I can make appointments. I don't have to wait for my car, I can schedule it. They are very honest and good. As a woman, I feel very comfortable going there and feel like they are being truthful. They aren't trying to pull one over on me. They always call before they do the work and there are never any surprises. I have been going there for 10 years and they are an excellent company. They are the only ones that we go to.

They are fantastic!. We actually went to them due to the reviews on Angie's list. You will not be disappointed. The only thing is that they are so good that they are super busy and it may be awhile before they can get to you. It is worth the wait. If you think something is wrong that is not wrong, they will tell you it is not wrong and not fix it. Other places may fix it anyway and you wouldn't know the difference. I thought my clutch was going out. They drove it around, checked everything, called me back and told me it wasn't, and to just come pick up the car. I don't know any other shop that would do that. We only deal with them now. In fact, we ask them for recommendations for other things like body work.

They called me back promptly with a quote. I called back and scheduled the service. We dropped my car off the night before the scheduled service. They were finished by 11:00 am. We picked up the car after work. The price was as promised. Everyone was friendly and thorough. Only thing to note is that they are only open until 5. I think this assures they keep quality mechanics though.

It was a good experience; we were pleased with it. They are very pleasant and called us told us what it's going to be before they started anything. He was willing to get used parts, if that is what we wanted, because it is cheaper instead of using new parts which cost a lot more. They were honest and did a good job.

They are great with price. All of their mechanics are ASE certified. They do work that is needed. The best story I have about them is that, we have a 2006 Honda Odyssey and the brake pads were going warmer as we were going long trips. So we had to have our brake pads replaced but the guy said that the brake pads were still good and still had life on them. He also said it would last another 100,000 miles. Then he charged me only $20 for that. So unlike other mechanics that are overly eager to replace anything that you talk about, these guys don’t replace anything unless it needed. I have a 2008 dodge avenger and I was thinking of doing new tune-ups but they were not even tuning it because they said it was not time for it. They follow their manufacturer’s facts to the letter. One of our daughters tore off the right side mirror and I knew that if I took it to the dealership I would be overcharged. Then the guys said bring it down here and he would do it. Then he charged us like $350 to do that. We trust these guys. You make an appointment, they get it right on time and they charge you a very fair price and they don’t keep you waiting. They are the best place to go to.

After being pushed to do over $1,000 in repairs at a Monroe shop for a leaking engine gasket and faulty struts, the car was taken to East David Auto to confirm the necessity of these repairs. The tech said that there was either a small or no gasket leak and the struts, while aged, didn't need to be replaced at this time.

I recently moved back to Kettering after 25 years away, so I joined Angie's List knowing I would need many new service providers. My SUV had been feeling like something was "rubbing" whenever I turned the wheel. It's an older model and you know how they can begin to cost you a fortune to maintain -- so I was really worried this would cost me a lot. I chose East David Automotive due to the reviews on Angie's List and the close proximity to my home. I left the car there on Tuesday evening in advance of the Wednesday appointment. I received a very time appropriate call from the shop before noon advising the problem had been determined and I needed a Hyundai replacement part -- which E David Automotive had already checked on & was in stock - they could get the part today. They also told me exactly what the cost would be for the parts & labor. The price was very reasonable. I asked when the car would be ready & was told it would be ready late afternoon. Also, I told them I didn't have a ride to come pick up the car so I didn't know when I could get there -- to my delight, they were willing to pick me up since I was no more than 2 miles away. I received a call around 3pm saying the car was ready & he would be over soon to pick me up. The mechanic was there within 15 minutes. He was very professional yet friendly as well. The car was running great. We drove back to the shop, I paid my bill, and was home by 4pm. It was a great experience -- prompt, friendly, reasonably priced, professional service ! What a great first impression -- I will definitely take my car back to East David Automotive in the future !

So... we were very happy with EDA's honesty and forward thinking business mentality (not charging us for the evaluation) We will send our repairs their way in the future.
Description of Work: AC went out in our SUV. Friends and neighbors recommended East David Automotive from years of good service. EDA is was very busy, so we had to wait a week for an appointment. I guess that was a good sign that they are popular and probably do good work. They evaluated our vehicle told us that there was a hole in a refrigerant line that goes to the back AC unit. They tested it by blowing compressed air into the line. (I guess large SUV's have two AC units). Unfortunately, the required repair was to lift the body from the frame to get at the line. This was a very expensive solution. EDA said that they did not have the equipment to do this, and that we would unfortunately have to go to the dealer. We were not charged for the evaluation and were grateful for their honesty. We did go to the dealer, who told us the same thing, but offered the option of capping off the refrigerant line and not using the back AC unit. This option was ~$800 once all was done (vs. $3000 to do a full repair). We required a new refrigerant tube. The correct tube was no longer available for our 2002 GMC Envoy, so a similar one was used. They then had to weld the tube shut at a second location.

