I've used Airtron for the last 35 years. They did what they said they were going to do. They did it in the time they said it would be. They cleaned up everything and did the job perfectly.

Lost Our Trust - Lost Our Business Fan motor went out on a 6 year old Carrier AC we'd bought from Airtron & that they've serviced. It broke on an unseasonably warm & humid Monday in April. Airtron was responsive an accommodating in scheduling the service call but it took them 2 hours to diagnose the problme. The unit was hot & smoking yet the rep was puzzled as to the source. I suggested the general area from which the heat/smell were coming, from there, he figured it out. In his defense, he said he had never repaired a Carrier fan motor. He called Carrier, said the part was under warranty and est. repair would take about 2 hours & cost ~$365. Since Airtron was closed, he said they'd call back the next morning to confirm the quote and schedule the repair. The next morning, he called back & told me Airtron said he was wrong. The part was not under warranty, revised the estimate to $711. He also said Airtron was also offering a sales consult for a new unit. I asked why we'd need to replace a 6 year old unit and he said, now that the fan motor broke more things were likely to break and given the cost to repair we might want to buy a new unit. My husband called Kenny the service manager. Kenny quoted +$760 for the repair (I think the difference was tax). They negotiated the price to ~$625 & Airtron offered to make the repair on Saturday (5 days after the initial appt). We explained that we were leaving town on Saturday and needed the repair before we left. They refused to accommodate. We felt stuck and I unhappy. I called another HVAC company. That company called Carrier, THE PART WAS UNDER WARRANTY!!! They got the part & fix the unit the next morning. He showed me the broken motor, and that a defect caused the arching/burning and said Carrier would not have an issue in taking it back. The repair took less than an hour; total repair cost = $150. I'm not saying Airtron lied. I'm saying, BUYER BEWARE! In my opinion, Airtron failed to standby the air conditioner they recommended and sold us, their service record (as they were my sole & trusted service), and they charge a lot to fix things. Last fall they replaced a part on our 7-8 year old furnace, it cost +$800 (Note, the part cost ~$275 on Amazon). Now I wonder, how much was I overcharged?

This crew of Mike B. and Dave B. are top notch! In less than 3 hours we went from no heat to warm and cozy -- and this was not a minor repair. The motor, fan cage, and computer board all had to be replaced. They cared about cleanliness and left my house better than when they arrived. Highly recommend Airtron -- the pressure was on as it was after hours and below freezing -- and these polite, professional guys delivered.

I almost asked him to leave. He was sarcastic and wasn't explaining what he was doing or what he was checking for. For example, I had placed a meat thermometer in one of the registers to see what the air temperature coming out was, and I told him this, and he said and quot;Well, that wasn't going to tell you anything.and quot; And I thought, sure it would have moved the temp a little if the air was cool! He fiddled around in the inside unit in my garage, and when he thought I wasn't standing behind him he said and quot;Well that's good for me but not for her.and quot; I said and quot; What's not good for me?and quot; He started a little and he said and quot;well, you're (I don't remember what he called it) is clean, which would have been the least expensive fix for you.and quot; He then checked the outside unit and said there was almost no freon in it, said I needed a new air conditioning system because I had a leak somewhere. Didn't offer any other solutions. He then set us up with an estimate appointment the next morning. The next week, we had another company out who recharged the freon and now it's working fine, and the tech from the new company said the Airtron tech had left the caps off outside when he checked the freon. Overall had a terrible experience, will NOT be calling them again.

From start to finish, I can't be more satisfied with the expertise of the representatives at all levels. From Larry who provided the original service call, to including the purchase through Ray Brown and installation by Dave Artis and Joe Abston, I could not be happier. In winter when it is cold outside and you finally find out how dependent you are on heat, all the events that took place to get up and running was like a perfectly oiled machine. It took roughly 8 hours to install the furnace and a/c and set the new thermostat and fired it up. Checked all systems, cleaned up andwent over paperwork, warranties and what would happen in spring when they could further check out a/c unit. I am pleased and would recommend AirTron to anyone needing services including the yearly service plans they offer to all homeowners. Very worthwhile for the comfort and peace of mind it gives through the heating and cooling periods we face in central Ohio.

