us too much. We thought great! The employee who “fixed” our furnace said it would last for another year but we would have to get a new furnace soon. Wouldn’t you know it totally quit on us only 2 weeks later. We called again and tried to use a groupon we had purchased but they wouldn’t honor it. A few weeks ago we had an issue with a leaky pipe over our brand new water heater tank and by the end of that visit we needed another brand new water tank and an “upgrade” to keep it to code which cost us a small fortune. Needless to say we will never be using this company again! They replied after I had another one of their services they performed break by say I was trying to “dupe” them and that they would be sending me a bill for something they said was under warranty!

This Member is nuts. To say we and I am dishonest is going entirely to far and I will deal with that. I will not waste my time going into the story I wrote on Google. We certainly don't have any way to know how long a furnace will last. We also certainly don't have any control when we need to reinstall and do over a home depot tank under warranty because a novice installed it without the code requirements trying to save a buck. We will notify Rheem and you are lucky they paid for the new tank. This Member is upset because we charged her for the code upgrades. Demand I send her $200 before she would update the review that she promised to update before hand. Yes you duped us and attempted to black mail us into a refund. If your a Member considering to use us look at the thousands of A reviews they speak for themselves no need to be an Internet bully to get a good job. Because of little room in our utility closet, the job required removing and replacing other plumbing. David spent extra time seeing that the job got done properly, at no additional cost. Job well done. Sal's responded promptly. Another company told us we would have to wait 5 days with no hot water until they could get to us. Sal's came on same day we called.

They were unable to clear the line completely. Charged $99 for service call plus $249 for 1st hour then an additional $100 for next half hour. Left me on a Saturday afternoon with a slow draining main line. Advised me that it needed jetting to completely clear the line of sludge, which is possibly accurate, but for an additional $479 which was a "deal". But that service couldn't be done until Monday. So another 2 days with a questionable sewer line and limited use of plumbing fixtures; not knowing whether it was going to back up into my basement again. Did a test flush then went downstairs to check the basement drain. The drain seemed ok but Oh my gosh! They left a 5' area surrounding the drain with an inch of sewer sludge. Had splashed it all over surrounding stored items. And left it like that. I had to scoop up the sludge into a bucket and rinse the floor to remove the odors. They tossed a pair of booties next to my furnace. I don't know whether to cancel the jetting or just get it done and be done with this company.

Air Conditioner fixed, however making a horrendous noise from the outside unit. He said that is normal for the age of our unit and suggested we replace the whole A/C system. After he left we were finding that the noise was extremely loud and that we could not leave it like that and so we googled it and found that a simple adjustment to the outside unit fixed the noise.

Furnace went well. However , when I tried to set up my service calls they gave me a 4 - 6 hr window and canceled. For a furnace clean and check. I wanted Sals because they sold us the product. Also I wanted them so I had a consistent maintenance co. Disappointed with that aspect of my purchase. Customer service is what I want after the sale.

I am sorry member but we do call on the way and because our customer service is so good and this is a severely discounted service on working equipment, this is the only fair option. Please also keep in mind, that repairs are unpridictable and this is why we always call on the way. There are options for on time appointments, just schedule a regular service call and we can make that happen. We do our best when we are in high demand. I purchased 2 hours’ of time to be used on plumbing projects. I described to the scheduling office what those projects were: #1) Fix a leaky faucet from dripping; #2) Replace a toilet tank flapper; #3) Fix a second (more minor) leaky faucet from dripping. On arrival, plumber challenged that his efforts could be put against multiple projects, and asked me to produce the deal as proof. I didn’t have a hard copy, so I had to go online and look it up to show him, at which point he agreed. I showed the plumber each of #1, #2, #3. After investigating #1 and #2, the plumber went out and bought a replacement faucet cartridge and a toilet flapper. He returned and installed the flapper, fixing issue #2). However, after installing the faucet cartridge for #1, he told me the leak was still present and explained that it was an inexpensive brand (Price Pfister) of faucet and often can’t be repaired. At this point he indicated he had been on the job for around two hours and indicated he was finished. I asked if he would look at #3, but he said that again, it was an inexpensive brand of faucet that would just need to be replaced. In the end, he left 1 hour 40 minutes after first arriving, including the time he spent challenging the deal and writing up an invoice. What went well: I had good, prompt communications from the scheduling office ahead of time. The plumber arrived during the scheduled time and was tidy. What should have been better: I didn’t appreciate being challenged about the deal. The office had agreed with me on what he would be looking at. The plumber should have demonstrated a “I would like to help fix the problem” attitude rather than a “this is a cheap brand”. He might have been able to fix faucet (#3) but didn’t stick around to try. The plumber should have stayed for the two hours I paid him for, instead of leaving early.

Thanks for the purchase or claiming of the multiple deals. To be honest most exclude using multiple deals at once for this reason as using one of these offers is such a severe discount it is hard to cover the cost of the plumber. I am certain we made an exception here. We do have some members that try to manipulate the system by using multiple offers to complete multiple projects from years of neglect they know should have cost much more and asking us to bend the rules. Price Pfister is a brand only sold at Home Depot and simple are not to plumbing grade quality where nothing to rebuild is sold in a plumbing house. Made of plastic to appear you are getting a good deal and saving vs hiring a plumber. I called for service at 1:39pm and was quoted a price of $99 plus tax and "no problem doing the job today" and plumber would call when he was on his way. Plumber never called so I called back at 6:07pm and they acted like I never called. Plumber showed up at 8:15pm but quoted me a price of $179 plus tax for a total of $193.32. Job was done quickly and the drain works. Too bad about all the other annoying nonsense.

