They gave me a good estimate and I ended up going with a different company. It was a big mistake and I wish that I had gone with this company. I would like to give Ohio State a good recommendation. They showed what they did, they had a brochure and talked about their company. It was a regular sales presentation. It seems like they would have been a much better choice. I would use them again.

They were terrible. I didn't like them. The salesmen lied about what I was getting. They said they were going to dig up around the whole foundation. When they came, they only dug up about 18 inches down the foundation. The salesman had said they would dig all the way down to the footers. They didn't do that. They said they were going to do the inside of the water run and they could work around the plumbing. When the contractors showed up, they said, "Well we're not going to do that." I didn't get any of my money back for that. There's a foot of crawlspace that they said they were going to do also down to the footers. They didn't do much of that. I called the salespeople back and sent the contractors away because I told them this isn't what I thought I was going to get. It ended up, we settled on they were going to do the (inaudible 10:11) on the inside of the crawlspace. They still weren't going to dig up the rest of the foundation. When they did do the work, they had to come back eleven times to fix stuff because I was still getting water in the basement. One time they came back, I was supervising the work and I told them that they didn't go down deep enough and by the time they get to the other end they weren't going to be able to connect to the water drainage outside the house. When they got to the end, exactly what I had told them happened. They weren't able to connect the water pipe to the drainage system. They said, "Well, we'll just see how it goes and see if you get water in the house." I had to wait for the next storm to come to have water come in the house and take pictures of the water coming in the house so that they could come out. They did come out. I had to take the deck apart for them to do the work because they don't do that. You have to do that yourself. I had to leave it apart. I had to put up barriers so people don't walk on that deck and fall in it. I had to leave that like that for another two months for them to come back to do the work because I don't want to do it twice. When they did come back, they had to dig up the whole one side of the house, about 50 linear feet. They had to take out the old site and dig it deeper and put it back in. They could've avoided the whole thing if they weren't just trying to cut corners all the time. You have to watch them like hawks. For that much money, you shouldn't be having to watch them cut corners all the time. They're the worst contractors I've ever had. They're just out to make a buck. They really just want to go house to house and collect money off the reputation. I don't think they have a good reputation anymore. They don't deserve it.

They were very up front with what they were going to do.  They offered discounts.  If there are any cancellations, then after giving a week's notice and they will get it done in the middle of winter, fairly quickly.  I haven't had any problems.

My basement is damp... not wet. I wanted to get an idea of how much it would cost to get things fixed so I can start saving. I signed up at the NARI Home Improvement show for a free estimate. I was told that no obligation to sign a contract and no call backs would be necessary.
The salesman that came was very nice and very talkative. He went through all of the companies information and how things work, as well as his recommendations. When it came to price, it didn't seem as if there was any rhyme or reason to it...he just started punching numbers on his calculator. I was floored at how much it would cost... $16,000. I don't have that kind of money. I told him the only way I could pay for something at that price would be to take a distribution from my 401k and I don't want to do that. He started in on the high pressure sales tactics... brought the price down a little more if I signed that day. I wasn't in a position to make such a huge financial decision... I just wanted an estimate so I can start planning for it. Once he finally realized I wasn't going to sign, he was very short with me and left.
I can't tell you how many phone calls I received from them trying to get another salesman and a manager to my house to discuss the price and payment plans. I explained to one person that I just couldn't afford it but when the calls kept coming I just started ignoring the calls. Finally they got me the other day... only because they "blocked" their number from my caller ID. The girl asked me when a time was good for me to have a manager come out and discuss options with me. I told her I was not interested having this done right now... that wasn't good enough so she continued... finally I told her I no... SHE HUNG UP ON ME!!!
Even if they're product was the best in town, I wouldn't use them... they need better customer service skills. I will find another way to get the basement cleaned up at a better price.

Ohio Waterproofing conned me into signing a contract the day that they visited my house, the next day I drove an hour to their headquarters so I could turn in a cancellation form in person. The next day they sent out the salesman and his boss. They tried to discuss the situation with me and remedy what they could, I simply asked them to leave my home.
They use high pressure sales techniques, they will show you gadgets as well as a short presentation on his iPad. This company seems to be all show and like I said ? high pressure.

I called this company because I heard they were good and they were all over the place.  We have a serious water leakage problem in our basement. The salesman came out and looked over our problem.  He explained very thoroughly what they would do and how they would do it.  Their price was quite high.  When I said I was not going to commit to a decision that night he became very rude and actually obnoxious.  I explained that I was planning on contacting a couple of other contractors for estimates and I would make my decision at that time.  He continued to be very rude and extremely angry that I would not sign with him there on the spot.  The "so called" good offer he was quoting me was only good for that night. I called the main office to complain about this salesman.  I did not use nor would I have used this company after the way I was treated no matter what the cost.

This company cares more about their "Market Research" than doing their actual work.   Obviously they are reselling personal information in addition to their normal work.   After getting into what my wife and I did for a living, they refused to come out to give us a quote unless we could both be present.   My wife doesn't want to deal with contractors, and was actually busy during the agreed upon appointment time.   They refused to come unless we would both be present, so I cancelled the appointment.   To me it seems like a shady sales tactic so they could try and panic one spouse or the other.  None of the other contractors I have worked with have asked for this.  Also they wanted 1.5 hours for the appointment.   There is nothing involved here that can't be diagnosed and quoted in less than half an hour.  Both of the other quotes I have gotten were done in less than that but that was because they came from real contractors who actually do the work, not sales guys.

I never got past my initial phone call when I decided not to use them! They didn't seem to want to do business with a female. I called for waterproofing on a flip house we recently purchased and they insisted my husband be there for the estimate! I tried to explain that my husband wants nothing to do with this and it is my project but they wouldn't come out unless all homeowners were there. Are they kidding?

