After initially not showing on our scheduled day (same day as a snow storm) and calling 3 hrs after the fact, everything else went great. I had also asked for a crawlspace estimate which was very reasonable, I plan on doing that this spring. They initially estimated it would take an hour, they were there closer to 2.5hrs. I also asked them to remeasure the space for the attic once they were up there, and saved 50$ off the estimate, so something to keep in mind. The estimate measurements were done on the outside of the home, very rough estimates. I do plan on using them again once the weather warms up.

The two men arrived on the date scheduled and very much on time. They explained what they would be doing and asked if I had any questions after the explanation. They went about doing the insulation job and keeping me in the loop about what was going on. At the completion of the job they cleaned up all around the house. They came in the house and checked all of the electrical outlet and light switches on the outside walls to ensure everything was working.

After I was told it would cost an additional $700.00 to do remaining approx. 700sq feet of my house I decided I only wanted the 500sq feet I had already paid for. Contractor basically wanted me to purchase entire deal because he says he does not make any money on the $99.00, he pays this to Angie's list. Told him I am unable to do my entire house at this time. Called company in November to schedule for 500 sq feet insulation and was told they would call me back, My call was never returned. I Called again in December and they said they would come out on January 3. January 3rd came and went. Called again approx. one week after the 3rd after they missed the appointment and I hadn't heard from them. Basically was told they've been busy and they will get to it whenever they can. I just decided I would rather have a refund at this time. Gave a "D" instead of an "f" because they have never been rude, just not worth my time to keep calling them over this. I'm over this company, if I ever do decide to get insulation I will go elsewhere.

"We received a large response when we participated in the Angie’s List Big Deal promotion. Unfortunately, abnormally cold temperatures in the last few months has caused a great deal of scheduling conflict, leaving us in a position where ALL customers who had already been booked needed to be shuffled around and rescheduled, not to mention to a number of Big Deal customers that were still waiting for install dates. Our equipment simply will not work when it’s -20° outside, and we haven’t had a break from these temperatures yet. The Big Deal promotion is under no time constraint and we have been operating accordingly. To this date, we have installed for everyone that participated in the offer, unless they withdrew. We apologize to anyone we were unable to connect with in the time period they expected and to those that had to be rescheduled."

Updated review after service performed - initial review following:
- I heard from provider the day after my review and was scheduled for the next day.  They arrived on time and performed work agreed in a timely manner.

I have made three connection attempts via email to schedule - and spoken to a live person TWICE with request for call back to schedule service. Have had zero response and thus no service has still been scheduled.  First contact was 11/30 - most recent attempt was 12/17.
I was told all Angies List customers are handled by the owner and my call would be returned the next day. The person answering the phone was unable to answer questions related to it or help me any further.
If I ever hear back - I am willing to provide an updated review.

I was very pleased with the installation of insulation in my 2nd floor bedroom. The installation guys were extremely friendly and courteous. Rich explained to me what they would be doing and how. Afterwards, he showed and walked me through me exactly what they did. He even vacuumed up after the installation.

Every once in awhile a company has a customer where everything goes wrong. I am that customer. They never called to make the appointment as indicated in the offer so we called them. It took almost 3 weeks to get scheduled, changed the date and they did not show up. Rescheduled for later date and installers did finally show up. The contact, Steve, admitted he was overwhelmed. Apparently they took too much on with this offer. One of the installers, Ray, admitted to not having enough sleep, and went into great detail about his personal problems. He stopped to talk to our neighbor which delayed progress on our installation. They also did not have drop cloths with them so we loaned them blankets. We still had quite a mess to clean up.

Upon initial purchase of the deal, I was told I would be contacted within 2 business days to schedule an appointment. I was not contacted, so I took the initiative to reach out to them and schedule an appointment. During the first appointment, I was greeted with not a "Hello, how are you? Thanks for contacting us to perform this work." but rather a "Hello, I'm not sure how you purchased two of these deals. That wasn't suppose to happen."
So during the initial consultation, I filled out my paperwork and was asked when a good time to do the work might be. I stated that I was flexible as to when, but I wanted it done before the end of October. Seeing how my consultation was in September, I thought I giving them more than enough time to schedule something. He agreed... "Oh great, yeah we're trying to gang-up all the Angie's List jobs and do them on the same day. We'll get it scheduled before the end of October."
A week goes by. Two weeks. Then three weeks. I hadn't heard anything about when the work would be performed, so I called them. This being the third week in October now and they scheduled a date for me November 5... which is after the end of October.
November 5th arrives and I'm expecting them to arrive between 9:00 and 10:00 AM. No one shows, so I call the office. I was told that a they were unloading a truck and would be there "shortly." So I patiently wait until 11:45, when I receive a call from their office, this time the word was "A machine broke down on one of the trucks. We're switching trucks now and could be to your house around 12:30 - 12:45. Does today still work for you?" Since I have already taken the entire morning off, I said okay, sure... today still works for me. 12:45 comes and passes. I watch the clock strike 2:00, then 3:00, and finally, just when i'm about to give up on them, 4:00 PM, they arrive.
I will say, the men who showed up were very nice, professional, and did a great job. I do not hold them accountable for the lack of communication. They were clean, thorough, professional, and quick. Those two guys were the only positive thing I have to say about my experience with USA Insulation. Nothing else was worth the trouble...

