"The work completed by clink building was quoted in writing in the spring of 2004. The member called me in spring of 2005, i agreed to perform the work quoted one year earlier for the same price with no increase. I instructed the member we would begin work in 4 to 6 weeks pending the amount of precipitation in that time period. we started project on 6-12-2005 and were complete in one week. The member was very satisfied and paid clink building in full for a job well done. On or about 7-21-2005 or app 5 weeks later we received a phone call from the member indicating she found water on her floor after a heavy rain. I met with the member and observed the area in question. the area was underneath a pre-cast porch and i went over the entire contract step by step to further remind the member this area was not completed at her request and was not included in the original contract because of two trees she wanted to not have removed. Even after the exact measuring to verify this with her present she was impossible to deal with. I indicated for a fee of only $500.00 I would come back and move the steps away from the foundation and waterproof this area. She refused to agree and instead began writing letters of complaint to the B.B.B. and Building dept. in the community where she lives. I responded by meeting with her and an attorney and agreed to waterproof the area in question at no additional charge if she would be truthful in writing that the porch was not originally included and remove complaints against my company. Unfortunately i was unaware of a complaint on Angie's list or it would have been included . In summary the member was completely satisfied and we were paid in full until the porch area she elected not to do because the Achilles heel of this project. Unfortunately some people will go out of their way to avoid the truth. The member is that type of person. In the event she would have been truthful about this small area of waterproofing not being in the original contract and not being able to pay $500.00 in addition I would have completed the additional work at no charge to her thus avoiding this aggravation and waste of time. Respectfully submitted, Bill Clink President Clink Building Inc."