They did a horrible job. Because of the lifetime warranty, they had to come out each time there was a problem. They came back and redid the entire job in January. They had to come back another time to redo it as well. The people who I worked with were nice, cordial, and clean. However, underneath my house, they were supposed to put a crock for my sub pump. Instead, they just put a 5-gallon bucket down there instead. They never got a permit from Lake county like they were supposed to for the interior plumbing work. They told me they didn’t need a permit. They tied my sump pump into my sanitary drain. It made a very large noise every time it was used. When the plumbing inspector came out, they could not believe they tied it into the back tub drain. He made them come back and redo the job. They were way overpriced and I believe I paid double for the job. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Company uses high pressure sales tactics.
Entire basement covered in cement dust when they left; took a very long time to clean afterwards.
Area outside the house that sunk a couple of months after they left,  I
called and they were responsive and came back and fixed it.
***Be aware that if you want to keep the warranty it requires an annual fee each year or there is no warranty.

It was lousy service.  The salesperson was very wonderful.  He said they would find out what I need and then do it. I even had my son with me, hoping I wouldn’t get ripped off.  When I asked about the condition of the walls when they were finished, he said they would be ready to paint.  They did nothing to scrap down the walls and there were areas where there was water seepage but they didn’t even address that wall.  Apparently I signed off on that because they said the only way they could do that would be to rip off the front of my house. I have COPD and I had mold in the house that I felt was probably making me sick.  I still have mold down in the basement.  He sold me a system that didn’t address the problem that I have in my house.  I had to have the housing inspector come out and check it and the work had not been done properly on the inside and they had to redo things on the outside.  I feel extremely ripped off.  When I complained about the condition of the walls, they slapped up some plastic sheets.  I asked what that was supposed to do when they were still moldy; it just covered it up.  I was hoping to once and for all address the problem in the basement.  I spent a huge amount of money and I still have a basement problem.  They put in an exterior system but I felt they were deceptive in what they said they were going to accomplish.  The salesman said they would wipe down all the surfaces.  They were in and out of here in about three days and when I said something to the worker, he showed me a bottle the size of a bottle of aspirin and he said that’s what they used to wipe down the surfaces.  The salesman indicated that they wipe down the rafters and they would wipe down everything in the basement.  They put in an air dehydration system and that is doing something but every time I walk down to my basement, I still smell mold. I would have been happy to pay that amount if it had fixed my problem.  All that the salesman needed to do was to tell me that this system would solve this issue for me but that it would not undo the damage that was done and I would still need to have work done on the basement.  I was not provided with that information.  I withheld part of my payment because I was not satisfied and I wanted to get the housing inspector out.  They called me one time and tried to get the payment.  They didn’t ask to come out to resolve the problem.  They took me to court for payment, even though I was dissatisfied with their work.  According to their contract, they did what they were supposed to do.  According to what their salesman offered and lead me to believe would be accomplished, they did not do that.

When their first salesperson came out to our home, we were actually pretty surprised about how ignorant he was on the situation.  Then they sent a second guy and he sold us on the work.  We finally don't have water in our basement which is a miracle in itself! I would give them an A- with the fact that the first gentleman who came to our home to sell us on it didn't have a clue what he was talking about.  The pricing was probably a little high but it was for both interior and exterior.  From that standpoint it covered everything that we needed.  We had three other companies come to our home who were less but it was only interior so it would have been less done.  If we were to buy a new home, we would probably go with them.

During 2011's rainy weather, I dreaded going into the basement and finding running water. I asked OSW to take a look.
I was impressed. The sales representative, Alan, was very knowledgeable and informative. The initial team that arrived led by Mike was extremely diligent and hard-working. The company committed to finishing the job within 3 days and they had 12 men working on the 3d day to meet their deadline. They found a leaking kitchen drain pipe inside the home and repaired it. When I asked them to return and make a couple modifications, they returned quickly, did such to my directions, and at no charge. I feel like I have new living space in the home, thanks to OSW.

Our basement was notably wet the first spring after we purchased our house. We called ohio state along with a few other companies to give estimates. Ohio State's price was slightly higher but not much and they offered a lifetime trasferrable warranty so we decided to go with them. The waterproofed our basement from the inside out, installed a sub pump and air purifier. The showed up on time and completed the work in a few days. We're pleased with the results and have not had moisture problems in the basement since. We did opt for the warranty which is $50/year. Last year our sub pump broke, ohio state replaced it the next day for no additional charge. I would be happy to use them again.

They did everything they said they would do.  They were right on the spot with making sure that we were very involved in the process and answering any questions that we had throughout the process.  I would say that as far as contractors go, they did a really good job of cleaning up after themselves, and making it so that at the end of every day, our house was as assessable as it could be considering what they were doing.  They were professional, they were polite considering that my husband was at work during the day, and I was the one that was here while they were doing the job. They showed up every morning on time, and they had the whole job done in four days, and it was snowing!

I had a good experience with this company. The sales pitch is a little strong when they come out to give your estimate and their price is a little higher than some of the other alternatives, but they do a thorough job (outside & inside protection). The crew was very professional and friendly. Arrived when they said they would. There was a project supervisor in the crew making sure everything was going to plan.  The same crew came back the next day. They laid down plastic to protect my flooring between the basement and the back door, and draped it over items in the basement to keep clean. They cleaned up everything very well. I  had a conflict with the city inspector and they went above and beyond to make sure all issues were dealt with to all parties' satisfaction. They offer a warranty plan that is invaluable as I've had to have them come out a couple times to tweak some trouble areas and they've been on time, courteous, and cleaned up each time.
