Woodruff Tree Service

Mr Woodruff and his crew did a masterful job. They were punctual, most professional and pleasant to work with and the price was good. Many of my neighbors were also impressed with the workmanship and stopped by to inquire about their services. They did the work in record time. The crew was marvelous and they did a wonderful clean up job as well.

Don't know yet. Update 7/22/12: Guys were very friendly and very accommodating. After discussing the needs for each tree with me, the guys went right to work. About 20 minutes later they "finished," and we walked the job together and found quite a few "dead" and /or low branches that still needed to be removed. The guys were pleasant when I pointed out these overlooked branches and they took care of them. Clean-up was just okay, not great. For the money, it was an okay deal and a decent quality job.

After the storm I made many calls to find someone who could do the work and do it promptly. I had it narrowed down to three good quotes; I chose Woodruff mainly due to their Angie's List rating and the good impression that I had when Mike gave the quote. They were also able to come out the soonest and they turned out to be the least expensive due to their Angie's List deal/coupon. I was impressed by how quickly Mike called me back when I called. Don't ever hesitate to leave a message because he'll call you right back! They arrived early, which I know sounds like I good thing, but it caused a slight problem because I wasn't home yet and some information got missed because they talked to my son instead. However, Mike was great about sorting out the miscommunication and everything turned out great. Basically, I had wanted some wood saved that ended up getting chopped up, but he found a similar piece for me that will work for my purposes. Mike also trimmed a few extra branches from an adjacent tree free of charge to make up for the miscommunication. The crew did a great job cleaning up -- aside from a huge mulch pile where the stump was (which Mike sufficiently warned me about), you can't even tell anything happened. This was a tree that covered practically my whole backyard when it was down. I'm very glad to have it out of here. Bottom line -- just make sure everyone is on the same page at the start of the work, and then everything runs very smoothly, efficiently, and quickly! Also, Mike is great to work with -- he is very calm and friendly and took extra time explaining things about keeping my remaining trees healthy.

I had an Angies's List big deal for $200 worth of service. We had an old tree in our backyard with suspicious rot around the base. Woodruff came out and gave us a very reasonable price to remove the tree completely. It wasn't until the spring that we had the work done and by that time, we'd lost the estimate. Since it had been so long, Woodruff no long had it in their records but we were able to work out a price that made everyone happy. They were extremely professional and efficient in taking down the tree and even cut it into sections for use as firewood this coming winter. They cleaned up all the leaves and ground down the stump and exposed roots. My neighbor even got them to come over and take down a smaller tree on the spot. This is one of those local companies you really love doing business with.

I purchased the Angie's List deal and had the tree trim appt scheduled the day after the terrible storm Columbus had in June 2012. How's that for great timing?! In addition to losing power, one bradford pear tree (approx. 30' x 15') was split in half & a Boxelder tree had 2 large branches snap off. A team of 4 men & Mike Woodruff came to clean up the mess that the storm caused & do trimming as the appt was originally set for. They had it all done in 2 hours. The entire crew did a fantastic job; quick, did exactly what I asked & cleaned up after. I will use this company for all tree removal/trimming needs in the future & would recommend to anyone. The deal was $99 for $200 worth of service. I paid the $99 + $442 for the unexpected tree removal.

It went well, they did everything promised, they were on time and, they cleaned up the mess well at the end.

I was very pleased with the work itself. i wasn't home when they came to do the work but when I arrived home from work, I was delighted with the result. They did everything that we discussed and it looked great. When he came to do the estimate, Mike(?) prepared me to expect a gap in the foliage after they removed the unstable limb but it looks better than I expected. The tree doesn't look like it just had a "haircut" - it just looks nice instead of over-grown. I was displeased with Woodruff's responsiveness. This was an Angie's List Big Deal coupon - $99 for $200 of tree service. A couple of days after I purchased the coupon, I called Woodruff and left a message. Then I waited a week before someone called me back. We set a time for 8:30 am on a Thursday for the estimate. I waited one hour, until 9:30 and no one showed or called. At 9:30 I called and left a message about the missed appointment. By early the following week, about 5 days after the missed appointment, I had not received a return phone call so I contacted Angie's List about a refund. Only after Angie's List contacted Woodruff directly did I get a return call. We set up a time to do the estimate, Mike came on time for that meeting and then the work was done two days later, right on schedule. Although I would call Woodruff again (and recommend them) based on the quality of their work and their pricing, I would be less patient about not being called back in a timely manner. If not for the Big Deal coupon, I would have found another vendor.

The recent storm broke two large limbs from the top of my 40 year-old maple. The branches were caught on a lower branch that would soon give way and crash on to my primary power line. I submitted an email request for an estimate using the Angie's List link. Mike Woodruff called that same day to schedule time to provide an estimate. Mike arrived within the committed time frame and gave me his assessment of the damage along with the price to service the tree. The Woodruff crew set to work and quickly removed the limbs without upsetting the power lines. The crew cleaned up thoroughly and asked for my review of the work. The entire process was smooth and well executed.

