The salesperson was a regional or district manager (I forget which), who showed up promptly for our sales quote appointment on a Saturday. The company required that both my wife and I be present, which we didn't like originally, but which turned out to be a good idea because we really did both turn out to have lots of questions.
He was very detailed, and answered all of our questions patiently and kindly. He was very low-pressure, which we greatly appreciated. The product seemed to be of very good quality, and at first I thought we might hire the company. But there were two issues that really turned us off.
1. The company had been advertising windows for something like $158 each. The salesperson didn't even mention those until we asked about them specifically. His response was something like, "Oh, I wish they wouldn't advertise those. They're really low-grade. I wouldn't recommend those to anyone except maybe a house-flipper, who wasn't going to have to live with them." This seems like classic bait-and-switch tactics, which I did not appreciate.
2. The original quoted price was around $12,000, but the salesperson had a whole, well-though-out explanation for why he could offer us a 10% discount if we hired them that day, involving their cost for losing business if we wanted a follow-up visit and they had to cancel a first-visit appointment with another potential client. Maybe it's true, but in the end, it was just a way to pressure us into signing immediately. IN ADDITION, a few days later, he called and said that they had "a big commercial job" "in our area" (we live two miles from them) and could therefore do the job for around $6,500, as I recall. That made me determined never to do business with them.
They were willing to let me pay $12,000 for a job they were willing to do for several thousand dollars less? No way. The company we did eventually hire had pre-set prices for everything, just like a menu, and the other company was absolutely great. Look for my review on them, and buy from them, not Weatherseal!
They were so easy and willing to work with us and schedule around our needs. The teams were friendly, professional and my dogs LOVED them. Understand the one dog always hides when people come but he hung right with them!
The work was professional and they took the extra time and effort to make it right. They even hung the new outside lights for us when the put the siding up. No small detail was over looked and when the job was complete we could not find one thing that was out of place or incorrect. They even fixed our lawn and the neighbors lawn because we had to drive and park on them while they worked on the drive way.
Communication with the project manager, the owner and the team members were never lacking. I actually received calls multiple times in one day to schedule the work and then to ensure the scheduling happened.
They did such a great job that we have contracted them to do more work for us in the house.
The house, yard and drive look great and we have had so many people stop to ask about the job Weatherseal did and how we liked their services.
Recommend them...no I would HIGHLY Recommend or even just flat out tell you to use them.
Every time I pull in our driveway I smile and know this was the best money we spent on the home.
I was highly pressured to take a deal from the salesman. He stated that as soon as he left the property deal expired.
they also damaged my yard by driving on it and the neighbors as well. i have pictures for all damage and crumbling of sidewalk and steps. nothing is tied together. you can tell its not done properly. they stated they would be out in a matter of days by friday of that week. three weeks later i contact the company about canceling and they stated i cannot cancel because they already have my stone in their yard.
After I contacted John Conner at WeatherSeal and he came out to take a thorough look, he informed me that there was also mold on the wood and a ton of water damage that no other estimator told me about. He actually spent about 40-45 minutes in my attic, took a ton of photos (to show me) and carefully took the time to explain about the damage. I loved his openness and honesty. He told me that the roof could in fact last another couple of years, but I would be dealing with leaks on a regular basis when it rained. I was not willing to go through that each time it rained, so I decided on the new roof and signed a contract with WeatherSeal. I believe I met with him in October and on December 5, the work on the roof began. The crew was awesome! On time and considerate of my yard and surrounding areas. I am an extremely neat and tidy person and expected that the surrounding yard be maintained and no debris from the roof tear-off be lying around. The complete install, with new wood and all, took 2.5 days. Each day I arrived home from work, the place was immaculate. I could barely tell a work crew was at my house.
Immediately upon finishing the job, Mr. Conner contact me, as did another representative from his office, to see if the job was done to my satisfaction. He also stopped by my house a week or so later to check out the work and see how the new roof looked. The customer service at WeatherSeal was amazing. And when you are spending that type of money...that makes a huge difference!
