DUBLIN BUILDING SYSTEMS CO

Within a few weeks after moving in we noticed that our drains were not draining properly,the toilets were not flushing, and the sinks were making gurgling sounds. From time to time there was forceful backflow coming up through the sink drains.Dublin Building Systems sent their plumbing subcontractor to the building several times to unclog the drains and try to figure out the problem. By December 5 their plumbers had come out about 5 times to unclog the system. We had not even been in the NEW building for 2 months. They explained to us that the reason the drains did not function properly was because we did not have a tenant in the other side of the building producing drainage also, so they installed a device in the vacant side of the building that would cause drainage water from the vacant space to flow. We were ok with the premise of their explanation, but told them we needed a more permanent solution if the problem resurfaced once we had a tenant next door. They assured us that once we had a tenant there would be no drainage problems. The space remained vacant until December of 2013. Within 2 weeks our toilets stopped flushing and our sinks would not drain. This time we hired our own plumbers from 2 separate companies for independent expert opinions and learned that the type of connection Dublin Building Systems used passed code but was designed poorly and should have been changed since it did not function as a credible drainage design. As it turns out there are other buildings of similar design in this professional complex constructed by Dublin Building Systems that have undergone the same types of problems. We also were told by the Delaware Regional Sewer District that Dublin Building Systems tapped into the Delaware Sewer system illegally with no permission, permit, or inspections. We called Tom Irelan, President of Dublin Building Systems who said he would get back to us, but "it's hard getting everyone from Dublin Building Systems together with their busy schedules". That was over two months ago.Still waiting. We can understand mistakes happen. What we can't understand is how a company can create a design that has caused raw sewage to backflow out of the sinks, create a flood from the toilets, and then act like innocent bystanders and not address the problem that they caused in the first place.In addition we have had several roof leaks, and at one point we were collecting gallons of water each day from breaches in the roof where rainwater and condensation from the HVAC were coming through. Luckily we found another company to solve the problem of the water coming through from above. I really did expect Dublin Building Systems to stand behind their work.They don't. This has been a highly disappointing experience.
