They have independent people to install the water heater. When you walk into the store there is somebody who knows what they are talking about. They were able to help me find the right product. They did a great job. They came out and hauled the old water heater away and installed the new one. It did not take a long time and they didn’t leave any mess around.

I went in to buy doors that were qualified for the energy tax credit and the doors that I bought did not qualify for the energy tax credit. The installer had an answer for everything, I was reading the installation instructions and they said that when the door was properly installed and balanced you could open it and it would stay put, he said that he couldn't do that to my doors because the walls in my house weren't straight. I said that's why you do the adjustments. Anytime I asked him about something he wasn't going to do it because of some kind of impracticality. I don't think that he was interested in installing them to customer satisfaction.

It went great. Our old washer died and could not be revived. We found a model we liked on-line at Home Depot, then called to order it from our local Home Depot. They recommended another model which was a better value, so we bought that. They delivered and installed it the next day and took away the old machine, leaving us the parts we wanted to use for planter. Very nice, very efficient, very helpful.

We purchased a new entrance door with sidelights and the door that was shipped was defective. The installers brought out the door anyway, and if we hadn't complained, they would have installed it. We asked the installer if it was his house, would he install it?--he admitted that no, he would not. So we ordered a new door and a few weeks later the crew installed it, but did a poor job, with overall second-rate work (e.g. screw heads showing where they should not be, door rubbing in frame). We had to redo the lock because the strike plate didn't line up quite right. Home Depot may use different subcontractors, but we sure weren't happy with this one.

The sub contractor came and installed the new carpets. They did not vacuum the mess and did not install back a two feet long piece of 1/4 round. I asked them to nail back the 1/4 round, they said that they don't have finish nails, I offered the nails because I have them in stock and all they need just two nails, they refused to do it. I called Home Depot to complain, their response was that is not in the contract unless I pay $1 per linear foot which is I could pay the $2 if the sub contractor asked for it. I paid $2500 for new carpets I could afford $2 if they asked for.

Overall, good experience. Home Depot assisted with the design and installation of new cabinets, flooring and countertops.

The installers were here on time (they were early actually, and waiting for me at my house). The main worker was great (he was also the measurer) and very personable. They did a nice job with the install. All remnants of their work was gone form my yard. They did leave a lot of finger marks all over my new door but it isn't a big deal. The work seems to be well-done and we are very happy.

We used Home Depot two years ago for siding and windows - a big job. It went fairly smoothly (not perfect) so we decided to try them again for a fence because I thought it would be a 'professional' experience. I called and set an appointment for March 20th. They "lost" my appointment. I called and scheduled another one for the 27th. The local guy called me back and was a little rude, saying in so many words "I don't want to come out if it's not worth my time and you are getting another quote" so he said he's pencil me in and I said no, I wanted to have an actual legit appointment. We rushed out of work to get home for our second appointment to find a message at home saying they would have to reschedule (same day Cancellation). I called the number that was left and there was no answering machine or anything. This coupled with my doubts about the legitimacy of some siding charges has caused me to conclude that we will no longer use the services of Home Depot.

Okay. The folks on the information line won't talk to you until you've decided exactly which door you want based on information on the manufacturer's website. Once you've done that, Home Depot's garage installation people can work out an estimate quite quickly. Their estimate was significantly higher than the other two contractors, and HD offered a lower quality door opener than the others.

I had to call the subcontractors back because a couple of things were not done right, but they came right in to fix it and it looks very good now!

I'm sure there are lots of people who know how to work through Home Depot, but we found it a bit overwhelming. There simply wasn't enough available staff to spend time with us answering our questions. What we did learn is that we don't know a thing about replacing doors and that you have to know what you are doing before you go to Home Depot.

Awful experience. We wanted new carpet and flooring in a rental condo. The staff was usually never in, and when they were, it took 3-4 hours to eventually get the order right. They promised one install date initially, but didn't end up installing it through their sub-contractors until 3 weeks later. They made me haul the wood flooring, caulk, etc. to the unit... which I thought was wrong. When we ordered a piece of remnant to go in one bedroom, they sold the same remnant to someone else before the install. Even though I called to check on the remnant piece two weeks before the install, they still messed it up. The installing contractor had to make 2 visits to finish the job. I was not happy with their numerous hidden charges on invoice, incompetence, and lack of availability. You have to look at the invoice very carefully, too. Hidden charges and add-ons are plentiful.

I was very pleased with the carpet sellers at Home Depot, with the quality of the carpet, and with the installation and the installers. In contrast to other carpet salespeople, the folks at Home Depot did not pressure me to buy, and they answered my many questions. Their carpet samples contain enough information that I could compare brands and products. I did not find that to be the case at the many other stores where I looked for carpet. I was so pleased with this experience that later in the summer I carpeted the remainder of the house with carpeting from Home Depot and with installation by the same crew. Also differentiating Home Depot from other carpet sellers was a very detailed set of prices. I knew exactly what products and installation services were to be provided and how much each cost.