My furnace would not heat the house long enough to reach the desired temperature. I moved into this home in February and this was the first time I had to call anyone to fix the furnace. After reading the reviews on Angie's List, I called Airtron because they installed the furnace. I purchased the maintenance plan over the phone for $179 which gives you one furnace cleaning and one a/c cleaning, and there was no charge for the repair man to come over. I figured what the problem was after doing some online investigating (the flame sensor needed to be cleaned). However, I still wanted a pro to look at it to make sure. I called on Saturday at about 10 a.m. and he was at my house by about 2 p.m. which I thought was really fast. He immediately cleaned the flame sensor which was a 5 minute job and he also checked everything else on the furnace and was not bothered that I watched him work and asked questions. He did a great job, was very thorough and a nice guy.

They did an excellent job when we first used them. We get our air conditioning system maintenance done every fall and spring. Then we called them back in the fall the second time. They called us the day before and said that they could come early, but we couldn’t do that and they didn’t show up the next day. Then they said that they had to cancel because they had a backlog. They gave us some kind of an excuse. So, we rescheduled and the same exact thing happened the second time. So, we just had to drop them and use someone else. I don’t know if they were short of staff the second time or if they had too much work. It happened twice during the fall, but it could have happened three times. They always have coupons and I am sure we used a coupon for the service that they did in the spring and it was probably $80. It could have been a 15 point inspection and it could have been $80 or $69. They will let you know about the coupon. So that is the great thing that they will do. They will tell you to go on a particular website to print it out and they honor it. Even if the guy is here, he will wait and let you print it out if you have a printer. I wouldn’t use them again in the future.

WOW! What a great company and their rep was wonderful! We called for an estimate to take advantage of the federal tax credits and he came out a couple of days later. He asked us about our system and then inspected it. After some conversation about our lifestyle and future plans he recommend a system that he said he felt would best meet our needs. He DID NOT try to sell us the top of the line system nor did he put any kind of pressure on us to upgrade to one that would not give us the best return on the sale of the home. While the one we chose (his recommendation and still applied for the tax credit) was more "middle of the road", the difference in the heat in the house has been nothing short of amazing! Our old system was probably 25+ years old and very erratic. It would heat up well but then the temp would dip and we could tell it was time for the furnace to kick back on. The gas bills were awful. This new Airtron system makes for a more "even" temperature so that it's always what the thermostat reads it is. We replaced the AC unit too, and got a great deal on that as well. By the time we get the $$ back from the gov't and the gas company we'll only have about $3700.00 in the whole thing. On the day of installation (about a week later) they arrived when they said they would and went right to work. The new unit is much smaller but a true workhorse! The workers hauled the old one out and had the new one in about 4 hours later. They cleaned up their mess and were very courteous to us. Additionally, we told him we were thinking about adding insulation to the attic to further reduce the overall heating/cooling bills and were told that they provide that service, too. We took advantage of that and had them blow insulation into the attic the same day they replaced the furnace/AC. Got it all done in one fell swoop and got great service and a good price! Highly pleased!

I've had a long relationship with Airtron and just hate that this has happened! I just moved and signed a new service contract. When the guy came to clean the furnace, which was very dirty, he came down from the attic and shook his head. He then told me that the heat exchanger was cracked and I needed a new furnace. He turned off the gas supply to the furnace and told me that's how people die of carbon monoxide poisoning. A salesperson came out and gave me an estimate of $4525. I decided to seek a second opinion. The man from the second company came out, checked the furnace, and said there is no crack! He turned it on and checked the carbon monoxide levels from every register. All the readings were 0. My relationship with Airtron is over. I will be seeking a return of the charge for the service contract.

I have never had a problem with them. They have always come back and fixed anything that was wrong. The last time they installed a furnace they had to have it re-inspected a couple times. They ran the condenser tubes for the air conditioning through the attic and they have frozen during the winter. They have been responsive though and fix everything if its wrong.
Response from Airtron Heating & Air Conditioning
