They arrived at the scheduled time with 4 people and went right to work on the exterior, filling joints and tuck pointing. We had removed the mulch down to the proper grade and they rebuilt or repaired every one of the basement window sills. One was particularly bad and Andy sealed the block under it with a waterproof barrier. Andy noticed that the cement steps at the side door had sunk and they removed the cracked joint and reattached the stairs to the house. They cleaned up any mess they made and even used their blower to blow our leaves to the curb for the city leaf pickup which I greatly appreciated.
The second day they worked in the basement. There were stair step cracks to repair and they sealed off the ash pit after removing a significant amount of wet and nasty ashes. They also scraped all the efflorescence from the basement walls throughout the entire basement. They were very careful not to make a mess and totally cleaned up what little mess they made.
The third day was the chimney cap repair. They built scaffolding, replaced the chimney cap, repaired some cracked brick and then sprayed the entire chimney with sealant. They also re-mortared some blocks on the landing of our addition entrance stairs. Water coming through those stairs was a source of moisture in the addition crawl space. Again such care was taken with the scaffolding not to tear up the lawn and everything was cleaned up.
"(Removed Member Name), We sincerely apologize that we are not able to help you with the scope of chimney work you have requested this time of year. Taking the time to inspect your chimney during this season is not an ideal business situation to be in knowing work cannot be performed for at least 3 months time. We would however be willing to accept photographs of your existing chimney to provide you with an informal "ball park" figure to help you with the other estimates you have received, as you mentioned we were not the only company you contacted. We will look forward to receiving your images, in which you will receive a general figure to help you budget this project. If we don't hear from you, we wish you the best of luck moving forward!"
They estimated their work schedule as being two weeks out - and they called the day before two weeks to say they were coming exactly as estimated. They showed up on time - and they worked all day (crew of 3 full time) until the work was completed.
Looks fabulous - and I am so glad this repair is done. This is a very professional business and the quality of work is very, very high.
Worth the money; will hire again. Can you say "Super Service"?
GBR repaired the firebox and exterior brick facia in a timely and professional manner. No additional work, or fee were required.
They brought over some limestone samples. We chose a sample and told them we wanted a random pattern of stone. We received a very prompt estimate and gave them a deposit for the stone.
Work began about 3 weeks later. It took two days to complete the job. They also fixed up a couple of loose bricks on the front of our house at no additional charge.
This is a great company. Danielle and Andy are very pleasant and professional. The work is of outstanding quality. They used an extra piece of limestone to make stepping stones so our mail carrier wouldn't track dirt on the porch. The work was done quickly, quietly and with great care. The crew was Andy, Danielle (who does her share of the stone work...not just office work), Ed and a stone-mason in training, Andrew.
It was a pleasure having them work on our project. I would not hesitate to recommend for any stone work.
