Woodruff Tree Service

Went smoothly. We were pleased with the service.

Up front I want to say this was the best tree service experience that I have ever had. Mike and crew arrived as sceduled with all their equipment ready to go. In a very short time they had all necessary equipment unloaded and the entire crew working in a coordinated and supportive manner. The equipment was first class from chain saws, dingy, chipper , leaf blower, and grinder. It all worked geat and there was no lost time or delays due to equipment issues.The combination of great tools and a very efficient crew accomplished and amazing amount of work in one day. They were very cordial and cooperative and willing to do additional numerious minor unplanned work at no additional cost. This is my tree service provider from now on.

I initially met with a supervisor to explain what I wanted done. Those particular person did not return with the crew however that was not an issue. When the crew arrived we reviewed the work to be done. Upon completion the team did a nice job cleaning up.

Mike shown up with 4 members of his crew to cut down a tree that was laying on the house. They cut the tree down slowly in pieces because how large it was and there was no way to remove it any other way without crane. They braces the tree as they cut it down and lowered the pieces to the ground.

Woodruff Tree Service did some pruning of a tree in my back yard in May 2012. I liked their work so I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for $99 for $200 worth of services to prune the tree in my front yard. I called Woodruff Tree Service three times, leaving a week or two between calls since it is a busy time of year for them. Finally after my third call Mike Woodruff returned my call. This was on Wednesday, October 17. I asked if they could come out on Thursday or Friday, October 25 or 26. Mike said that he could not schedule that far in advance until he saw weather predictions for the week. He said he would call me on Monday, October 22, and let me know when we could schedule. I received no phone call on Monday so I called on Tuesday afternoon and left a message reminding Mike that he had said he would call on Monday to schedule my work. I heard nothing so called Angie's List on October 31 and requested their assistance. I received an email from Angie's List the next day (November 1) that they had spoken with Mike and he had said that we had recently spoken and had scheduled an appointment for the following Wednesday, November 7. This was news to me! I called Mike the next day, November 2, and told him I had received an email from Angie's List stating that we had an appointment for Wednesday that I didn't know anything about. He just said that this was what he had in his appointment book. I couldn't do it at the time he had scheduled but we were able to work out a time and three men did show up on time on Wednesday, November 7. I am very pleased with their work, although disappointed that the trimming wasn't done when the tree had leaves when it was easier to see where branches were dead. They did extensive trimming and told me that there were a lot of dead branches. I am interested in seeing how the tree looks next spring but right now I think it looks great - as far as I can tell with no leaves, I think they did a great job. I am angry with the way I was treated and especially that at no time did Mike or anyone else apologize for not returning my calls or for the mix-up with the appointment date. Stuff happens and I could overlook not returning my calls as just one of those times if Mike had acknowledged and apologized for the unresponsiveness. I find this very unprofessional and does give me pause in hiring them again even though I think they are knowledgeable and skillful in their work. The men who came out and did the work were professional and very good to work with. My low scores on responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism are based on the scheduling, not the actual work that was done.

We called them; they were a little slow in responding but I had confidence in them and they did show up and complete the work. They are professional and I would use them again.

Mike came with a crew of guys and the proper equipment on time. They worked steadily and efficiently for the two days that Mike told me it would take. They even cleared a large fallen log in my neighbor's yard. The difference of how my back yard/woods looks now compared to how it did look is amazing. Mike and his team were courteous, professional and adept. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

Job was completed quickly 1 day after estimate (Estimate was on Saturday,11/12; work was done on 11/13; another company with heavier equipment would have had to wait until the ground dried up significantly or frozen). This crew operated with one climber and a team of 5 or 6 guys on the ground doing cleanup (stacking wood at our request and chipping the remainder). They were an efficient and friendly group. I was a little concerned about the weather: the wind was still gusty at times (and the climber had to sway & wait on occasion), but they did the job carefully and safely. I thought the price was reasonable (and almost $1000 cheaper than the company with the bigger equipment & larger capital investment, a company which, by the way, had done excellent, technically more difficult work for us on another occasion -- whose name I'm probably not supposed to mention in this review of Woodruff.) Woodruff honored their 10% off Angies list coupon. Oh yeah, Woodruff, a memorable name for a tree service company. These guys were "ruff" and tough -- and took care of the dying "wood" in our yard :)

They did a real good job. They showed up when they said they would and surprisingly they did a better job than I thought they would.

