Description of Work: My first experience with Angie's List... My home was in need of chimney caps because of raccoons looking for a place to stay during the winter. The company seemed very helpful and eager to install 2 caps. The person doing the installation took care to check that no animals were in the chimney before he attached the caps. He bragged how the particular caps could withstand hurricane force winds. I figured this would be money well spent and was very happy with how the caps looked. Two weeks ago I noticed one of the caps was laying in the side yard. It was in place the day before and there had been very little wind later that evening. I was puzzled and disappointed... I called the company to ask if they could have someone reinstall the cap. I was told that because of rain, that they were running a little behind schedule, but could have someone out to my house in a few days. I understand that weather can wreck havoc on construction schedules, but have tried to contact the company twice through their web site and called 3 times to hear that the mailbox is full and I can not leave a message. Keeping my fingers crossed that things get better!

Description of Work: MVC replaced 2 sections of my chimnneys liners, replaced approx the top 4 feet of brick facade (I had replacement brick on hand) and replaced the chimney cap with a totally new concrete cap. They showed up when scheduled and performed the work agreed upon and the quoted price. Had a hard rain couple week after repair and no leaks occurred in bsmt at chimney base, success. Thanks MVC

 + 1 moreThey were superb and they were very good. Miami Valley Chimney Inc. was little expensive than the other service provider we interviewed. We had no other way other than Angie’s List and another company to go by because nobody knew whom to use. Angie’s List had come in very handy and many of our neighbours joined just because I dealt with all these contractors and it’ a good way of contacting them. Miami Valley Chimney was more expensive but they were extremely professional. They were prompt and I think they did a great job. Some companies would use the waterproofer for the chimney that would not breathe or that would damage the roof. That is why we had it done before the roof went on. In terms of price, they were more than the second choice we had and our insurance company gave us $500. To do the replacement, I presented the insurance company with the two bids that I had from reputable contractors and I explained why our chimney was going to cost more, they completely covered it. If I want a cheaper chimney job, I won’t go with them. They had to really work hard with us because we wanted them to come within a very little time frame and we got the last chimney parts, everyone was running out of parts because of the storm damage.
Description of Work: We used the services of Miami Valley Chimney Inc. The last time I used their services was two weeks ago. With hail damage to our stone faced chimney, they had to replace the chase cover, which had to be custom set and built. Then they replaced both the gas fireplace duct and then a wood burner duct. They had replaced the topping for both of those. We have a very steep roof and lot of people said they won’t even come and look at our roof because it is too steep. We also did water proofing. We paid extra for that. It was about $1500 for the insurance covered repairs and the waterproofing was $200, which we paid extra for, it was unrelated. We used silicox waterproofing for the chimney.

 + 1 moreThey did a great job. They were very professional and tidy. They were very concerned about not making a mess even though I told them not to bother because we have kids. They were a team of 3 people and I was really impressed with them. They seemed to really know their stuff and they seemed to know a lot about their materials. They were very knowledgeable. They did a really good job overall. They took the time to explain to me about what they were doing and why. They explained to me as to what was usual and not usual with any chimney construction. We had to open a wall up for them to do the work. We found some interesting things that happened 100 years ago. They took the time to talk to me about chimneys. They told me what is good and what isn?t. I would use their services in the future too.

Description of Work: Mr. Eggert did repair work on my chimney. (Five contractors had been paid prior.) I called Mr. Eggert back to tuckpoint around my downspout. He stated that the tuckpointing was not that bad. He stated that my problem was rust on the downspout hidden underneath. Mr. Eggert said that he could tuckpoint, but it would not solve the problem. He told me to put my money in new gutters and downspouts, and not to have him tuckpoint. I appreciated his authenticity. He was a very nice man. There was no charge for his trip.