Short version: The only real catch is that these guys always have a scheduling backlog of a couple days. $80/hr labor seems steep until you consider the alternative to a reliable mechanic is a car loan. They won't do stuff your car doesn't need, and if it acts up after a service, they'll check it out for free even if the new problem wasn't their fault. Excessive detail: My '03 Focus's A/C went from squeaking loudly to totally nonfunctional in the middle of July. I diagnosed it as a bad compressor, decided I didn't have the time or tools to replace it myself, and found these guys through angieslist. I scheduled an appointment, dropped it off, and got a callback later that morning saying that I didn't actually need a new compressor yet, just a new fuse for the clutch. When I went to get the car, I was told that the compressor was on its last legs, making it difficult to turn, but that I didn't really need to replace it just yet because I could just keep replacing that fuse every time it blew until it stopped working entirely. They said I could probably find a breaker that would reset itself instead of constantly replacing that fuse, but they weren't sure where. They charged me for half an hour of labor and sent me on my way. I went through a 10-pack of fuses before I found a place that carried the breakers. The breaker lasted about as long as the 10-pack before it burned out. Five fuses later, it got to the point where the fuse would blow the instant I started the car every single time. By this time, East David had effectively bought me a month and a half of time to save up for the new compressor. I went back to have the compressor replaced. Replacing the compressor on a car is a frustrating ordeal, as it's deep in the engine and connected to all the coolant pipes. The car has 190,000 miles on it, so I figured it was as good a time as any to have the timing belt, serpentine belt, spark plugs and water pump replaced, since they pretty much had to take the car apart anyway. Somehow, they had the car for one day and got all that done. Except the water pump. When I got the callback, they told me my water pump is motor driven rather than belt driven, so the usual wisdom of replacing the water pump when you replace the timing belt didn't apply. I didn't know that about this car, so they passed up what would've been an easy opportunity to get paid for doing something unnecessary. I paid the bill and drove off with a perfectly functional air conditioner and no other discernible problems. I took a Saturday later to install an aftermarket stereo that could play MP3 CDs. That seems irrelevant, but it's not. Keep reading. The next big trip I took with this car was to pick up my grandmother from the Cleveland area. On the way home, I missed an exit and ended up driving through downtown Columbus to get back to the highway I needed. I hit a bad bump in a construction zone, and the car stalled. I tried to start it again, and luckily it happily roared back to life and continued functioning normally. Before I had gotten back off the surface streets, the car stalled three more times. Each time it stalled right when the air conditioner kicked on, and each time it restarted as though there were nothing wrong. When I got it home, I popped the hood and determined that my air filter was clogged with crap. I bought a new one, and after installing it noticed that the air hose was just sitting on the injector's intake. It's possible that East David didn't tighten the hose clamp enough, but it's also possible that I pulled it loose while trying to get to the filter. With the new filter, the stalling continued on and off, apparently at random, so I took it back in. I got the callback at about 2PM saying they'd driven it around the block all morning and couldn't make it stall. I went over there and had them idle it in the parking lot for about three minutes with the AC on, and it stalled when the compressor kicked in. The mechanic (whose name I wish I could remember; it's always been the same guy) spent another twenty minutes experimenting with it and his little diagnostic computer before concluding that I was idling too low. He sprayed a can of cleaning fluid into my injector and changed my idle speed from 600-ish to 700 RPM. I had, at best, circumstantial evidence that it might've been their fault. After a day of trying to reproduce my problem, I walked away without paying a dime. That didn't actually fix the problem, but it made it a lot less frequent. After the adjustment, I couldn't reliably make it stall. It just sometimes would at random times--even times when the idle speed couldn't possibly be the issue (like accelerating out of an intersection). East David had this car twice more. Both times, the mechanic and I worked together and couldn't find a way to make it stall. Again, no charge. Later, I was driving and listening to an MP3 CD on my new radio when the car stalled and immediately restarted itself. (I was going fast enough for the transmission to turn the engine and effectively give itself a pushing start). When the car stalled, the radio lost its mind and had to reload the CD. That was the piece of evidence I needed to figure out the stalling was an electrical problem. I bought a new battery, and as I was removing the old one I found the problem: When I installed the stereo, I forgot to re-tighten the positive battery lead. So I effectively got three days worth of free diagnostic work from East David for something that was my own *censored* fault to begin with. After this whole experience, the car runs like new, the A/C works beautifully, and I know where to take the car if it does something I can't fix.