It went really well. Norm and John installed my new water heater and did a great job. They moved it a little more underneath the stairs and it really opened up the space and looks so much better. They explained everything in detail. They were very careful in bringing in the new heater and taking out the old one and put runners down to protect my floors. They were very thorough and cleaned up everything before they left. Overall great service.

AWFUL. The work done is fine, the customer service between the office staff and most importantly the owner is horrendous. It started with a simple email asking the generic email box where the misunderstandings were and why things were not happening how they were supposed to be and it turned into the owner emailing back and forth pointing fingers at everyone including his customer spending thousands on work to be done. We went with the extra work of an electrical upgrade and this was stated when they called to see if we were going with their company. The technicians got to the house and had no idea, we received a call from the office that day as well with someone asking because they also didn't know and we were told that the day after I confirmed to schedule the appointment (days before they got to the house) that the estimator told them we were doing the upgrade... Still no one knew. We were also told it was a 90% chance the work would be done in one day only to find out days later that the person who told us that is not knowledgeable enough to answer those kind of questions. Later in the conversation it was followed up with saying they didn't know until the day after they told us this that it would take longer and yet no one called to discuss this with us. They refused to give us our military discount because the estimator wouldn't request it due to us already getting a "good deal". They also forgot to have us sign any paperwork before the work started. This was found out after I requested our 5% a second time due to all the errors and the awful experience we were having and Sal said no because we already signed the contract. Unfortunately for him, we did not, but they made us sign without the military discount anyway. Sal has continued to insult me as a younger home owner for not being educated (on another review I gave), but that to me is something his company should have done because no, HVAC is not my career choice. At the end of the project we received a letter in the mail addressed to the previous homeowner who I bought the home from THREE YEARS AGO. I took the risk and opened the letter due to who it was coming from and us just having work done this week. It was what I thought and just another error on Sal's part. The disorganization of this company is appalling and I highly suggest you go with someone else for a much better experience.

Hello Angie's List Members, I just had my disorganized staff pull the letter that was sent and yes the former home owner was on the letter sent. The City where the permit was filed still has the former home owner's or current for all we know, name on the permit and on file at the building dept. . We correctly put this valued new home owners correct name on the application but they go by what is on file at the auditors office. Sounds to me like you have some homework to do. According to your City, This Member was sent notice for an occupancy inspection and never had one or responded. They will now!! Sounds like this is your end and not our issue. You should work on your organizational skills. The city will be going out of there way to correct this for you now as we have shared with them your concerns. I have copied my response to the other reviews she has left and BTW they stuck it in the NOT RECOMMENDED area which is where it belongs. This young lady has no idea who I am or what we are about being in business for 43 years and making her judgments based on a few emails I responded to late into the night thinking I was helping her. To be honest please look at all the other reviews we have and make your decision, sometimes future customers need to make a decision from the reviewer as this Member is not worthy of reviewing. I do my best to please everyone but sometimes we draw the short straw with a customer and we can't really say what needs to be said because of course the customer is always right even when unreasonable. . I am constantly advised not to get involved with CSR issues but I do because it is very important to make sure your customers are satisfied. I assume "HE" is me Sal the owner and president. Most people in my position don't get involved and apparently this is unappreciated by the new generation. To dismiss this project as being fine with the magnitude it turned out to be is a compliment in itself. A review not complaining about workmanship or product is rare. During Our email exchange Which I am tempted to enclose, It is clear there was nothing wrong even though this client continued to state there was by asking how we would make it right meaning CASH OR BASH or how much of a discount can I get. Now we do this when we are truly in the wrong or make a mistake. After speaking to the estimator that was on site with her boyfriend who has a complete understanding why we could not offer multiple discounts and dealt with him the entire time had no issue with what we were doing and why. This was a 10k job this client ended up paying 6k for. We could re-invoice and charge $9500 after the discount if she likes. This was an off season discount and we can not offer a 5% additional discount on already hefty discount. I am sure we will read that the competition was $1000 less and this may or may not be true but I know from experience when this happens in the end we get the call to then truly make it right fixing the competitions issues because of a price driven decision. I am unclear why [Member Name Removed] is doing all the reviewing when she was barley involved. I respect our military men and women and Honor all discounts but they must be mentioned before we get to the mid point of an agreed job and this was all explained and understood then. The estimator went back to the home the following morning and clarified again what the cost of the job was and clarified again why we could not offer another discount on a discount. Yes [Member Name Removed] you already got a good deal. All I can say is if this is the kind of problem we are going to have after doing a FINE job and your considering Sal's to do your HVAC, Plumbing work. Then yes do us a favor and RUN RUN RUN because we would rather not work for you. We handle over 16k service calls a year and it is always the folks that don't understand all that goes into a project like this that ends up writing a review and doing the public a disservice, I will just chalk it up as a young misunderstanding in the game we call life. They worked with me and the condo property manager to make sure that all details of the high efficiency furnace were properly communicated and approved. I received assistance in determining what units would be best for the size condo I was in. No high pressure sales tactics, just simple answers to my questions and advice as to what might be best for the long term. Installers were prompt, pleasant, and efficient. They also checked to see if there were any models from 2017 which would mean a substantial savings for me. There were, and I saved! And purchasing an AC in winter was also a savings. I could easily recommend Sal's and would use them again in the future.
