LTC CUSTOM CARPENTRY

Description of Work: We did a complete remodel of our basement, including tearing everything out. Andy gave a very complete estimate of what needed to be done. His suggestions of the best way to do the project were welcomed and I am glad that I went along with them. In addition to redoing floors, walls, ceiling, etc. he had to properly plumb a basement shower. This involved drilling the concrete floor and he did a great job keeping the dust involved confined to the basement. We also installed an access window to replace the regular basement window. This involved removing part of the foundation walls and, again, the mess was kept to a minimum. The resulting window is very attractive. As with any remodel project we ran into some problems. We discovered a leakage problem in one spot. Fixing this problem involved a lot of digging, hauling dirt and gravel. The additional charge for all of that work was very reasonable. I now refer to our basement as our lower level suite. It exceeded my expectations. Part of the work was done while we were away. I had no qualms about giving him a key. The neighbors said that he actually worked on Saturdays while we were gone!

Description of Work: We had an old Pella window unit in our dining room which was rotting out. Andy dismantled it and rebuilt it so that it is now more like an actual addition to the house. I was concerned about being left with no windows or roof overnight but they removed everything and had us "weathered in" by the end of the day. This included replacing a glass skylight roof with a real roof, and framing for the windows and putting the windows in. We got our estimate in January and discussed staring the job on April 9th. We received an e-mail from Andy about 10 days before the start date, confirming that he would start the job. I didn't have to contact him to remind him. They put up plastic sheeting to keep the dust, etc. out of the house and cleaned up each day. The job was completely finished on 4/18. We had to wait a couple of days for the painter which was okay with us. Everything looks great. We chose Andy because he was recommended by Pella since he does contract work for them. We felt that someone who knew how the unit was constructed would be best able to do what we wanted. And he did!
