Barney was prompt and came out to give an estimate.  Seems very knowledge in tiling floors and have no doubt that he and his crew would do a good job.

We were very happy with the design ideas and the assistance in picking tiles, pencil molding, and glass insert.
Barney had some time the day after the tile arrived. So, he came out and did the installation that day.

Barney is very pleasant to deal with.  He answers phone calls promptly and comes when he says he will.  He takes pride in his work.  We consulted several contractors for this project, and I think he was the only one  who understood that we didn't need a complete gut of our bathroom, but wanted to work with what we have and stay within our budget.   We are very happy with the results.

They were very nice, too. He was professional, kind, and told me that if I had any questions in the future just to call. 

They did it for a very low amount becauase I'm on disability. I talked to other people and they were going to charge me $700 and he charged $300. 

He told me that the customer takes priority, and that he wanted to do something in my range that I could afford. 

I just want to tell everyone how good they are.   They are perfectionists.  The grout was previously really dirty, and they were able to redo everything.  I wanted to give them a little bit more because they worked so hard.

They came at 3:00pm and were able to finish in 2.5 hours!  It will bring up the apartment rating, too.  Anyone who sees this bathroom will love it!

Barney, Jim and crew were fabulous from start to finish.  They arrived each day as scheduled, were very responsive to questions, offered good advice, and delivered quality workmanship. They take great pride in their work and are very professional and friendly.  I had a lot of others coming and going (painters, furniture cleaners, kids, and a friendly excitable dog) and they were extremely accommodating and patient. They enabled me to makeover 2 bathrooms at a very reasonable cost. Highly recommended to anyone for any kind of remodel or flooring needs.

Barney and Jim were excellent from start to finish.  Barney came out to do the estimate as scheduled and offered good, no-pressure advice about the kind of flooring would work best and what areas to cover. They began the work within two weeks and were extremely trustworthy and reliable. I was comfortable having them around the house while I was at work. Each day when I came home I was able to witness the progress they made.  They were very friendly and professional throughout the process, and they do outstanding, quality work.  I would hire them again (in fact I did, to do work in my bathrooms) and would recommend them highly to anyone looking for any flooring or remodeling service.

Working with Barney was a completely positive experience.  He is extremely talented, professional and courteous.  I contacted Barney once we decided we needed to completely redo the tile in our master bathroom.  We also needed to repair the shower wall, as there had been no waterproof material behind the tile when it was originally built.  Barney consulted with me and offered suggestions.  He completed the work as promised and scheduled.  His work is absolutely gorgeous and we're thrilled!

Contacted Barney for an estimate to install glass mosaic tile on our kitchen backsplash. He responded immediately and came out the next day. He gave us some suggestions on how to install to keep a clean aesthetic, and provided a quote by 12pm the next day. After we had our granite installed by another provider, we scheduled a time for Barney to come out. He and Jim arrived promptly, worked neatly, and were so pleasant. They had a lot of tedious cuts to make since sections required 1.5 sheets from a height perspective, and down a small (and I mean "small") strip of wall under a cabinet where the granite was extended. While he didn't need to do this - it made the ktichen look more cohesive. They came back a few days later to do the grout.

Barney and Jim were extremely patient with my questions and requests to switch out tiles that weren't in mint condition. Both are very personable and professional. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bakai Construction to anyone. It was a wonderful experience!

Barney and his crew started work on the scheduled date.  He and his workers were courteous.  They worked efficiently and cleaned everything up at the end of the work day.  There was little disruption in the household throughout the remodel. 

Barney made many helpful suggestions throughout the process.  He shopped around for a better price on a similar tile than what I originally selected.

The quality of the work is excellent.  The shower looks beautiful as does the new floor.  I suggested my family member contact Bakai Construction for a redo of his bathroom.

We contacted Bakai Construction about an estimate. Barney arrived within days and provided estimate. He was, and is, extremely pleasant and punctual. After the tile arrived, Barney began the process by preparing the walls and installing the tile. He came back soon thereafter to apply the grout and finish the job. Meanwhile, we also asked him to install dry wall on the ceiling around a new range hood and prepare the walls for painting. He did all of these jobs within hours - beautifully! We would heartily recommend him, and plan to call on him again for a bathroom renovation.

They refused my job which I thought was very weird.  The company looked good and he was very friendly, so I think maybe he didn’t think he was going to make enough money.  He was eager to come out and meet us, but he said he couldn’t take the job when I called him back.  We were all set to go with him based on what we knew about him.  I don’t know what happened.

We were interested in remodeling our bathroom and had Barney over to check everything out. He gave us the best price, by far (think 1/3 of what other people were going to charge). I think his price was around $7,000- and other contractors gave us a price of (no joke) over $20,000.  So, we were pretty sure we were going to go with Barney on future projects. We decided not to do the bathroom, and decided to remodel the kitchen instead.

