"I have spoken to the on call Technician, apparently an attempt was made to reach you on Saturday, and a message was left. I believe you spoke with the Technician on Sunday as well and for whatever reason you didn't want service at that time. I apologize if you feel our response rate wasn't satisfactory, we have since added some procedures to help speed up the process on the weekends and after-hours. I'm not saying we are perfect but we do our best to be responsive. I would be happy to offer you a voucher for a no-charge tune up. "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I spoke with our technician who visited your home in May. We took the time to review the notes he made. He determined there was a leak due to the absence of refrigerant in the system. Our pricing model include set pricing and a leak can be expensive to fix depending on the component that may need to be replaced. This would be found through a leak search which did not occur. There may have been some confusion about the price due to the fact that you were quoted for a complete replacement AC unit. Commonly, when a customer is faced with a major repair on an older unit, we like to also provide them with a quote for a new AC as well in case they would like to use this time as an opportunity to upgrade prior to incurring maintenance off. I saw that he even noted special discounts off the purchase price given your situation. I regret that this miscommunication occurred. I think it is a co-op service providers to provide emergency service. They have set prices for everything.
$89 for diagnostic fee (even though we told him the model number and what was wrong) we were paying for someone to bring the part that was not available at the hardware store.
$156 for the repair, replace, and repair fee. He took the old one out and put the new one in. Nothing extra. Nothing more.
I would call them again for emergency service but check around if I had time. They returned our call within an hour and set an appointment time the next day (our preference).