Initially, Steve came out to assess the situation and determine what might be needed. He reviewed and then said that the office would contact me to schedule a time to complete the project. My only issue was that I didn't hear back from the office to schedule and I called back in to get that completed myself. I know they were busy with all the people who had purchased the Angie's List deal. Once scheduled, the gentlemen arrived on time as scheduled. They were both very friendly and helpful and got the job completed in a short time. They were very conscientious making sure that everything was done properly and they cleaned up after so that you'd never know they were ever there.
I would highly recommend USA insulation. They did a great job and left my house the way they found it - other than having plenty of new insulation in my kitchen area!

They never contacted me, I sent emails they did not respond, I had to call a few weeks after I purchased the deal and was told the owner would be out on Saturday to assess the job, and provide an estimate. He never showed and he is the owner and that explains it all.

The initial job quote included batting both hatches for ease of entry into the attic, which was written in the contract. The insulation was laid all the way from one side of the attic, across the hatch and tucked in on the other side of the hatch. This made it difficult to get into the attic for storage purposes.  USA Insulation was contacted that evening and informed that this was not what was explained and I was told another appointment would have to be made. I called and made an appointment for the following Wednesday evening. The tech was a no call/ no show that Wednesday evening. I called USA insulation and told them that the appointment was missed and was informed they would "try" to get someone out that Friday or Saturday.

I received a "Checking In" email from Angie's List on Monday to see if I needed assistance with anything and I decided to inform them that the job was not completed yet and I was having difficulty scheduling its completion. I was contacted by USA Insulation within an hour and they said they would like to get the issue resolved and another appointment was made for the following morning. The insulation technician showed up this time and moved the rolled insulation aside and secured it and paper backed insulation was glued to the hatch and the issue was resolved.

Overall, I got terrific value for the money and they eventually went above and beyond to resolve the issue. I would have rated all "A's" if the issue would have been resolved in a few days rather than a few weeks.

I would like to thank Angie's List for their excellent customer service and responsiveness to the issue. This was my first time using a contractor through Angie's List and I felt like a valued customer right off the bat! I have already purchased another "Angie's Deal" and I feel confident that I will receive great service with Angie in my corner.

This was not a great customer service experience. The first visit by their sales rep was odd. He arrived without a ladder and asked if we had one. What? The Angie's List big deal was for blowing insulation in the attic. If the need was to get in the attic why would one not have been brought. The man stood on one of our dining room chairs and looked at just a label on the attic door.  He tried to tell us we didn't need it as if he was trying to talk us out of it.  The man said someone who would call that day to set up the appointment. That did not happen. My husband had to call them.  We set up an appt two weeks out and the day before at 4pm they called to ask if they could move it to the next week as they could not get to all the homes that they had sold to.  I explained to the woman I wasn't happy and she reminded me that it was a good deal. Regardless of a good deal or not they were not providing good service We were not pleased but had no choice so moved to Monday at 8am. Monday 8am no one came or called.  I called them around 11am and was told the truck was delayed and they would be there today and offered 3 or 4pm.  I told the owner it was unacceptable to have an appt at 8 am and have no one call or show up. He agreed and reminded me that I was getting a good deal. I told him he was missing the point. He agreed to the deal with Angie's List per his own admission to help his scores with Angie's list; however not making appointments, not calling, rescheduling an appt at the last minute that was scheduled for two weeks and overall overpromising and underdelivering was not a great experience. He told me they'd get the job done that day and make sure it was done to my satisfaction. The team that came were fine, quick and professional. My husband was happy with that part. I received a call from the office staff "because Steve told me to call and tell you the job was done".  This company COULD be a lot better if they would get organized, focus on the customer, not over promise and obtain an office staff that is informed and trained on customer issues. The Deal was great. The Service and follow through was not.