On April 5, 2006 I placed a special order for a new toilet. The salesperson said the toilet would arrive in 2-3 business days. On April 10th, the toilet did not arrive. When I inquired at the store, I was told the told would be in by Friday, 4/14. Still no toilet on 4/14. To make a long story short, the toilet arrived on 4/20. At that time the store person said the toilet come in on 4/12 but had to be returned due to damage. Nobody bothered to call and tell us there would be a delay in shipment. My contractor asked if the toilet would be discounted due to the delay. The answer was, this is not our fault, it's the manufacturer who is at fault. While I understand delays can happen, Home Depot's service is unacceptable. I will NEVER place a special order at Home Depot again. I will also tell everyone never to place a special order with them.

I asked who to contact if I had questions, & she said she wasn't allowed to give out the phone number. I did not hear from anyone about installation by noon on Monday (I placed the order on Sunday evening), so I called Home Depot. Liz answered the phone, & referred me to plumbing, who gave me the number for Crawford, their subcontractor. Crawford had not received my order. They took care of getting it from Home Depot, but it was after their "same day" cutoff, & was going to be subject to an extra charge. I called Home Depot to have them make things right by taking care of the charge (since the tardiness of the order was their fault), & eventually they did, but Crawford had to call me to say it was taken care of. I did not hear back from Home Depot, nor did they apologize at any time. When the heater was installed, I found it had a much lower energy efficiency rating than was advertised, which is also irritating, if not illegal.

RON SHOTTS AND SHIRLEY WERE A DREAM TO WORK WITH IN THE SAWMILL RD. HOME DEPOT CARPET DEPARTMENT. THEY WERE VERY CONSCIENTIOUS OF DETAILS. WE WERE PREPARING TO MOVE INTO OUR NEW HOME, SO ALL ORDERING AND MEASURING WAS SCHEDULED AND DONE LONG-DISTANCE. THEY WERE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE OUR NEEDS AND COMPLETE THE WORK IN JUST OVER A WEEK WITH OUR 1ST CHOICE OF CARPET THAT THEY HAD IN STOCK. THE TWO MEN WHO DID THE INSTALLATION WERE ALSO VERY POLITE AND WORKED HARD TO ACCOMMODATE OUR TIGHT SCHEDULE. THEY EVEN NOTED PART OF THE CARPETING ON THE STAIRS THAT REQUIRED BINDING, AND MADE SURE THAT WAS DONE AND INSTALLED BEFORE OUR MOVERS ARRIVED. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME WE HAVE USED HOME DEPOT FOR OUR CARPET NEEDS IN NEW HOMES, AND HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED EACH TIME.

THOUGHT I WAS BUYING A GE HEATER BUT THE INSTALLER SHOWED UP WITH A RHEEM. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF RHEEM ON THE WEB SITE OR ON THE PHONE WHEN I CALLED TO MAKE THE PURCHASE. HOME DEPOT DID EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO LIFETIME VERSUS 12 YEARS AS LISTED ON THE HOME DEPOT WEB SITE. THE $800 INCLUDED INSTALLATION.

WE PURCHASED THE DOOR AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS IN STOCK. IN FACT, THE SALESMAN SHOWED US THE BOX CONTAINING OUR DOOR. THEY SENT THEIR INSTALLER OUT TO MEASURE AND THEN THEY CALLED TO SET UP THE INSTALLATION APPOINTMENT. THEY THEN CALLED TO DELAY THE INSTALLATION BY A DAY. ON THE DAY IT WAS TO BE INSTALLED, I GOT A CALL FROM THE INSTALLER THAT THE DOOR WAS NOT THERE. APPARENTLY, THEY SOLD IT AGAIN AND LET SOMEONE TAKE IT AWAY. IT TOOK SEVERAL CALLS TO GET THIS STRAIGHTENED OUT BECAUSE BEVERLY (THE PERSON WHO IS SUPPOSED TO COORDINATE INSTALLATIONS) IS NOT GOOD AT RETURNING CALLS OR FOLLOWING UP AS SHE PROMISED. I HAD TO CALL THE DEPARTMENT HEAD AT HOME DEPOT AND GET HIM TO HELP ME FIND A DOOR IN ANOTHER STORE. THEY EVENTUALLY FOUND ONE AND IT WAS INSTALLED ABOUT A WEEK LATE. THE INSTALLATION WAS GOOD, BUT THE INSTALLER DIDN'T CLEAN UP AFTER HIMSELF. I HAD TO CLEAN UP DRILL SHAVINGS, ETC. I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN, BUT I WOULD BE PREPARED TO CAREFULLY CHECK UP ON THEM AND TAKE NAME