Scheduling was easy, the crew was prompt, courteous, followed my requests, and completed the work efficiently.

They came and spent all day removing the trees in slightly rainy conditions. They did a good job and I will probably hire them again in the spring to remove some more that also need it.

The service person was polite, responsive and nice. The price was fantastic, as was the price they quoted on some (potential) future work. My bone to pick is with the quality of the work. The cuts were made rapidly and in an extremely crude way (they cut back one tree by just lopping off the top -- it still looks awful, despite the service person's assurance that it would "fill out nicely" subsequently). When I had an arborist come out and look at them recently he laughed and said, "clearly they didn't know what they were doing". My husband told me emphatically, "never get them again."

Took care of everything! Cleared the trees (too close to garage and overhead lines). Hauled everything away. Performed as promised, and even pointed out things to look at in the future.

I needed a medium tree removed and bushes cleared by the side of my house due to window replacement. I needed the job done quickly.. Woodruff came out the same day as my call and had the work scheduled for the next day. In addition, Woodruff was able to do my fall pruning on this short notice job. The job was done professionally and the team did a good job cleaning up afterwards.

Arrived on time and the stump was out quickly. Did a good job leaving the area in good shape. The high branches came down quickly and efficiently. They carted off the items that where chopped and left everything in good shape!

Overall, things went well. I was surprised that they asked to use my hose to hook up to my outside tap--what if I hadn't had a working hose? They also neglected to put the hose away. These actions are what caused me to give them a slightly lower rating. On the other hand, they were pro-active in their suggestions that certain things (like wet drywall) should be thrown out. They were also very helpful in getting items into my car so that I could take to a charity and donate, which went beyond what the job called for. That made their rating go up. I would say they need to do a little better if they want to make it to the "Page of Happiness," but I would recommend them to anyone.

Received my estimate and an offer to do the work all in the same day. Very satisfied with the completed job using a Big Deal offer.

The men came out and performed the work in rain and sleet because they wanted to finish the job before I left for three weeks. They truly went above and beyond the call of duty. Because some of the work involved pruning of mature trees, I was with them and they were very responsive to my directives on a few branches I did not want pruned out. Overall, the work went very well. Also, there were four men working, so the work was done very efficiently.

Mike came out and provided an estimate to have a blue spruce tree taken down and grind out the stump. We called and told him we would like him to do the work, but we were not in a huge rush - just to call when he is available. He called in the morning and asked if he could do the work today, we said yes, he came out and did exactly what he said he would do (take the tree down and grind out the stum).

First I'd like to mention that they were exactly on time for the service; and I was getting return calls from other companies (for estimates) after Woodruff actually did the work. From the date I met with the estimator until the work was completed, it was about 9 days. I was very happy with that. The trees look great in the back and the guys even stacked up the wood for me for campfires. They were all courteous and friendly and I would definitely ask them back. I think it took about 2 hours from start to finish. The price was very competitive and way better than 2 other estimates.

They were great to work with. They worked around my schedule. They did everything quickly and efficiently. Cleaned up after themselves and even stacked some existing firewood in with the new pile of wood they left. Very professional, and very nice people!

I had the estimate done one week prior and was told that my trees would be trimmed in the next 1-2 weeks depending on the weather. I was called on 11/5/12 to see if they could come and do the work and they were there in 30 minutes. The work was completed in about 45 minutes and they cleaned up the trimmed branches. Timely and reasonably priced.

Placed initial call to listed local number to receive visit and quote on Monday 10/22/12 in the morning. Mike returned call around 5pm. I did not get message until late evening so I called again Tuesday morning 10/23/12 and a left a message on the assumed mobile number he left for me to call. No return calls from Mike on Tuesday. I called again on Wed 10/24, leaving a message on the same phone number. No response. I chose not to call anymore. I was off that week and had hopes of at least getting an estimate for one oak tree pruning and stump grindings. I do consider this unprofessional on the company's part and I would like a refund from Angie's list.