I purchased a Big Deal for 500sq feet of insulation. Steve came out, looked in our attic and said we were already well insulated and that we didn't need to add insulation. He also mentioned that they could potentially negatively impact our "R" rating by getting into the attic and trying to install more.  It was great to see someone give an honest opinion and actually turn down work and not sell us something.

There was a bit of confusion on the appointment, but was resolved very easily.  I met with the owner and not only did I get the $99 for the first 500 sq ft of insulation, but because of purchasing the deal from Angie's list, the remaining amount was also discounted.  They came in at half of other estimates.  The owner was very friendly and pleasant to deal with.  I will update my review once the project is complete.

Overall we are very pleased with the outcome. A two man crew arrived and the lead man had the most experience. I was a little uncomfortable with the second guy, but he was under the direction of the lead worker. It was a little unnerving but it turned out well. Be prepared for noise. We have a brick exterior that they drilled into and there was a lot of dust and noise. The dust sifts into the house for a few days. I would advise someone to be clear in understanding how they are going to put the foam into the walls. Because the work may alter the look of their home. In our case it was not too bad. They make sure they match up the grout which was good. The representative was very knowledgeable and was able to give us an estimate on how much we would save on our heating bill. The results of having the insulation installed were fantastic. We noticed immediately that the insulation drowned out a lot of noise. When the cold weather arrived, we noticed immediately that the house was much warmer. We lived in this house for 6 years. Even our upstairs bedroom was warm. Our walls, doors, and windows were all much warmer. We even noticed a decrease in our energy bill for heating by a quarter or more. We noticed the same level of air distribution in the summer with the house overall being much cooler.

I only called based on Angie's List Big deal, 2 problems. 1st called earlier in the day left my phone number and name (twice in the message) and never received a call back. 2nd called the 800 number and was transferred to "my store". She didn't identify herself. She seemed very annoyed I was bothering her when I was asking questions about the Big Deal she didn't know what it said. Then asked for cost per sq ft to confirm the deal. $99 for a $500 value for 500 sq ft blown in insulation. $500 for 500 sq = $1 per sq ft. "No" she says "its normally $1.50 per sq ft". So either the deal is bigger than 80% off or they jack up prices after the first $500 sq ft. Which was not how the deal or the lady on the phone presented it. So is it $99 for a $750? Concerns me when "deals" are not clearly defined and/or seems to good to be true.

We were interested in a todays special listed by USA insulation last week. Before buying my husband spoke with the company as we were thinking it would require more work than the special allowed for. We had a free estimate and a very nice gentleman Emmett Greely came out and inspected our attic. He noted that we really did not need more insulation as by husband had thought and explained some of the ice issues we have in the winter are not caused by lack of sufficient insulation. We are so grateful for his honesty and professionalism- what a pleasure to find in this day and age! Be assured we will certainly be recommending this company to everyone we know who needs insulating services.

From the estimate to the actual work, I was impressed with everyone I came into contact with at USA Insulation. The estimator was straightforward, knowledgeable, and more thorough than the other company I had out to give me a quote.
The guys who did the job were patient with my questions and satisfied me with their explanations. They worked hard and finished everything in about six hours. They adequately prepared me for any after effects of the work (mostly the continued expansion of the insulation), and I was able to handle any spot cleanups that revealed themselves over the next few days.

The sales agent arrived about 5 minutes before I got home but my wife was able to explain our situation (which was not a big deal). When I came home, the agent was just finishing his demonstration of the products they provided, including adding insulation to the walls (something that we did not need). I asked my wife if she explained to him what we needed, and she thought she was clear with him, so I explained it again. The agent told us that adding insulation to the attic may give us a sense of comfort but what we needed was to have the walls insulated. Claiming since our house was build in 1979, there was very little insulation in the walls. I asked if he even looked closely at my house.
At this point, I just asked the agent to leave. He was wasting my family's time and was not listening to what I need or was not offering a product that we specifically needed.
A week later, we received a phone call from their USA insulation office, asking what would be a good time to come out to do the insulation. I asked the lady on the phone what she was talking about. She informed us that we were on the list to have wall insulated. At this point, I was anger. We never signed up or agreed for service with USA Insulation. I told the lady that there was never an agreement for service and if anyone from their company showed up at my house, the door would be closed on their face.  She apologized and would remove us from the list.
Response from USA Insulation of Columbus

