The company was only interested in meeting the requirements of the warranty and not really helping us find a solution to our lackluster cooling in a recently purchased home. They were interested in trying to sell us an extensive system with a new furnace and a/c that cost around $8,000. And although our a/c system is too small for the size of our home there are other solutions to help fix the problem. The a/c is in good working condition.

Fast forward to Monday morning, 7:40am, I get a phone call from the tech. He stated he was on his way and would be there shortly, he also asked me to describe what was going on with the system and what problems I was having. He told me he would be right there and figure it all out for me. Less than half an hour later the tech arrived at my home and checked out the thermostat, we adjusted the temp. of the house to get the unit to kick on and see what was going on. We then went down into the basement and opened up the unit to see what was the matter, turns out it was a "blower cap" a capacitor which builds up a small charge to help get the motor started, as it was explained to me by the tech, he replaced the part put it back together and it is working fine. He also explained that the work carried a 30 day guaranteed which I didn't need to call the home warranty company on, just call Guaranteed directly explain what was going on, and they would send someone out to check it out.

I had a leak and had several companies that came out to try to find it. Guaranteed was the only company that was able to find it. It was nice that when they came out they informed me my coolant actually wasn't low this year! I will continue to use them for future service. The approximate cost listed is per year, which is very reasonable.

I notified my Home Warranty Company on Sunday that my furnace wasn't working. They assigned Guaranteed Heating and Cooling. The company called me that day to schedule an appointment on Monday between 8-4. Tom arrived at 8:15am that Monday. He had my furnace back up and running within an hour. He discovered carbon build up on the igniter and the ignition sensor as well as a stuck pressure valve and had all issues resolved quickly.

One of the questions Angie's list asks is "Would I hire the company again?" and for this company I said "YES", so I did. After using GUARANTEED HEATING AND COOLING to replace my blower motor I called the owner Ben and spoke with him about a vibration in the furnace that I had been experiencing for a couple years. The vibration was causing the flue pipe which goes from the basement, up through two floors and through the roof to vibrate and periodically rattle inside my walls. Ben told me over the phone that it had to be the blower wheel and he even "GUARANTEED" it. He scheduled his repairman (Tom) to come and replace it. The part was still under warranty on my 3 yr. old furnace but because they had just recently worked on my furnace Ben did not charge me for a service call, nor did he charge me the warranty handling fee. He merely charged me 1/2 hour for the labor. And guess what? My furnace no longer has a vibration and my walls are silent. Thanks Ben & Tom!!!

Once the weather turned colder, we tried the furnace. The blower motor would not work when turned to heat. We called Guaranteed again and the same workman came out. He discovered that he made a simple mistake of not wiring the heat to the new blower motor - he only wired the A/C. But after he left, the furnace still did not work properly. The blower motor would work, but the furnace cycles too quickly. It comes on for 30 seconds and goes off. Then 3 minutes later, it will do it again. We had the same workman from Guaranteed out again. Of course it was a warmer day, and he tested it at 80 degrees and said it seemed to work. He didn't do anything at that time since he said it wasn't doing it while he was there. But of course, once it got colder - it started doing the same thing. Because Guaranteed has been out 3 times and has failed to fix the problem, our home warranty company has sent us another company to deal with.

"DUE TO THE NATURE OF OUR BUSINESS IN WORKING WITH WARRANTY COMPANIES, WE UNFORTUNATELY WORK ON A LOT OF OLD SYSTEMS. THE WARRANTY COMPANIES WANT THEM REPAIRED - NOT REPLACED. SO WE MAY GO OUT ONE DAY AND FIND THE MOTOR IS BAD. THEN MAYBE WITHIN A MATTER OF DAYS THE UNIT IS OUT AGAIN AND WE FIND THE IGNITER IS BAD. IN ADDITION, IF A UNIT APPEARS TO BE WORKING WHEN WE ARRIVE AND WE DON'T SEE THE PROBLEM THE CUSTOMER IS REFERRING TO, UNFORTUNATELY WE DO NOT HAVE THE TIME TO STAND AROUND AND WAIT FOR THE UNIT TO ACT UP. CONVERSELY, IF THE WEATHER IS NOT CONDUCIVE TO CHECKING OUT A UNIT - AS YOU STATED IT WAS AN 80 DEGREE DAY AND YOU WERE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE FURNACE - THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO BUT COME BACK ANOTHER DAY WHEN THE WEATHER IS FAVORABLE. WE DON'T FEEL THE ABOVE ASSESSMENT IS FAIR AS WE ARE NOT SURE WHAT THE LAST PROBLEM REALLY WAS. WE ARE SORRY YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH OUR COMPANY AS WE TRY VERY HARD TO KEEP THESE UNITS RUNNING AND OUR CUSTOMERS HAPPY."

HVAC Tech responded to a/c unit not working. He fixed the problem which was a blocked line. The unit is in a condo that I rent to my son. Its A/C unit is on the roof but the tech found the problem in the lines, not in the actual A/C unit and he fixed it without having to climb to the roof.

The initial visit required a new motor for the exhaust fan. After the motor was installed, the system failed to cool. A simple adjustment to raise the fan solved the problem. Since GHC guarantees their word for six months, there was no charge for this call.

Our furnace stopped forcing air during the early morning hours on a very cold January night. With a three year old at home, we could not wait to get the furnace fixed. A friend had recommended Guaranteed and described the owner, Ben Dunigan, as a real honest person, who would do good work, at a good price. When we called, Ben sent Mike over to our house. Mike almost immediately identified the problem, had a spare motor on hand and fixed the furnace in less than 30 minutes. Mike was very courteous and professional, answered all our questions about the furnace and did not object to us watching while he completed the work.

During July & August our A/C continually malfunctioned. After calls to the warranty company, Guaranteed continually came out & got the system up and running, though another component would always fail causing the system to malfunction. Despite the numerous other customers without A/C, Guaranteed always came out to service our system. Eventually, we grew tired of the malfunctions and decided to replace the entire system as it was old anyway. Guaranteed installed a new Carrier Infinity 96 Furnace, a 13 Seer Carrier A/C condenser, and a new Carrier humidifier in our home. Along with this we received a 10-year parts & labor warranty on the entire system. Guaranteed was professional and timely with the installation. I believe that we could've gotten a high efficiency, name brand system for less than $6200, but with a baby & the heat, we couldn't shop around. I didn't want to start over with another contractor, when Guaranteed has always been available & professional with their work.

Great experience. Guaranteed was sent to me by First American Home Warranty a couple of years ago for another furnace issue. They provide such good service that I kept them as my primary HVAC contact. When one of their technicians was performing an AC tune-up he noticed that I was low on freon. I told him that the freon was filled a year ago by Ben, and he said that I likely have a leak in my coil due to the age of my system. I contacted First American and they were going to send Airfast Heating & Cooling to my home, but after seeing the Angie's List reports on them I called First American and demanded that they not send Airfast. I requested that they send Guaranteed because of the known relationship from the original request. After informing First American of Airfast's problem reports, they graciously made the switch and sent Guaranteed to replaced my coil. Ben and the technicians are always professional and knowledgeable. I will continue using them for my HVAC needs.

I WAS INFORMED THAT PRESSURE WAS HIGH AND THAT THE COIL WAS GOING BAD. HE SAID THAT A COIL WOULD BE ABOUT $500.00 (PARTS AND LABOR). HE ADVISED THAT I KEEP USING THE AIR CONDITIONING AND NOT REPLACE UNTIL IT COMPLETELY BROKE.
