.It turned out all right in the end but getting there was another story. As I said, we thought that we had hired him to replace our doors and fix a few spots where the sliding was damaged. The siding was fixed without any problems. When they went to replace the doors, evidence of carpenter ants was discovered. The damage was so extensive that more work needed to be done. They discovered that several of the windows were leaking from the outside and that attracted the ants. The wall is basically all windows so a lot of the wall had to be rebuilt. The damage went down into the deck and they had to take off sections of the deck and fix the underneath problems where the wood was rotted before installing new boards on the deck. I also had to call in an exterminator that specialized in carpenter ants to treat the problem. We had a lot of delays. Some of them were the fault of the contractor and some were not. In the beginning when the doors had been ordered, there was a delay till the doors arrived. I understand that but they had gone on to another job and we had to wait some time before they could get back to us. There were also occasions when they weren't available for personal reasons besides fighting the weather this time of year. Some delays weren't their fault such as the trim size not being standard anymore and having to be ordered. There were some compromises along the way becuase the two new big windows were smaller than the original windows. We worked together to make it look as good as it could and it ended up fine. I felt like they lived in my house for over a month. I think that Jeff is very honest and I would work with him again. He didn't see all the problems that happened. He said it was the worst case scenario most of the time. We still need to paint and get our shades rehung but that's not their job. I would really give him a B plus but I can't on your rating system because of the delays that he and his worker caused.