"In response to the F rating you felt compelled to give our company, we are sorry you felt this way. We as a company consider ourselves experts in the insulation field for over 28 years. Our opinion is your choice to except our recommendation or not. In this case, your decision was not to use us and we were only following up on the bid, and as your response stated the woman working for us unintentionally took you off our list and apologies for following up. Given the AngiesList report was graded on not agreeing with our recommendation and not on service provided, we are asking to maybe reconsider the severity of the F. We take our AngiesList grading very seriously and we have supported the list since there 1st year in business as you well know is important for future business for us. My wife & I had seen USA Insulations booth at the Columbus, OH Home & Garden Show a couple years ago, we attended the Dayton, OH Home & Garden show in March of 2013, there we met Steve, the owner of USA Insulation, talked with him for awhile about his products, set a time for him to come to our home.  Steve arrived right on schedule, gave us an estimate of he thought we should do, quoted a price, explaned the financing options and was on his way.  My wife & I talked about it for awhile and called him to set a time to do the insulation work.  A time was scheduled to install the foam insulation the next Friday, Dean & his crew arrived on schedule, got right to work, did a great job and were on their way in less than 3 1/2 hours.  On Monday, they returned to spray foam insulation in my crawl space.

We have a Cape Cod style home and it has been drafty since we built it 20 years ago ( it is a modular style home). When Dean & his crew were pumping the insulation in the walls, Dean made the comment that he has done this for so long, that he can tell if the insulation in the walls meets the floor & ceiling, it did not in our home, no wonder we have had drafts all this time!  Our home is much quieter now, we live less than 1/4 mile from a state highway that has a lot of truck traffic, we have always been able to hear the trucks, no now!!!

I have already recommended USA Insulation to some friends.  My next door neighbor ask about the sign in the yard, "what did you have done?  I did not see anyone there, your house looks just the same"  I explained the process to him, he seemed to be impressed with the way it worked and was going to check out the website.

Update 1/30/2015, nearly 2 years after having the insulation done, now I am not a happy customer.  We have had some

exterior remodeling done as well as some interior, I have a contractor at my home now, replacing some OSB board that is bad (not from anything USA Insulation did), took the siding and styrafoam insulation off to replace the OSB, there is not enough foam insulation in the wall to fill a 5 gal bucket. Had the same experience when remodeling a room above garage and opened to the rest of the house.  Called USA then, they sent a guy out with a heat gun to see where we were missing insulation. Said there were no voids. Of course not, the walls are full of batting insulation and the foam did not compress the insulation as the videos and company say it will.  This insulation is only good for homes with no insulation or possibly new construction.  I would not recommend any one use this product in a home with the  batting insulation.  Our heating/cooling costs have not gone down, the noise level was down for a short time, but no just as noisy as before. One location that was opened in area where siding was removed, the foam insulation had turned to powder.  I would think that they should know how much of this foam it would take to fill each wall cavity, obviously this is not the case or my house would be better insulated.

Our ranch stucco house was very hot in the summer and chilly in the winter even though we had a new furnace and air conditioning unit and had new windows.
After researching various companies on the internet, we elected to call USA Insulation.
USA Insulation-Columbus/Cincinnati/Dayton - 5411 Franklin Street, Hilliard, OH 43026. (614)529-2440.
http://www.usainsulation.net/foam-insulation-Columbus/.  The website provided us with videos, plenty of FAQs and resources.
The experience with USA Insulation was excellent from initial contact to the crew pulling out of the driveway.
The change in our living environment is remarkable plus we have the 'peace of mind' knowing the foam is fire resistant. Initially, we noticed that things seemed more quiet - the noise reduction held true for our house.
There were no fumes that aggravated my asthma.
The air conditioner actually turns off during summer months (it ran almost 24/7 in the past) and the house now stays cool.  The furnace does not work as hard and the house stays nice and toasty - in fact, we had to readjust the programmable thermostat to a lower temperature - it was too warm in the house.
Even though we have been living in our "new environment" since August of 2011 -- we still talk about what a huge difference the insulation has made in our lives and comfort. What was most amazing to us was the difference in our natural gas consumption.  Here is an example:
The insulation was installed in August 2011.
Natural gas used Ccf's -- we realize weather and conditions play a role, but this is truly remarkable to us and even with the rising gas prices, we have saved money:
January 2010  =  139
January 2011  = 131
January 2012 = 41
January 2013 = 11
February 2010 = 154
February 2011 = 63
February 2012 = 3
February 2013 = 9
March 2010 = 94
March 2011 = 48
March 2012 = 29
Our only regret is that we did not call USA Insulation years and years ago !
Any negatives with USA Insulation you may ask. Honestly, that is a difficult question.  Everyone was polite, professional, eager to educate and eager to please.  OK I have a negative - the drilling  through the exterior of the house was loud....but I really don't think even USA Insulation can fix drilling noises but they did fix our comfort level and utility bills.