I honestly can't praise the Company enough and would highly recommend them to anyone I speak with. I now have a new roof and can sleep soundly at night knowing that the job was done right and I received a fair price.
Thank you, John Conner and your staff at WeatherSeal!
Sincerely,
Dawn Marzano
It went really good. My new roof looks great. The workers were prompt and professional.
When they came for the walk thru after the roof was installed...Bill, from Weatherseal was so nice. He assured me that if there was any problem whatsoever to call them. That was such a relief to know.
The sales rep Scott was as nice as can be. The price was better than other roofing businesses. I had another roofing company come out to give me a quote. Weatherseal 's price was better. And their salesman was much nicer.
Weatherseal replaced all the windows in my house in 2011, and I knew they would do another excellent job on my roof.
I would recommend Weatherseal to others.
We were told that it would take 6-8 weeks to have the job completed, to our surprise it was completed in just 5 weeks! The installers were great and clearly employees of the company not Subcontractors. They were focused on the task at hand, polite and cleaned up daily!
The finished job is fantastic! The house looks new and the comfort inside is a marked difference! We expect that our heating and cooling cost will decline greatly!
Our entire experience with WeatherSeal has been fantastic and I highly recommend if you have the need for windows or siding give them a call as they will exceed your expectations and provide a great product for a reasonable price!
I cannot speak for Weatherseal's workmanship, materials, service, responsiveness, cleanup, etc, since we went with the other contractor. Weatherseal has great reviews on Angie's List so their products and installation must be good. It is just their sales approach that I don't appreciate.
Food for Thought: If I had mentioned to Weatherseal right up front that I had another estimate and that it was under $20,000 and Weatherseal had offered to beat it immediately without starting at $51,000, they just may have won our business. But then we would not have known that they were willing to charge us $32,000 over the price they were actually willing to do the work for.
Emails went back and forth. First I questioned the measurement, then later when I asked him to come and remeasure, he reduced the amount of the siding portion by $3085 (but never said he mis-measured). Additionally the $1468 rebate he originally offered me (in lieu of a $1000 coupon I had), was no longer on the table and neither was the "special" financing. So my options were the correct price WITHOUT the rebate or coupon and either pay cash or take 1 year same as cash OR pay the higher, exaggerated price WITH the rebate and get the 7 year 0% financing.
The way I figure it, the 0% financing would cost me approximately $4500: His first quote was $17912 total at 0% vs. his "recalculated" total of $14827 which should still receive the stated rebate of $1468 (or at least my coupon) = $13359. The difference between $17912 and $13359 = $4553 would be the cost for 0% financing.
I think this is unethical at the least, and I suggest anyone getting a quote from them be very careful. Buyer beware! I've seen other information on this provider that they are a little high-priced, but this is not a "little bit" to me.
I went with another provider; one Weatherseal said would be at lease double his quote. It was not -- it was right in the middle of my 3 quotes. The way I look at it, the high-baller and the low-baller are both subject to scrutiny. I went with the middle guy, and a company I've done business with before and are comfortable with.
I cannot state how well this company did on this job. Yes it took a little longer but the end result quality was worth it. John Conner , the owner, and his team ( Rick, Mark and Josh - and the installers!) were impressive in the quality and standards that they have in place. This company from the bottom to the top take pride in their work. When I had an issue with the installation ( lock not functioning properly and a defective track - the installation manager ( Josh ) and the head installers ( Troy and Ray ) were at my house within 20 minutes. They found a defective manufacturer part and in order to solve the issue they came out to the house on Sunday morning - way above and beyond! So all the issues would be resolved prior to our very large family coming in town for Thanksgiving. When the owner found out Monday that I had a problem he was at my home to check the work himself and to make sure that my wife was satisfied. This was very reassuring that they will be there when it matters!
The job started and ended well. We did have an issue with the sliding door and a window ( install and a craftsmanship issue) that were unforeseen and were handled with the utmost professionalism and care.
