We only had an estimate. The representative was very polite and wrote a professional proposal. He gave us a special price that was good "just for today". Since we wanted to get 3 estimates we refused and didnt like the pressure sales to "get it today only".

They estimated around $8300. We felt very pressured to sign, and I was not comfortable, so I canceled it the next day. I do think we were offered a competitive price, but we ended up using someone who did more exterior work than J & D was offering, even though it cost us $2700 more.

Called for an appointment. They sent us a very detailed book about basement leaks and repair to read before they came out for an estimate. Steve came out to look at our problem and told us that we did not need the services that their company offered. He recommended another company that could take care of our problem.

Foundation Repair
The sales representative was very helpful and made every effort to accommodate our needs. The work seems to have been well done and the warranty is excellent. Just a few issues: The work crew could have had a better attitude. The foreman had to insist that they take care of things (e.g. fixing a drainage pipe from the furnace that they accidentally broke) that they would not otherwise have done. The sales representative neglected to tell us that the piers might stick up from the basement floor if the footer to the house was shallow (which it was). The sales representative also told us the workers would do some patching of cracks, which they did not do. We did not have this commitment in writing. The foreman assures us that our problem (foundation movement due to unstable soil) has been permanently solved based on testing done on the repair, but time will be the true test.

The quality of work from this company was very good but the sales representatives gave us false bids on their services. We only needed a mold treatment and we were told that in order to get the mold treatment with a warranty that we would have to get our crawlspace lined even though there was no moisture in there. The gentleman that did the work even stated that he was surprised about the liner as the crawlspace was dry. We did end up having the whole work done so they would guarantee it. They were also suppose to bring out a water alarm since they did not do it at the initial service. I have not heard from the company yet regarding this. They were also suppose to give me a $100 credit but I haven't seen that either. I do feel that this price was high but according to other contractors, it was a very competitive price.

Dave Burford came to do the estimate. He was very thorough, polite, and professional without being pushy about doing any major repairs. He explained things well and I was given reading material about the company and the repair procedure. The workman came on schedule, did a fine job, and cleaned up afterwords. He did have to leave and return later to finish the job as he forgot some materials. The area seems to be dry now.

I was very impressed with the entire J&D organization. I felt that they recommended only necessary work and not a lot of extras that would have run the cost up. Bobby went out of his way to meet with the structural engineer I had hired and was able to modify an originally recommended plan, which in the end saved me several thousand dollars yet got the desired results. The work crew was very professional and really worked hard. They were a good bunch of guys. And I have to recognize Andy who is truly a jack of all trades. We ran into some situations such as a broken line from my basement to the septic system, which he was able to successfully handle. Having someone like him on the team is a real plus. The only issue that comes with a project as big as mine was the wear and tear on my lawn/patio. You just can't move that much dirt and gravel and not have wear. Overall, I would highly recommend them for this type of work.

They cleaned up their areas. They came when they said they would and completed the job in a timely manner. They had to come back because one crack was behind an electric panel and Needed an electrician to remove the panel. They were polite and kind.

They arrived on time and finished on time. the work done has kept our basement dry for the first time since we bought the house. we are very satisfied. Clean-up was OK, but wish they had swept up the dust better. Initially, the sump pump water was discharged into the lawn. This didn't work leaving a constant muddy puddle. They did come back and ran the water pipe to a drain at no added cost. This fixed the problem.

Very professional all the way around. They didn't try to talk us into anything we didn't need. The initial customer service representative came out and took pictures to show the workmen. We had a special circumstance that they helped us sort out in order to prepare for their work. The work looks great and we definitely recommend them.

I STILL HAVE A LOT OF WORK TO DO BUT THEY ACCOMPLISHED THEIR PURPOSE. THEY WERE GOOD. THEY WILL COME BACK IN THE SPRING TO FINISH THE CEMENT WORK. I DON'T KNOW IF THE PRICE WAS GOOD BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO COMPARE IT TO.

J & D PERFORMED THE WORK AS DESCRIBED. THERE WAS DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE EXCAVATION (TO A FENCE, WINDOW WELLS, DRAIN PIPES) THAT WAS ONLY PARTIALLY CORRECTED DURING A FOLLOW-UP VISIT. THERE WERE ALSO SCHEDULING PROBLEMS, AS WE WERE GIVEN ONLY HOURS NOTICE BEFORE THE JOB WAS TO BEGIN -- FAR TOO LITTLE TIME TO PREPARE THE BASEMENT. WE ULTIMATELY WORKED OUT A NEW SCHEDULE WITH THE MAIN OFFICE, BUT THIS TOOK A FEW PHONE CALLS.

WE HAD AN EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE WITH EVERYONE WE WORKED WITH AT J&D. THEY WERE VERY RESPECTFUL, THOROUGH, INFORMATIVE, AND KIND. IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT EVERYONE WE SPOKE WITH BELIEVED IN THE COMPANY AND THEIR SOLUTION. IT'S A FRIGHTENING THING HIRING OUT A JOB OF THIS SIZE -- IT'S NOT SOMETHING I DO EVERY DAY. THEY MADE IT VERY EASY TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. THEY DID WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO IT. NO SURPRISES -- JUST DELIVERY. MOST IMPORTANT, DESPITE SOME RAINFALL THAT PRIOR TO THE WORK WOULD HAVE SOAKED OUR BASEMENT, WE'RE COMPLETELY DRY. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY IN A HEARTBEAT (AND ALREADY HAVE).

WELL PRESENTED, BUT I HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH THEM. I COULD NOT JUSTIFY THE PRICE, THE ADD-ONS, NOR THE LATENT MALE CHAUVINISM. PERHAPS THEY MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER THAT WOMEN ARE OFTEN TIMES THE HOUSEHOLD DECISION MAKER.