Barney came in before we had any idea what we wanted to do- he took measurements, was very patient and recommended the next steps. He recommended a cabinet company that we decided not to go with (if you are goign to remodel your kitchen, get lots of quotes on the cabinets). 

Fast forward a few monthsand the project is almost done (waiting on a few extra cabinet pieces- not Barney's fault). We have new cabinets installed, a new floor, new walls in places, appliances installed, new electrical- all for around $15,000 in labor.

Everything turned out really well. The kitchen looks great. They found a lot of problems in our house (plumbing that had to be moved and some asbestos), and fixed everything where other contractors would have charged an arm and a leg for. He does good work, but I think the thing he does best is the tile work- it is absolutely perfect.

He is a really nice guy, and easy to work with. We had some headaches (as you will with any big remodeling project), but I am really happy with the end result.

I cannot recommend Barney enough!!!  He is the owner of the company and a very good, very efficient and responsive worker at the same time.  I've had many bad experiences with other contractors before, and was so lucky to stumble upon Barney via Angie's list that from now on I am convinced I will only do business with him.  He's trustworthy, knows his trade, he's professional, responsive and just a pleasure to have him around.  If you want great service, great price and excellent quality, do yourself a favor and hire this company!

We met with Barney to receive an estimate to remodel our master bathroom. He was very professional and organized, showing us photos of his work which he had on his iPhone. He was very easy to work with and had no problem revising his estimate a few times to keep us within our budget.

The work was started a day late due to Barney running a little behind schedule, but he notified us in advance which gave me an extra day of prep time! He and his crew arrived bright and early the next day (much to my sleepy daughter and her friend's dismay) and began tearing out the old fiberglass shower. Our dogs were driving me crazy barking at them every time they'd go outside and come back in but it didn't seem to phase them. They kept saying they were fine. I even left several times leaving them alone with the dogs and returning to find everything running smoothly.

There were a few problems (such as the studs being 20" apart rather than the standard 12" - 16") and Barney had no problem readjusting the original plans to accommodate these unforseen glitches.

I was taken for a "walk through" of the finished product where I could ask questions and make sure I was satisfied before making the final payment. The work Barney and his crew did was beautiful!! I would definitely hire them again!

After being without a functional bathroom for several months, we called Barney to get an estimate for completing the bathtub tile installation that was done by a family member and then not finished (grouting hadn't been done). He came over quickly after we called him and gave us a frank and honest review of the tub work. He told us he really couldn't finish the job as there were so many mistakes. We were disappointed but could understand that he didn't want to be associated with poor quality work. Barney gave us what I considered a very reasonable estimate to take down all the tile work, level the walls, place new cement board, put up new tile around the tub and then complete the unfinished tile installation on the bathroom and closet floors.
Barney did the prep work in one day and we could see how it had been done improperly in the past. When our new tiles came in, he finished the job completely in 2 days. His workmanship is awesome. He is truly a craftsman who knows what he is doing and takes pride in his work! On top of that, he is punctual and a very nice person. It was a pleasure having him do this work for us. I only wish we had checked with Angie's List and found Barney BEFORE we let anyone else do any work... it would have saved us money and spared us a lot of grief. 

The job was done to completion within the specified time, about 1.5 days. Barney was an experienced professional. He answered my questions as he progressed through the job. He was timely and meticulous in his work. I would recommend Barney of Bakai Construction anytime!!!

I have no complaints. He was upfront with me with the price and how long it would take. The communication between me and him was great with no surprises. He made no mess and cleaned up everything when the job was complete. He is very detailed and takes his work very seriously and is always concerned with the finished result. He has great ideas and helped me decide on colors which I now love. Overall I am very satisfied and will have him back to do more work in my home. He does excellent work!

Barney is a true master of his trade. He has a lot of experience and takes each project very seriously. I am very happy with Bakai Construction and for sure will use Barney's services again in the future for every project that comes up in my house.

It was a pleasure to work with Bakai Construction! It made the whole remodeling process smooth and easy. We bought our house in 2009. The kitchen was a complet mess, that's why we hired Bakai Construction. We got so much more than just a tile replacement. We have been advised what kind of tile should we buy that would not just look good, but will be dourable and easy to maintain, what kind of granit countertop should we buy. The job was completed neatly and on-time. The hallway looks wonderful, the kitchen turned out to be exactly what I was dreaming about. The job started on-time, was performed neatly and completed on-time. Bakai Construction made recommendations regarding finishes and materials that worked out perfectly. The pitch of the shower floor made the draining very efficient and this minimized cleaning. In addition a marble step was added to the threshold which made a completely finished look. The material was all marble and it looked like a spa when it was completed.

The job went perfectly. The materials were excellent, the timing was perfect, the job was competed on-time and neatly. The finish work was beautiful. The attention to detail is amazing. We have used Bakai Construction in the past for a marble shower, same experience. I would strongly recommend.