We first contacted Mike about getting (many!) dead ash and other problem trees removed from our 2-acre yard when we saw an Angie's List Big Deal that he was offering. This was the only (small) difficulty we had, and leads to my recommendation - contact them via phone rather than email. (Slow to respond to email - great at returning phone calls). We had a grand total of 45 trees, bushes, and stumps to be taken out, plus a number of overgrown trees to be limbed up. Mike's team did all this work in a single day for $4450, which we thought was a very fair price based on other quotes. The team was very speedy, extremely thorough, and so very tidy - they did a better job cleaning up after themselves than we generally do! Mike was also willing to discuss options with us - i.e. if we accepted mulched up tree brush rather than them hauling it away, it would cost $X less, etc. etc. So not only did we get our landscaping addressed - we also got a pile of mulch and some firewood neatly stacked. Additionally, they pointed out to us a couple of dead or diseased trees that we had missed, discussed why they were problems, and ultimately took those down as well (included in my total price and #s above). Now our yard looks great! We will definitely contact this company again for tree service in the future.

Very well. Contacted Woodruff Tree Service regarding their Angie's list special. They returned my call promptly, set up a time for service, provided a line item quote and had them do the work. To save some money, I told them I would cut up the wood myself (for firewood), but they did it anyway and stacked it neatly between two other trees.

We liked the work that was done and it was done as per the discussions with the contractor. All of the intended work was written down on a contract form and signed by the contractor and me so there were no misconceptions. There were some misunderstandings between the contractor and the "Call Before You Dig" representative so the contractor did the work a day later than we had agreed which resulted in some inconvenience for us the homeowners since we waited all day and didn't hear from the contractor until very late on the agreed day.

Mike came out to my home and gave me a call when he was on his way. The time slot for the estimate was a 1 hour window. He was running a bit late, but called well in advance to let me know. I described what I wanted done and the estimate was written on the spot. The total for the service was $300, less the $200 I had already paid with the coupon, and tax. It took about a week and a half for service to be performed. A crew of four arrived at my home at about 4pm. Steve knocked on the door, let me know they were here, and had me confirm what I wanted done. Two started working the tree in front (involving climbing equipment) and the other two worked on the tree in back, with a pole saw. They collected all of the brush and trimmings near their truck for chipping and waited until they were pretty much done before starting it up. I'm sure my neighbors were appreciative that there wasn't a ton of noise ongoing. By about 5 PM, they were wrapped up, packed, and left my yard exactly as they found it. I couldn't be happier with the service, price, and professionalism of the crew, as well as their quality of work.

They reviewed what work that I had requested when I got my estimate, even before starting the work. Once the work was completed, reviewed with me what had been done, cleaned up a few bushes that I felt needed more triming. The work was done very qickly in about two hours, which the estimate time I had been given. The workmen were neat and clean and very pleasant. It was a very pleasant experience, would use them again! These guys were great. They showed me exactly where and why they were trimming. While two trimmed one kept a fast pace cleaning up and taking wood to the chipper. Not even the smallest branches left on the ground. Great trimming job! Great cleanup! Puctual and professional.

Mike Woodruff came out and looked around, then gave us a price. He told me he would come back next week on Tuesday and do the work. On Tuesday the crew came and they did everything we talked about. They trimmed and removed all debris. I will use them again. Very reliable and great to work with.

He came out and gave me a quote to have 8 trees removed but it ended up being too expensive so I had to cancel the big deal. However he was very consciences, courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful.

They did a really good job. Their price was the lowest of the 2 or 3 estimates we got. They were quick did exactly what they said they would do.

It was excellent work. They came out, did the job, and cleaned up very well. The were very nice. They trimmed two huge trees like monkies!

They trimmed a few branches for me and did a great job. I even brought them back to my home for more work. I have been very happy with the quality of their work.

Overall the experience was pleasant. The crew showed up promptly and reviewed the details of which trees and stumps they were going to remove. They worked quickly and were very careful not to destroy our established landscape /lighting/wires. Once all services were completed they did a walk around to review and explain what was done to remove all trees, stumps and debris.

The men arrived promptly just a few days after contact with owner who wrote the proposal. They set to work at once and cleaned up afterwards. Then a young man showed me everything they had done and asked if i was satisfied with the job. I will definitely call them again for aany work i need done in the yard.

Very well. I have no complaints whatsoever. I am very happy with the work.

The owner came out the next day after I called and removed the stumps from our yard. I was very impressed with him as he was very polite and professional. He was extremely accommodating and wanted to make sure that the work was done the way we wanted. He was great about cleaning up after himself as well. I would highly recommend him to anyone and cannot say enough good things about him.

Overall Woodruff did a good job and I would use them again.

They arrived on time, went over what they were going to do, and went about doing their job. All worked expertly with no waste of time. All were very pleasant.
